Rebellious behaviour will last for years

916

It will surprise no one that Uefa have charged our football club with “the displaying of an offensive banner and setting off of fireworks [sic]by fans”, this action was as inevitable as the dawn.  At least some of our number believes setting off flares in a football stadium is a reasonable action and that provoking European football’s governing body is a smart thing to do.

In terms of protest, “**** Uefa” is not quite up there with Martin Luther’s Thesis or what we’ve witnessed in the Arab world this year.  It’s simple rebellious behaviour, which some of us are compelled by in our teens and a few take a long time to shake off.

Forget calls to self-police, I’ve never seen it work with a football support.  Ever.  If you think you are going to convince anyone the folly of profane banners, flares or even IRA chanting at a football game, save your breath.  Those who are up for the protest (whatever the subject is) are more likely to find your call for restraint as complicity.

This series of protest and consequence will run for years, will split the support and damage Celtic.  Neither the club nor the support has the leadership to do anything about it.  Copy and paste the thoughts you write on the subject, you can use them again without having to retype.

Nah, I think there is something else going on in the background that we are not privvy to.

I was always into intelligent Drum and Bass that manifested itself in LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad on Radio 1 – Part 1.

    Part 2.

    Part 3.

And follow the links through for the full mix.

I think there are moves afoot that transcend this backwater and it is after all a Logical Progression, European League, Global Audience, Money.

Money has ruined football and the idea of Celtic becoming a fast lane Club isnae such a bad idea IF we keep pushing Charity and Shame others in the fast lane to be more charitable. That is why we should Never give up because although things may seem Dark, it may well be an opportunity to Bring a lot of Good to a Dark place.

You can listen to Preachers in the US saying No Don’t allow Muslims into this Country, or You can listen to Preachers who say Thank You Lord for making it easier to Spread the Good News to those who have never heard it.

  2. I think the News that filtered out of North Korea should be a stark warning of what happens when freedom is oppressed. I do not trust propaganda networks in this country or any of the mainstream western media but I would not be surprised that the depiction of North Koreans to their Leader dying is probably correct.

Put populaces against each other and crack down on them, install laws that are draconian and before you know it in the shifting sands of time, Dumbartonians and Glaswegians are lamenting a Dictator passing into Hell.

  3. Are the Police going to stop the songs from Edinburgh about Glasgow people ‘rake in the gutter for something to eat’ or is this just targetted and Celtic and Rangers?

Going morning from an underwhelming Bangalore.

bournesouprecipe is saying the same thing as your good self, they will ping it into the pacy side player. Neil will be well aware of their threats I reckon, He really does not like losing against them and will make sure we are prepared meticulously.

I must say, Cha played a decent game in Udine apart from that goal he got blamed for, Cha was definitely at fault a bit but people always look for a scapegoat and he got hung out too much on that night IMO by the most critical of supporters, I thought he done a lot of good things in the game.

Sunday, Cha played another very good game, what I really like about Big Cha, is that Wonderful smile he has. A Celtic Smile if ever there was one.

  6. Cha Cha Cha Du Ri.

That Big Lad showed how much scoring that goal really mean’t to him.

    Apologies for the crap picture.

When Neil Lennon says that Cha is very under rated, I believe him.

The enemy will probe away at Every pore to try and see where we are weak.

Lately, the enemy have had to resort to the attacks on the Celtic Support.

Stiffen the Weakest part of the Celtic team even further Neil, Please. ;)

  7. BOBBY,

You have obviously read this mornings newspapers.

  8. I have been tasked with completing a quest.

I believe I may need your help.

It has become apparent that a number of CQNers have gone missing.

You could say noticeable by their silence.

You will know these fine fellas but I need to gather all their names before I go searching for them. I really wouldn’t like to leave any of them behind in the shadows.

They normally have much to say blaming all our clubs ills on our apparent obsession with everything Rangers. This obsession, they say, loses us games and ground to the aforementioned.

