ROGIC’S OZ MISERY

THERE was misery for Tom Rogic as Australia were shocked 1-0 by Jordan in the opening game of the Asian Cup.

The Celtic playmaker, who was forced to miss the Ibrox game before the turn of the year at the insistence of international manager Graham Arnold, was involved for the entire 90 minutes.

Rogic- and Hibs double-act Mark Milligan and Jamie Maclaren – couldn’t prevent a sensational start to the tournament as his nation went down to a 25th-minute strike from defender Anas Bani Jasheen.

The Aussies, who were massive favourites to lift three points, toiled to turn the encounter in their favour and now require wins against Palestine and Syria in their final group matches to qualify for the next round.

Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers voiced his displeasure as Arnold invoked FIFA regulations to remove Rogic early from the Hoops squad for the last game of 2018 in Govan.
