I think SFTB meant James must be confident if he can still perform in spite of the hostility.

Woke up delighted and very proud of the bhoys for coming through a treacherous tie last night. I was confident before and during most of the game, but still anxious until the goal. Was struck beforehand how bullish Brendan & Chris Davies were. Never seen that before a crucial away game before. Different times. Bred confidence in me and they were vindicated in the end. Onwards to Hertz, the play off and the Judicial Review!

  9. good morning from an overcast and rainy north staffs – got a bit of a spring in my step this morning thanks to last nights result.

TD67 – have you drunk your winnings yet?

  10. David, that’s the very bam…………

I thinks he’s done a few on Celtic as well mind……..but his natural environment would seem to be a certain Asbestos ridden Edwardian toilet block……….

  11. Not only was James’ goal not shown during the Scottish News segment of BBC Breakfast, the result didn’t even get a mention.

Rectified when they returned to the main broadcast, both great goal and result, thankfully.

Sure I’ve seen scores mentioned from the previous evening’s games often, especially in other big competitions like the Petrofac cup.

    Hurtin’ much at our Progrês?

  12. A few beers/wines taken while nervously watching the game in the pub with my brother.

I thought we were by far the better team but you do worry when you miss chances. Great performance in the end and a big relief.

Celtic haven’t invested (again) and that’s why we are walking a tightrope again.

As for the judicial review – I would be happy to contribute but the real story here is celtic not taking this forward (again). I look forward to Paul telling us why they aren’t.

Armstrong’s performance was very patchy and reckless at times, especially with that second half, well-off-the-ball lunge that gave them a free kick in a dangerous position.

I said in pub last night that I was confident that we would keep a clean sheet, they caused very little problems and only had a bit of pressure at start of 2nd half..

Not been as confident of a clean sheet since MON was manager…

  15. David :0

    That would seem about right.

Poor oul’ Frank ( what a player!) doesn’t have great form in choosing hacks to have lunch with tho’….sadly.

Very professional performance last night from the players and management. Well done to all involved. Not nearly as tense a ‘watch’ as i had expected. Excellent performances from most, but special praise for wee James Forrest. Never stopped trying and keeps making his critics eat their words.

A thought on the Legia Tifo last night – when are we expecting a statement from the Legia board criticising those responsible and announcing a blanket ban on the 10,000 – 12,000 in and around those involved. Also, will there be a Norwegian HSE report on the jumping up and doon of the Norwegian Blue Brigade during the game last night. Maybe they were just sitting and standing very quickly.

    ——————————————————————————-

I know what you mean. Throughout their spell of pressure in the second half I was as relaxed as I can ever remember being watching Celtic away in Europe. Jozo and Nir Bittonbauer dealt with the second half pressure remarkably well.

  18. BT

Clean sheets? You should really have some genetic advantage re goalkeeping if you want to opine on such things? Some family history with regard to goalkeeping. My great grandfathers 3 rd cousin twice removed had a trial for Queens Park. I’m qualified to voice my opinion

What makes you think you qualify:-)

Celtic haven’t invested (again) and that’s why we are walking a tightrope again.

£5.8m on two players? The manager saying he wants to wait until late in the window when the English market opens up and more players become available?

  21. Tightrope?

We’ve done all we could do? When wouldn’t we be on a tightrope then? Spend £20m? Or is it £30m? Does that guarantee you qualify? If it does I agree we should buy our way in.

    Beatbhoy,

It’s not just us, I’ve noticed Reporting Scotland this year have failed to report on Aberdeens good European results.

It’s almost as if European football ceased to exist after a certain club failed to make progress.

  23. 10 games, lost 1 goal, a penalty. All with an ever changing defence, we seem to have a system that works and all of the players have bought into.

  24. blantyretim is praying for the Knox family on

    Twisty

I played in goal at the 5’s about 30 years ago for 10 minutes.. :-))

  25. Today’s question

You are CEO of Celtic and the transfer window is open.

Do you buy a couple of players to try and help qualify for the champions league or do you hope to qualify with what you have and attract better players with the extra money) prestige?

This is not a dig at anyone just a genuine question.

Personally I thought that we would not have to add to the squad to qualify…but with injuries I could be wrong.

  26. BT

10 minutes? You must have been a lot fitter then :-)

    Cheerio for now.

    JJ

  27. Cathedral View…..

Agreed. Going back to when thems were liquidated it was noticeable on Shortie that Celtic’s prominence disappeared with a flick of a switch.

Visually at least, the Celtic stories were down-played or relegated. Anything to not sadden the eyes of the Ugly Mob. at the same time Aunties cameras seemed to follow every outing up hill, down dale and o’er hedge – ( Annan) ? to follow, follow the deady berrs……..

    Horrible hurtin’ huns………………..

We were never, ever paranoid enough.

On the draw for play-offs, interestingly, Aberdeen were drawn against Rijeka in Europa league qualifiers in 2015. drew 2-2 at Pittodrie and Aberdeen won the game in Croatia 3-0.
