It will surprise no one that Uefa have charged our football club with “the displaying of an offensive banner and setting off of fireworks [sic]by fans”, this action was as inevitable as the dawn. At least some of our number believes setting off flares in a football stadium is a reasonable action and that provoking European football’s governing body is a smart thing to do.
In terms of protest, “**** Uefa” is not quite up there with Martin Luther’s Thesis or what we’ve witnessed in the Arab world this year. It’s simple rebellious behaviour, which some of us are compelled by in our teens and a few take a long time to shake off.
Forget calls to self-police, I’ve never seen it work with a football support. Ever. If you think you are going to convince anyone the folly of profane banners, flares or even IRA chanting at a football game, save your breath. Those who are up for the protest (whatever the subject is) are more likely to find your call for restraint as complicity.
This series of protest and consequence will run for years, will split the support and damage Celtic. Neither the club nor the support has the leadership to do anything about it. Copy and paste the thoughts you write on the subject, you can use them again without having to retype.

BOBBY,
That link doesn’t play the full song, I’m trying to find a full link but it isnae coming up with any.
Great lyrics and I appreciate you sharing this wee nugget.
Life is like a tall ship
Drifting gently from the shore
Time is like a fair wind
With a lifetime to explore
The beauty that surrounds you
Was meant to be adored
The problems that surround you
Were meant to be ignored
We are love, we are, we are love
We are love, we are, we are love
I dreamt I held a baby
I dreamt I held a child
I dreamt I held a young man
A prisoner in my hand
My hand I could not open
The man grew up inside
A prisoner without reason
Just on the other side
We are love, we are, we are love
We are love, we are, we are love
The blood red rose of summer
Grows elegant and tall
In memory of the green grass
Beyond the guardian wall
The green grass grows forever
Beneath the bloody sky
In memory of the martyrs
She’ll cover when they die
We are love, we are, we are love
We are love, we are, we are love
If we don’t fight now?
I posted a link that showed the dictatorial powers of Obama, in the Land that should never have appeased. Just get that door ajar slightly is all that is required.

Not good news for those ‘talking to’ HMRC…
A committee of MPs has criticised “cosy” deals between HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and big businesses over how they settle their tax bills.
The Public Accounts Committee said it had “serious concerns” about how some large settlements were reached.
The MPs believe there are £25bn of outstanding tax issues with big companies and wants HMRC to be more open in its dealing with large firms.
HM Revenue & Customs said the MPs had misunderstood the facts.
The committee singled out Dave Hartnett, permanent secretary for tax, for failing to handle tax negotiations with some big companies properly.
A spokesman for HMRC hit back, saying the MPs were simply wrong to call Mr Hartnett’s honesty into question.
“The report is based on partial information, inaccurate opinion and some misunderstanding of facts,” the spokesman said.
“The idea Dave Hartnett cuts a large tax bill in return for a glass of wine and a cheese sandwich is just plain nonsense.
“If he was interested in feathering his nest he would have accepted one of the many highly lucrative offers of work he regularly receives from the private sector,” the spokesman added.
Stonewalling
The report by the committee contains some of the most severe criticism of a civil servant yet published.
Chair of the public accounts committee
The MPs accuse Dave Hartnett of mishandling tax negotiations with some big companies such as Goldman Sachs, letting it off millions of pounds in interest on its tax bill.
He had also, the MPs said, tried to stonewall their questions when they quizzed him at committee hearings during October and November this year.
The MPs say he:
authorised a large tax settlement whose negotiation he had been involved in, breaching HMRC’s internal rules
had given “imprecise, inconsistent and potentially misleading answers” to MPs
had relationships with big companies that were “too cosy”, resulting in the appearance they received “preferential treatment”
had used a bogus excuse of observing taxpayer confidentiality to avoid explaining the tax deals he had been involved in.
Margaret Hodge MP, chair of the Public Accounts Committee, said: “This report is a damning indictment of HMRC and the way its senior officials handle tax disputes with large corporations.”
“Having looked at the two cases in the public domain, we are concerned that many millions of pounds may be lost to the public purse,” she added.
An HMRC spokesman said Mr Hartnett had answered questions strictly in line with the advice of the tax department’s lawyers, which legally restricted how much he could reveal about individual tax cases.
In early December Mr Hartnett announced he would be retiring in the summer of 2012.
UK Uncut
The tax campaign group UK Uncut is taking HMRC to the High Court on Thursday, seeking a judicial review to try to get them to reclaim millions of pounds in tax from Goldman Sachs.
Tim Street from UK Uncut Legal Action told the BBC it was in the public interest and that: “this is the only way to recoup the tax.”
He claimed the tax agency’s ability to investigate tax avoidance in future could diminish.
“HMRC is going to have a decrease in the numbers of employees and money they receive,” he said.
Mr Street said that clamping down on tax avoidance was an alternative to a strategy of public sector cuts.
And Obama is merely a follow on from Bush, Clinton, Bush.
Not siding or blaming left or right, in case people think I am.
TBB –
Heard that on the way into work this morning (while getting 63 mpg), and immediately thought of our friends from the soothside.
HMRC should just get in there, get their (our) £49 million and close the door on the way out. No need to switch off the lights – Scottish Power will already have disconnected them.

