Meanwhile listen to the new CQN Podcast below, it really is worth taking the time.

This edition features a hard hitting introduction from Paul Dykes on the cheating and also a look back at The Celts for Change Years, which will remind you where we were as a football club in the nineties.

    Wee Jamesie.

    Confidence is the issue imho.

His run to the Tims after his goal suggests that is improving .

  2. Johny Hayes may come good .So far he is unconvincing.

I understand the importance of retaining possession for a place in Brendan’s team but you also have to make your opponent earn his paycheck.

The guy had a night off with Hayes whose sole tactic was to pass the ball back from where it came.

The fact that JF roasted the guy for the goal says a lot about how timid a performance Hayes put in.

I know he is still learning our coaches wants and system but will will have to show more spirit and determination than he did tonight to succeed.

    Mate.

I don`t get to the games , but I believe he cops a fair bit.

    That won`t help.

Betcha Brendan is right onto that.

Stereophonics single not out here yet.

    Love that rasping voice.

Many good times over the years, while their music played in the background. Especially with a lovely Saxon girl from Hannover…

    Ah, the memories.

  9. Off to watch the game again, and then bed.

Lovely to see peace and harmony break out amongst Tims today.

The last couple of weeks on social media has been tough going.

Brendan knows what it takes -> just keep winning and silence the gutter media from the off. The hacks are made to look like amateurs when facing him.

  10. INVINCIBLE 'GG on

    According to UEFA

We had 10 shots, 5 on target, 5 off target and 5 corners.

2 yellow cards to Rosenborg players.

Ref was a wee bit lax with some of the late tackles on our players but generally refereed without being overly officious.

  13. re Legia Warsaw Banner,

If only a very artistic Celtic supporter could draw/paint a huge banner with……..Peter Lawwell in the Hoops, standing over a very frightened Stewart Regan….with a rolled up copy of the 5 way agreement held to Regans head, with the word ” LIAR”, at every SPL game…would SFA dare to ban that ?

I am not trivialising what the Nazis did in Warsaw or anywhere else.

Who the feck is ESPLIN ?

  14. Good morning CQN from a brightish and showery East Devon.

Well done to Celtic last night, didn’t see any of the game but followed it on here, thank you to the guys for the updates, they were greatly appreciated.

    Onwards and upwards.

” Ronnie Esplin is a sports reporter who writes for the Press Association and also has a wiikely blog on STV’s website. A former managing editor of Arena Leisure’s football website, he has previously written for various publications.”

Kinda think he displays hunnish tendencies.

  16. This undefeated run away from home in Europe is getting tedious. Added to our unbeaten domestic run, it’s all too predictable. Bring back Tebily….I need some anxiety when watching football.

  17. How about a TIFO with Brendan in the HOOPS …..Regan in the shower. ( won’t dwell on that ) Brendans shadowy figure approaches the shower curtain and raises a rolled up copy of the 5 way agreement, as if he’s Norman Bates from “Pyscho” ?

” Brendan Bates” …it’s got a certain ring to it…..a shower curtain ring maybe ?

    I’ll get ma coat.

    HH

    SFA/UEFA try banning that ya bassa’s ?

  18. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t overly confident going into that match last night. After the first leg without a striker, going into the second leg without a striker starting had me concerned that we would create very little. However, the first half calmed me down a lot. We dictated play, were putting dangerous balls into the box and created two excellent chances. In the second half Rosenborg came out of the traps quickly (let’s face it at some point they were going to put us under pressure – it’s their home game!), but even then I felt the commentators were more panicky than I was.

We rode out a 15 minute spell where Rosenborg punted the ball up to Bendtner, who linked up well with his supporting players, but in all of that time Rosenborg had two threatening shots but neither were actually on target. Then the Griff came on and the shape of Celtic, and the tie, changed. Rosenborg were getting a bit prematurely desperate to create something and left a lot of opportunities for Griffiths and Forrest to stretch their defence. During the first half their compact formation was very noticeable but as the second half wore on they were noticeably stretched. I was surprised as I thought the smart play would be for them to hold out as long as possible then capitalise on their superior fitness as time wore on. Their manager got the tactics wrong. But Brendan didn’t :)

BR’s game management was excellent in terms of the substitutions of Griffiths and Rogic. He saw that Rosenborg were exposing themselves and introduced two players that would stretch them. Sinclair had a below par attacking performance but must take credit for setting up Forrest who showed that he really does have a bit of magic by continuing his own personal UCL qualifiers Crossbar Challenge.

After the goal, Rosenborg offered pretty much nothing. Anything they flung forward was swatted away by Jozo and Bitton, who, for me, were joint men of the match.

Brilliant result and excellent display of personality from the team.

    Bring on the….whoever….

    (whomever??)

  21. Still smiling about last night’s performance, apart from early 2nd half spell.

I do not think Jamesie lacks confidence. He turns up every 2nd week to perform his skills in front of a fairly hostile audience.

And, by every 2nd week, I am not referring to our away fixtures.

Off to work in a fairly tim-free part of S. Lanarkshire this morning
