Scotland has a league with problems.
Our clubs and national association are committed to reorganisation but neither proposal from the Scottish Premier League or Scottish Football League does anything to halt the inevitable decline and marginalisation of our clubs.
In the 60s, 70s and 80s well-run Scottish provincial clubs regularly beat leading teams from big European countries but since then our small domestic market TV market has made most Scottish clubs also-rans, both in Europe and at home. We have a league system where the battle for second place is competitive and interesting but does not carry a meaningful reward; only one club is capable of winning the league.
Before making any changes to our league system we need to consider what changes are happening elsewhere in Europe and have a mature conversation about regionalisation.

I love EN’s enthusiasm about getting Juan Román Riquelme to Celtic Park. I think the guy is sensational as a player and he has never had great workrates or great pace so he definitely could do a job.
I’m always positive about Celtic but I just don’t think we have enough of the technically gifted players (yet) who can create the space for that superstar to work his magic.
I think our best chance to win the CL this season, and I definitely think we can do it, is to get as much pace on the counter attack as possible. Forrest and Sammi are stick ons for me as they are Big Game players away from home. Hooper, not enough pace for me and I think he may go back down South to a big team down there, if he does I would expect Neil to bring in a lightning fast forward.
Timing is everything. ;))

It is just discussion about JRR being good for Celtic. EN has always championed the man and thinks he is the missing link to winning the CL this season.
JRR would have Celtic scoring at least 5 goals every game in Scotland IMO. I tend to think he could cost us winning the CL, not because of him but because of the inferior technical ability of the players around him.

Actually, when I was driving home from Clydebank to Dumbarton (Snyde) I heard a guy William from Ayr (I think) and he laid all the blame on the SFA having a jobs for the boys policy, initially the panel were trying to ridicule him but came round to his point. It sounded like McCall was on the panel, I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him though.
William sounded alright and he was a referee, his comment was that most are middle class professionals that make it to the highest grade, I’m thinking now that the whole of Radio Clyde Sh*t their proverbial pants when they realised who it was. He spoke about having Documented evidence at the very end. ;))
William accused Richmond and Kenny Clark of hypocrisy and straight away he was headed off at the pass, under the guise of Radio Clyde being sued, William then said he had documented evidence and it would have nothing to do with Clyde.

The national ranking is falling and we are now ranked below such football giants as Israel, Greece and Cyprus. Cyprus for heavens sake.
The SFA are perhaps the most entrenched, nepotistic and reputedly incompetent bunch of blazers north of Harare.
Their handling of the “The Rangers” farce has merely underlined their lack of integrity, even to the extent of ignoring and bending their own rule book to favour a single element in the Scottish establishment.
Now I don’t know or care how or how well the football bureaucracies in Brussels, The Hague, Stockholm, Riga or Oslo perform, they can’t possibly be as poor as the administrators at Hampden. Their list of failures will surely be the most common topic of gossip around the Nyon water coolers this Christmas season. Campbell Ogilvie must be the butt of all the jokes and derogatory references.
Would even Iceland, Latvia, Andorra, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg or Montenegro want to have their future viability dependent on the hampden handshakers.
So let’s take our sights off joining any other associations cofounded by the SFA. Our only hope is an invitation to a play off against some Chamionship sides to join an expansion BPL, and I don’t see that in my Christmas stocking this decade.
I know it’s a time to be jolly and positive, but let’s be realistic.
We, Celtic are as always on our own. We need to shake off the shackles of the leeches who would suck us dry while despising us as a club and support.
In the meantime we can only support and encourage the on and off park team wearing the hoops, or the all black strip or whatever the marketing guys next offering is.