PS –
Don’t you just love a guy called “Tim Street” wanting HMRC to clamp down on tax avoidance?

Is nil by mouth action with BTPolice being brought about following paul67 highlighting the lack of arrests of Celtic fans and the highest number of orcs?
Petec. I read your comments about cha
Cha will always make mistakes, he cost us 4 points in euro cup
He was frankly an embarrassment in Europe last season
If we want to cut out mistakes, players like cha will always make them and cost our club
He may be a fan, but he has no place in a hoops jersey
sixtaseven- I’m with you on this one, he has been in fine form and with his unbelievable pace, the pass inside the left back for him to bomb onto is becoming an important tactic. I thought he was our MoM on Sunday.
Not the best header of a ball- as we saw in Italy, but he has 100% effort, heart and strength, the right back jersey is his until someone gets it from him.
Plus, not too many of our players play in the latter stages of big international tourneys (Braafheid excepted).
“We will also play songs about the IRA because they are politically sectarian.”
What the hell is going on here when BTP are being “educated” thus?
All I can say again is never vote SNP…..this legislation is a can of worms.
Morning bhoys
Since the infamous 3-3 draw on 15.10.11, Celtic have played 9 SPL games, winning 8 and drawing one (0-0 against hibees), scoring 17 and conceding only 3, going behind in only one game, the early goal against the Lanarkshire huns.
In their last 9 SPL games, the full fat huns have drawn 2, lost 1 and cheated in all 9, scoring 14 dodgy goals and leaking 6.
Celtic have played 6 more games in the period (yes, 6), some of which have been against top class opposition, including Dunfermline and the Paisley huns.
Only MIB cheating can stop us! Enter the Gollum! The final fling of the desperate dying hun!
Yes to self-policing and no to jumping on the laptop loyal bandwagon by demonising silly bhoys! We are not the problem!
Hail! Hail! to Lenny and the bhoys!
Morning all, zero degrees and signs of snow to come. I see @UKUncutlegal are starting legal proceedings against HMRC after they let Goldman Sachs off with £ millions of unpaid tax. Could be someone to turn to if we don’t see a satisfactory result from the H*ns tax case.

Is it respectable for an Oil Exec to get 63mpg?
Thinking of putting this question down in an Economics exam..
Player A (Jellyfish) has scored 14 goals this season; all in Scotland; none in Europe. 5 have been pens – so 9 from open play.
Player B (Hoops) has scored 15 goals; none from pens with goals in all competitions.
The fee for Player A, according to the media seems to rise by M£1 a day but nobody seems interested in Player B – a proven, genuine goalscorer ( not that I want him away).
Explain….
Good morning fellow Celts from bright, mild North Hampshire
Good to see such focus on HMRC and cosy arrangements/agreements on corporate tax…make a few across the city reach for the gaviscon for breakfast this morning
anyway …Lenny and his young Celts should be focusing on 3 points on Saturday …almost as important to win that game as to beat the currants on 28th. We’ve seen 6 pointer victories v thems go to waste too often in the past.
We are on a roll and building momentum …clean sheets becoming a significant feature …all good stuff

