Regan on SFA acting without fear

944

“The Scottish FA has a responsibility to all its members and must implement its rules without fear or favour”.  Stewart Regan, SFA chief executive, 24 April 2012.

What chance the SFA will be able to act without fear now?  I don’t imply they will act without favour, but do you believe SFA panellists can act without fear?  Anyone who participates in Rangers appeal process and upholds their punishment will act despite fear.

This process, one of the most important the SFA has dealt with in years, has been subverted, and that calls for a far greater sanction that any already imposed.

  1. My overriding emotion regarding all this behaviour is one of tired despair.

Didn’t we all know it would lead to this?

Does it provide us with any satisfaction at all that the rangers fans faithfully play to their stereotype over and over again?

I just want them to go, disappear. Let’s have this sorry mess finished with so that their hatred can slowly dissolve into history along with their club.

  2. Do something. Claim you didn’t do it. Or if you did do it you did it for good reason. And it’s not your fault how other people might interpret it,

Yes, the huns fit nicely into the fabric of Alex Salmond’s Scotland.

  3. I understand the reasons for the penalties imposed by the SFA panel were due, routinely, to be published.

Where are they? Does the fact that RFC(IA) have appealed mean the publication is automatically delayed?

Awe_Naw_No_Annoni_Oan_Anaw_Noo – Bit early for the marching season, is it not?

I guess they need to get their walks in now while there’s still a Rangers to be permanently raging about.

Should we arrange a sweepstake on the number of arrests? (thumbsup)

  5. Fear; Noun. A feeling of distress or alarm caused by danger or pain that is about to happen.

Terror; Noun. Very great fear, panic, or dread.

Terrorism; Noun. The systematic use of violence and intimidation to achieve political ends.

Given what our manager, supporters, the SFA and their independent panel have and continue to be subjected to, one can but wonder………

The RFCIA Fighting Fund is actually money to get them from week to week until the end of the season.

It should be called the Last Chance Survival fund…

..but that would not be dignified enough for them.

at what point does Celtic PLC say anything ?

  11. ABERDEEN FC fans today hit out against the

prospect of a Rangers newco being

    admitted to the SPL.

A massive 97% (1,520) in an online poll are

against a Rangers newco in the top flight

should the Ibrox club go into liquidation

    and be reformed.

Two thirds (67%) of the 1,558 Aberdeen FC

    see the above post.

If Newco lands in the SPL next year then we can pick up this thread again.

I ask you also AT WHAT POINT do you reckon we should ?

How many games will our customers be bare faced diddled out of before we pipe up ?

    Hail Hail

  13. Surely the ability of any future independent panel to judge Rangers is now compromised.

How they can be expected to act without fear or favour after McCoist questioned their integrity with this comment “supposedly independent judicial panel”

Why has McCoist not been asked by the media what he exactly meant by “supposedly independent”

Why has the SFA not made a statement in relation to and in particular to McCoist’s comment, surely they could have least said something along the lines ‘it was not helpful’

Why is it the MSM want this story to go away and are now playing down McCoists role in it by omitting any reference to the damning comment “supposedly independent judicial panel”

  16. Some comments on the previous article about Manager of the Year. For what it`s worth (and to have a wee break from Rangers) here is my view:

Because of what Lennie has had to endure in Scotland, winning the title this year makes him worthy of the Manager OTY award. However, as the SPL has only ever been won by Celtic and Rangers, then the MOTY award would really only be between two if SPL title success is the criteria. That being so, I don`t really care who gets it. I know that, if all the managers in Scotland were available to us, Lennie is the one I would pick. That makes him my Manager of The Year and that will do for me.

In my opinion Rangers TV broadcast a veiled threat from Ali McCoist to the three members of an independent panel set up by the SFA. Reread the language used in the broadcast if you doubt my interpretation. This broadcast was repeated in other media, wrongly in my view, including my own source, BBC Radio 5 yesterday morning. In doing so he placed said members and their families at risk from the type of Rangers supporter recently convicted, and awaiting sentence, in Glasgow. Some or all of the panel members have subsequently been threatened. No matter how disgusted the Rangers manager claims to be, he is, I believe, responsible, in part, for any threats of violence made against the panel members, and as such should be brought to book. He is a disgrace to Scotland, a complete and utter disgrace.

Adam Matthews: Rangers exit would not hinder Celtic signings

    By John Barnes

    BBC Scotland

Celtic’s Adam Matthews believes the absence of Rangers from the Scottish Premier League would not hinder his club’s pursuit of players.

Rangers, currently in administration, face an uncertain future.

And the Ibrox club’s manager told the Rangers website that starting again in the Scottish Third Division may be a realistic option for the club.

“Even if Rangers aren’t in the SPL, Celtic will still be able to sign quality players,” said Matthews.

“If Rangers do have to go to the Third Division we have to live with that and we have to keep doing our job which we’re going to do.”

A 12-month transfer ban has been handed to Rangers following a hearing into alleged breaches of Scottish FA rules and there could be more punitive measures taken against the Ibrox club following an SPL investigation into how players were paid in the previous decade.

Celtic’s SPL title triumph, which ended Rangers’ run of three-in-a-row, was secured earlier this month and Neil Lennon’s side host their Glasgow rivals in Sunday’s final Old Firm fixture of the season.

The previous three derbies this term have ended in home victories.

“The two times we’ve played at Ibrox this season, we didn’t do ourselves justice so we are looking to put that right on Sunday and get a positive result,” added Matthews.

  23. RogueLeader:

That bile from the RST’s Mark Stinkball should result in police involvement. Under a charge of conspiracy to incite public violence.

After joe o’rourke was pressurised into resigning over a joke…what of those exciting potential carnage with their inflammatory statements?

  24. RalphWaldoEllison-is Neil Lennon Season 2011-12 on

Mr Regan and the SFA are well aware of their responsibilities in the mess created by McCoist talking like a boozed up fan directly to boozed up fans.

The police are involved and should be looking at what criminal action has taken place, so that charges will/will not follow.

As things stand we have one witch hunt towards the panel members, but if we are not savvy in how we deal with it, we are in danger of creating another witch hunt against McCoist. In the processs we would turn him into a victim and martyr for their cause. He doen’t deserve that status so don’t give it to him. Nothing so galvanizes a group so much as victimhood.

I’d suggest that when all the various panels that are investigating Rangers have reached their final decisions, after all appeals etc should the club make any kindo f statement, and perhaps even then they should only comment if asked to.

Ask yourself this, would we expect the club to speak if it was Dunfermline or Hibs in the dock? It’s time we stopped treating them differently to any otehr club.

  28. Just listening to the radio there. Some politician “welcoming” McCoist’s remarks.

It’s the same as the poisoned whisper affair. Everybody can see who is to blame for the unpleasantness, but the “Rangers blinkers” go on and we’re asked to accept that black is indeed white. What he said was clearly rabble-rousing, designed to produce exactly the effect that it did. Now he’s the voice of reason.

Somebody earlier, and I’m sorry I don’t remember who, compared him to Ian Paisley. I well remember that man’s smirking, “No violence now boys!” after a piece of thunderous, Catholic-hating demagoguery.

Now he’s to be viewed as a much-loved elder politician.

    No wonder we’re paranoid.