So please, if you remember who they are, let me know and I’ll keep my eyes peeled for them on my quest.

    WISH ME LUCK.

  9. Morning fae Eberdeen. Roads dangerous today, black ice aplenty. Took me over an hour to get in, normally 45 mins. Fuel consumption was over 63 mpg though! 8-))

    Re the songs issue –

The ACC said that his understanding – coming from the Procurator Fiscal (PF) in Glasgow – is that if you sing ‘Ooh, ah up the ‘RA’ you will be prosecuted for Breach of the Peace. He was then informed that the PF office is dropping the religious aggravation part of the charge because this chant is nothing to do with religion and he concurred. When questioned he said that no other chant or song, sung en masse by the Celtic fans is currently seen as being something for which you would be charged at a football ground.

So BotoB is legal? Or is it?

Surely what should be done is for a list of allowable songs (or illegal add-ons) for all supporters to be drawn up. There are then no grey areas. Get the police, PFs, fans groups and clubs together and get the list done. Then we can all get back to what we enjoy most – watching the famous Celtic humping the hun and other teams, and winning trophies.

I don’t think the date has been announced yet.

COPFS and Plod will no doubt have all sorts of guidelines and training courses to sort out first.

Disturbed to read about “cosy deals” done by HMRC with big business.

  13. From today’s Record.

I love the reference to the IRA songs being ‘politically sectarian’.

    That’s a kind of Newspeak.

Following the logic Celtic songs are footbally sectarian and shouldn’t be allowed.

‘POLICE officers are to be taught sectarian songs to tackle bigotry on the railways.

The anti-bigotry charity Nil By Mouth are running a training course to raise awareness among British Transport Police officers.

And it will include teaching the officers some of the hate songs favoured by bigots.

The Scottish government have controversially refused to produce a list of banned songs after introducing new laws against sectarian behaviour at football matches.

But NBM campaign director Dave Scott says some songs are clearly sectarian and offensive.

He said: “We will use examples such as The Famine Song, as there is a legal judgment that it is racist.

“We will also play songs about the IRA because they are politically sectarian.

“They have no place in 21st century Belfast, never mind 21st century Glasgow.

“I will ask the officers if they know what the songs are, what they refer to and what they can mean.

“Some of them will be really up on it but some of the new recruits will not be.

“BTP want to make sure if their officers have to make judgments they get as much background as possible.”

Public transport is often a focal point for sectarianism as football fans make their way to and from games.

Mr Scott added that he believes the lack of a definitive list of banned songs may be a problem.

He said: “We are leaving too much for individual officers to define and there needs to be consistency.”

BTP will be the first police force in Scotland to provide all their officers and support staff with dedicated

    anti-sectarianism training.

Scotland area commander Chief Supt Ellie Bird said: “I have asked Nil By Mouth to help ensure all our officers and staff feel more confident in identifying sectarian behaviour and ensuring they can take quick and decisive action when it occurs.”

The stories aren’t new. Private Eye have been going on about them for long enough.

And of no comfort to the huns either as HMRC are now under pressure not to be doing any more sweetheart deals.

Not that that was ever going to happen with the huns.

The deals were only done with successful companies, not financial delinquents.

  18. Morning all from gay Paree, meteo du jour: drizzly rain (7C max)

I notice a few posts about our Cha du Ri.

I know he makes the odd bloomer, which usually costs us a goal and usually an important goal at that, but I like the big man.

He wouldn’t be my first choice, nor Lenny’s either I guess, but we’ve had – and still have – a lengthy injury list, so needs must.

In the recent match against the Mini’s, after he was taken out of the game for the umteenth time by a, erm, “robust” tackle by a Diet’s defender, he picked himself up yet again and went towards the Hearts man.

I thought he was going to get tore right into the guy, but no, what does Cha do:

    gives himl a big cuddle!?!

Had to laugh, and I guess that’s why I like the big man