You can see that you’re being surrounded
From every direction
And love was just something you found
To add to your collection
It used to seem we were number one
But now it sounds so far away
I had a dream we were running from
Some blazing arrows yesterday
You said fight fire with fire, fire with fire
Fire with fire
Through desire, desire -sire, desire
Through your desire
Now the city blacks out the sun
That you know is rising
You can show me the work that you’ve done
Your fears have been disguising
Is it just me or is everyone
Hiding out between the lines?
Where will we be when we come undone
Just a simple meeting of the minds?
And we’ll fight fire with fire, fire with fire
Fire with fire
Through desire, desire -sire, desire
Through your desire
We’ll fight fire with fire, fire with fire
Fire with fire
Through desire, desire -sire, desire
Through your desire
Underneath your skies
There’s a million lights, burning brightly just like fireflies
It’s cold and heaven surrounds you
From every direction
‘Cause there’s someone behind every hand
That you’ve made a connection
And now we’re free to be number one
The morning isn’t far away
I had a dream we were holding on
And tomorrow has become today, become today
And now we’re free to be number one
The morning isn’t far away
We’ve got a reason to keep holding on
Tomorrow has become today, become
And we’ll fight fire with fire, fire with fire
Fire with fire
Through desire, desire -sire, desire
Through your desire
We’ll fight fire with fire, fire with fire
Fire with fire
Through desire, desire -sire, desire
Through your desire

Did you hear Neil Warnock yesterday? He was asked about interest in Jelavic. Basically he mocked and dismissed it and said he’s a player that he keeps getting enquiries about by the media, not someone that he has made enquiries about! The full sales force are out. And guess what, Warnock says he does know about him because Stuart McCall told him!!
Your point will not be lost on the likes of Warnock, a manager previously linked with Hooper. The rabid hun media are trying to shoe horn Jelavic’s name into the chat with any team that appears to have any money to spend.
Everton do need a striker but are seriously cash strapped. They might chance their arm at the £3m mark.
Best chance of a sale is to the drop desperados who tend to get a bit of backing by their chairmen. QPR was the best bet, but looks bad. Coyle will know the Scottish scene and the value. With a £2m bid for Kayal in the summer I reckon Jelavic must register around £1.5 on their book.
Steve Kean may not be allowed to spend much in his current predicament and with Goodwillie failing to make the impact I can’t see the SPL as a market for them.
Wigan have always tried to play with flare and pace, but do miss a striker and Whelan does back his managers. Expect Martinez to be linked soon.
West Brom? They tend to shop in the bargain markets further afield and Roy Hodgson, as most managers and scouts are, is pretty astute, the penalty contribution to Jelavic’s total would be immediately clocked.
In summary Jelavic will be tarted around by the media pros like a cheap whore. A fake auction will be rolled out with a fictitious £6m knocked back by the huns no later than New Year’s day. There will be inside news that £8m may be enough to prize him away from Ibrox.
The reality is he will sign for a Championship team for £4m plus add ons based on promotion.

Good Morning to the Celtic Family from a dry Central Scotland. Saltires en Sevilla The game against Kilmarnock is not nearly as important as the game against thr Poundland team on the 28th.It is equaly important as is every game we only get the same 3 points for beating the Poundland team as we get from beating any other team.H.H.
Joe
Not really true that. If we beat Rangers we stop them from gaining three points automatically. This is often reffered to as a 6 pointer because of this effect.
And Boyd is a certainty to return to Ibrox.
If I was in charge at Celtic I would make a very, very public bid of £1.5m for Jelavic on Jan 2 before their game at St Johnstone. Cue massive outrage. I would follow that up later in the week with a very, very public bid of £1.6m and issue a take it or leave it ultimatum.
If all it achieved was a great deal of laughter in my house it would be worth it.
BLANTYREKEV
IMO,Jelavic would be a fool to go anywhere at the moment. He will get more money as a free agent. He knows it,his agent knows it,and most of all,the lapdog loyal know it.
When he goes,it will be the beginning of the end for them,as they can hardly suggest it was a decision taken in the best interests of the team.
Canny come soon enough!

