Reason to hope for the remaining fixtures

175

The anticipated return to action of Reo Hatate is a reminder of the dangers with international breaks, which starkly contrasts to this particular break.  Reo has been out injured since being on Asian Cup duty with Japan in January.  He is now at Lennoxtown, with Kyogo (out of the international picture, bizarrely) and Daizen Maeda (as Japan’s game against North Korea was cancelled).

Callum McGregor is my regular concern at these times, but the captain misses out, another recuperating, as is Cameron Carter-Vickers, who was omitted from the USA squad by agreement.  So too is CCV’s central defensive partner, Liam Scales.

Alistair Johnston came through Canada’s win over Trinidad & Tobago at the weekend, leaving Brendan Rodgers with the rarest weeks to train, practice and build fitness among his regular starters.

This is normal for many Premiership clubs during international breaks.  Players who need rest, get it, those who would benefit from endurance or fitness training, can indulge.  If you are looking for positive indications for the remaining figures, this is it.

Eurochamps67, Alex McKillop’s Funeral Mass is at St Peter’s Hamilton (ML3 8LL) at 10:00 on Wednesday 3 April, an hour later at South Lanarkshire Crematorium (G72 0TL) and thereafter at Carrigan’s in Blantyre (G72 9RN).  Alex made friends on here for close to 20 years, I know many will be there next week.

Are we any nearer in appointing a Director of Football. I fancy MON or King of Kings

    ————–

Neither for me, as brilliantly intelligent as Martin is, I doubt a younger manager would be happy to work in his shadow.

Henrik, also a no for me, too big a name, while, as far as I know, not having any formel qualifications to manage a business. The DOF role needs to be more than the football operations department.

Something that interests me, having spent a lot of time in Germany.

Their football structures, and will be 51% fan owned, their executives even with famous names and acheivements, they still go and get relevant business qualifications, and a culture of always learning.

Last year I got talking to the CEO at a Scottish club, doing an MBA in Sports Management at University of Liverpool, in a weird twist having started talking football, his son and my nephew were at an academy together, we turned to business management, he was really interested in my opinions , and that went on to talking about his dissertation, and “right sizing” his football club based on real revenues and not future promises.

I was also intriugued to see mark burchill taking on a new role at Liverpool, headhunted indeed and aiden mcgeady in a great interview on shortie other week, talking about business school and wanting a career in sports business rather than the volatility of management or coaching.

we need more if this not less.

I did some searching out, cannot find them as brothers in law, but they me well be.

They were definately team mates before.

What interests me is the reporting down south via liverpool locasl papers and blogs, that Mark didnt just follow the other fella, as jobs for the boys, The Liverpool football operations department is very structured, It will avoid the change of manager meaning whoesale changes of backroom staff (except maybe a boss saying i come with my assistant as a job lot).

The spin put is he is so highly regarded as a head of scouting that getting him to come was an acheivement. It suprised me, but then we live in this false reporting goldfish bowl up here.

The other guy, Richard Hughes is getting a lot of power at liverpool, and will appoint the new manager.

Following Klopp is some task, if they go for Stevie G that would abe a disaster.

  16. aiden was on shortie and explained that he is a technical manager for ayr united as well as a player. tasked with coaching and improving aspects of the players game.

said nothing crosses over with broonie role as first team manager, and he picks the team, end of.

was quite interesting when he said he was having to do a 20,000 word dissertation, and was actually enjoying it.

    i hope he goes far.

saint stephens in port glasgow, was originally located in the oroginal higholm building just above the train station, we got it after the port high moved up to the new school in broadfield. that was in the late 50s.

in the 1970s the catholc high school population had outgrown that location and rather than build a new catholic school, they decided to build a new non-dom right in front oy our new house in slaemuir, that was in 1970,

that is some creative thinking there, lets not give the tims a new school but a good excuse for a new build for the prods, and extensive playing fields, 2 pitches, a hockey pitch, a rugby pitch, and em a swimming pool.

the catholics can go across the 3 building on 2 sites.

fast forward to 2000, they have a shared campus on kilmacolm road, a really good build, and shared facilities, and the nursury and special needs school, much better.

  20. Re the media , there whole objective is to drum up some noise to sell stuff.

Our objective is not to get involved and consumed by negative energy playing a game which the media know that we can’t win.

Straight bat but hit them really hard when they step over the line into being sued i.E Keevins

  21. I can understand why Kyogo isn’t in the Japan team –

A manager wouldn’t appreciate his stats

teammates wouldn’t have the time to try to understand his thinking

teammates couldn’t practise the early ball that no one else would make

A manager wouldn’t get to experience the week in week out, kyogo will get one shot and score
