The anticipated return to action of Reo Hatate is a reminder of the dangers with international breaks, which starkly contrasts to this particular break. Reo has been out injured since being on Asian Cup duty with Japan in January. He is now at Lennoxtown, with Kyogo (out of the international picture, bizarrely) and Daizen Maeda (as Japan’s game against North Korea was cancelled).
Callum McGregor is my regular concern at these times, but the captain misses out, another recuperating, as is Cameron Carter-Vickers, who was omitted from the USA squad by agreement. So too is CCV’s central defensive partner, Liam Scales.
Alistair Johnston came through Canada’s win over Trinidad & Tobago at the weekend, leaving Brendan Rodgers with the rarest weeks to train, practice and build fitness among his regular starters.
This is normal for many Premiership clubs during international breaks. Players who need rest, get it, those who would benefit from endurance or fitness training, can indulge. If you are looking for positive indications for the remaining figures, this is it.
Eurochamps67, Alex McKillop’s Funeral Mass is at St Peter’s Hamilton (ML3 8LL) at 10:00 on Wednesday 3 April, an hour later at South Lanarkshire Crematorium (G72 0TL) and thereafter at Carrigan’s in Blantyre (G72 9RN). Alex made friends on here for close to 20 years, I know many will be there next week.

Howdy y’all.
Still excited about the July tour and looking forward to the craic with my family and fellow Tims.
Well done Paul for noting arrangements for Alex’s funeral.
Fholks, if you can make it, please do. It would be good to pack the place out for him.
I hear you TEXASTIM!
Test.
Good afternoon all from the Victoria Bar. Baltic here.
Robertson on Sunday, they’re taking the piss,so soon after the Tynecastle cheating
Bernard Ponsonby has retired from STV, we could do much worse than employ him to head up our media affairs, though somehow I can’t see him being a fan of the current custodians, his eulogy to Big Billy, was from the heart, and absolutely outstanding.
Good shout . Bernard was a speaker last week at the GUCSC dinner and was fantastic. Maybe not the boards cup of tea but would be great for us. SFA and Uefa beware

Just don’t understand why you leave the warm comfort of your home. To battle with the cold and windy elements, just to sit and drink beer..I suggest the warmth and hushed silence of a library.
Ponsonby?
What’s wrong with the guy from Radio Clyde?
BhoyJoe , James Joyce’s Ulysses put that rascal BRRB off libraries for life 🤪
Keevins ?
FRED COLON @1.20
Let’s not disturb his rascality.
Re McGregor,I hope he takes the same decision as Broonie, and retires from international football, to prolong his Celtic career, and rest up at periods throughout the season.

…………..
Your right mate, but I am somewhat surprised that they didnt go the ” whole hog” and also appoint BEATON on VAR again for the game on Sunday, although I am sure that whoever is on VAR this Sunday will be well briefed in advance.
Cheatin Hun Bassa’s….Im sick of it.

Bada, the guy we have already, Gerry McCullough came from Radio Clyde.
BRRB @ 1.52
Agree with you….you had about 8 correct.
GM- aaaaa, not sure what his remit is, but our press/PR could get a revamp, and keep the lapdogs in check at press conferences IMO, BP wouldn’t take any nonsense, and could bring new ideas to the table.HH

What kind of revamp for PR ?
Re BP are you really thinking he would be appalled at the recent haul since rangers 2 emerged in the top flight would not be good enough for the guy ?
17 trophies in 7 years. 2.4 per season ! I am sure PB would think the board and club leadership needs sorted.
What does need fixed is engagement with the perma disenfranchised and arrogant fanbase who get manipulated by mass media and are desperate to jump on anything negative to moan about our club and say I told you so.
Folks who don’t have a clue about what role a PR guy does in our club saying an old media chap like BP (who I have a lot of time for) should be thinking about our board.
BP would be too close to St Al’s for many malcontents. His kids would not pass the acceptable to be a real salt of the earth Celtic fan test for some.
B78- after reading your usual stuff, you would be ideal for the PR Bullshit role,BR and players every week get asked questions, which has nothing to do with us,usually a Sevco related one,BP or similar could sit in and tell the Laptop Loyal to move on…..they are loaded questions designed to trick folk.
TV TRIVIA….
TV Show KOJAK….Detective PERCY SAPERSTEIN ( Actor Mark Russell) was born in Glasgow in 1933. He is 90 years old, and still going…..
TV Show FRASIER….Frasiers Dad in the show ( Martin Crane)…..played by the excellent HOHN MAHONEY.
John Mahoney was born in BLACKPOOL.
HH
JOHN MAHONEY….NOT ” HOHN” !
DOH.
Bernard Ponsonby’s finest moment is his introduction to Charlie and the Bhoys live at the Barrowlands 1998.

Bernard Ponsonby has retired from STV, we could do much worse than employ him to head up our media affairs
———-
i like your thinking.
There is no doubt in my mind that he is a “young” retiree, and has much to give.
Brilliantly articulate, a Castlemilk bhoy, who went to Trinity in Rutherglen, and then excelled at Glasgow Uni.
He carries himslef well, never ever flustered, the question for me is, could ha be much more than the PR guy, is there an executive role he could perform, or be on the board in some capacity with one of the elders stepping down.
i ask often, when we want to swap out the present owners (impossible) or sack the board, who do we want to replace them, what skills , experience, morals, charachter do we need,
the very cheesy what does success look like ? applies to this, who fits the bill ?
in a really radical outlier, i would like to see us really be able to shake it up, appoint a NED who is not actually a Celtic supporter, or in what seems to be a very shorlist of friends of the incumbants.
So, Ponsonby in some capacity is a yes from me.
who else ?
I would be all for Bernard Ponsonby having a role at Parkhead. He would be a great person to have at any press conference, imo. He knows the hacks well and knows who will be asking the loaded question. He can warn whoever is put up to answer questions or even respond himself.
Was Johm Mohoney the Jack who once played Tarzan then, or a different guy

Bada
Celtic PR, you got me interested so I did a Google:
“Eileen McCartney – Press Public Relations Officer – Celtic Football Club”
Never heard of her I have to admit.
Secured my tickets for Notre Dame. Seemed the Chelsea pre-sales code worked but the Celtic one didn’t. I think they are going to be taken by surprise at the number of Celtic fans who attend this match !
Looking forward to it.