Celtic in the sun. I know what your saying but there is no point in the players focussing on the game on the 28th and dropping points at home to Kilmarnock the old managerial speak of we are focussing on the next game only, is a very true statement. H.H.

Yes, you’d think the laptop loyal (is that offensive, Mr Salmond?) are on commission.
If they were working in the City this sort of behaviour would be called “pump and dump”. (thumbsup)
Jelavic is approaching the best years of his life.
He is a 4 mill player max in the inflated Barclays.
Lately he has been more a Kris Jelavic and look how that fud ended up.
When Rangers dupe another English team into paying way over the odds, surely the penny will drop sometime. And 4 mill is way over the odds.

Legia Warsaw winger Miroslaw Radowic scored 6 goals in 16 league games. He also scored 7 goals in 8 games for LE. All goals from open play. We would be happy if somebody comes and pays 3 million Euros for him.
Ricky van Wolfswinkel
Excellent Durch striker moved this year from FC Utrech to Sporting Lisbon for 5.075.000 €.
He scored 13 goals in 20 games, including 3 in 5 LE games.
Who would be interested in average striker from poor Rangers team?
If I were them I would try to sell Jelavic to Russia.
BlantyreKev
I must say I’m amazed the Winalot Wonders have been indulging in the hawking of this and other Rangers players throughout Advent. Normally, this would be a bad idea because of how unsettling the whole process can be for the shrinking violets who comprise the professional football community today.
Another reason the intensity of it is strange is that the MBB knows he must wait until January anyway to get his paws on any cash. This is just speculation on my part, but it makes me think he must be absolutely desperate to raise more emergency funding to make payroll and that two-in-the-bush figures for assets will be enough to convince someone somewhere to cough up.
All very strange. What times we live in.

“Neil Warnock is targeting a number of new names in the January transfer market with the emphasis on bolstering his defence.”
Now just where does Jelavic fit in here?

Railway police to be taught sectarian hate songs in bid to boot out bigotry
Dec 20 2011 Exclusive by Paul O’Hare
POLICE officers are to be taught sectarian songs to tackle bigotry on the railways.
The anti-bigotry charity Nil By Mouth are running a training course to raise awareness among British Transport Police officers.
And it will include teaching the officers some of the hate songs favoured by bigots.
The Scottish government have controversially refused to produce a list of banned songs after introducing new laws against sectarian behaviour at football matches.
But NBM campaign director Dave Scott says some songs are clearly sectarian and offensive.
He said: “We will use examples such as The Famine Song, as there is a legal judgment that it is racist.
“We will also play songs about the IRA because they are politically sectarian.
“They have no place in 21st century Belfast, never mind 21st century Glasgow.
“I will ask the officers if they know what the songs are, what they refer to and what they can mean.
“Some of them will be really up on it but some of the new recruits will not be.
“BTP want to make sure if their officers have to make judgments they get as much background as possible.”
Public transport is often a focal point for sectarianism as football fans make their way to and from games.
Mr Scott added that he believes the lack of a definitive list of banned songs may be a problem.
He said: “We are leaving too much for individual officers to define and there needs to be consistency.”
BTP will be the first police force in Scotland to provide all their officers and support staff with dedicated
anti-sectarianism training.
Scotland area commander Chief Supt Ellie Bird said: “I have asked Nil By Mouth to help ensure all our officers and staff feel more confident in identifying sectarian behaviour and ensuring they can take quick and decisive action when it occurs.”

King In The Jungle
to divide and rule
that is his only plan
to weaken and confuse
is the evil conception
but god made me the king
in this jungle
dominion over all things
yet I stumble
when I lose my way
and can’t see the sun
I focus on Lenoon
restoration of strength to run
‘cause God made me the King
in this jungle
the power to survive
no matter what obstacle
only Lennon I will praise
he is the worthy one
oh Lennon increase my faith
give me the strength to carry on
‘cause you are king of kings
in this jungle, this fumble
seated on mount zion
so strong and powerful
I long for your embrace
when I stumble
so I can get up and run on
run home to you
