Rosenborg a shadow of former self

874

Congratulations to Celtic, who last night became the first Scottish team to win a European tie since, Celtic, last season. While I am sure we would all have preferred to face Dundalk in the next Champions League qualifying round, a trip to Norway to face Rosenborg will be welcome by the club.

Rosenborg are not the same force we faced 16 years ago, and even that team was a shadow of the team who tested Real Madrid a few seasons earlier. The Norwegians succumbed to the inevitable forces of economic plunder, as clubs from richer leagues picked off their talent at increasingly earlier ages.

We should have more than enough in the tank for this one.

They probably don’t help Celtic at all…but what’s the point now. We could argue this to death

  3. And for the dumb.i thought Celtic wher errrr more than just a club.

If you are, I will buy you a pint in Esquire Anniesland tomorrow. Good guy for a tanned hun haha.

  6. While I expect Celtic to negotiate the Rosenborg tie, there is still some joy to be taken when an underdog team manages to upset a Champions League level team, so long as it is not Celtic.

In the europa league tonight, Ostersunds FK of Sweden, a team formed by amalgamation of 3 lower league Swedish sides in 1996 and who only achieved promotion to the Swedish top flight in 2016, made their first ever uropean appearnce tonight and beat Galatasaray 3:1 on aggregate.

Galatasaray were ranked 45 in european club co-efficients for 2016/17 (34.960)

Celtic, by contrast, were 64th with 26.100

It help’s Celtic the unconditional support they give to the club home and away, regardless if we’re successfull or not. They are teenagers rebelling against authority. Get a grip.

I can respect both sides of the argument and have enjoyed lot’s of stuff the green brigade do.but they need to box clever.

No point in me adding to the disharmony on here today. As Angel Gabriel said earlier….its UEFA party so it’s their rules

  13. Missed game yesterday but my god lots of talk about GB, my view is they help to create great atmosphere just about every game but always liable to get caught up in some shite that leads to fines. Hard to sympathise with them but at same time governing body can be very hypictitocal I.e puppy’s, Mandela, deeming palistine national flag as offensive ( that view is offensice) etc… so in fact politics ok so long as deemed so by authority, not sure I am entirely satisfied with that lot either, if your gonna have rules they should be applied to all clubs without fear or favour

uefa and sfa/ spfl are consistent in their ability to be selective with their own rules to suit I. In scotland clubs docked points for irregular registration of players unless its rangers which renders them blind of blatant cheating and rule breaking

People in glass houses ought not to throw stones expecially if they own the property cause it’s only a matter of time before stones get thrown back ps not literally.

P.s If censorship was the answer Mandela silence would not have taken place as he would still be considered a terrerist by the state, it’s a funny old world

Pps well done aberdeen did not see that result comingredients tonight, hopefully more good results to follow

Something along the lines of title stripping/SFA cover ups would have been much more apt

  20. Jamie Codd was Willie Mullin’s amateur rider for a time, but apparently was naughty a couple of times. All the Point races are videoed as people buy the coverage to see their horse run. Willie didn’t miss and hit the wall. Gordon Elliot was amateur for Martin Pipe senior. Not many people know that. Michael Caine CSC.
