Rue the day Dave King decides he has had enough of Ibrox

423

Few will be surprised that the Takeover Appeal Board (TAB) ruled Dave King acted in concert with George Taylor Douglas Park and George Letham when buying a controlling interest in Newco Rangers two years ago, another “favourable settlement”, you could say.

In their statement, TAB wrote, “Over the last two years Mr King has had ample opportunity to disclose documents and to provide other evidence to rebut any deeming, presumption or inference from the evidence that he was acting in concert with Messrs Letham, Taylor and Park. He has not done so.”

So far, so clear-cut, but while this is an unwelcome distraction (or more) to Dave, King, I genuinely hope he has the wherewithal to fund any necessary share purchase. It is difficult to overestimate the extent to which King’s position inhibits Newco.

The club will go nowhere while it remains in his clutches. It is far from clear who would pick up the years of potential liabilities should he exit (forget Sugar Daddy fantasies), but better the devil we know – when we know so much about him.

We have the perfect controller of Newco. He leads through PR dictate, appeals to the lowest common denominator, sat as a director through Oldco’s ignominious demise, and appears to have enough funding capacity to get them as high as third in the league.

I will rue the day Dave King decides he has had enough of Ibrox.

Many thanks to all who contributed to the Lisbon canvass raffle for Alzheimer Scotland. The competition is now closed and we raised an incredible £3264. The winner has been in touch, so if you don’t know already, unfortunately, it’s not you.

This has been another small excerpt in the Great Celtic Story. Well done.

This shows you how much I watch EPL football…but that’s the first time I’ve heard the Leicester fans doing that shout at the opposition goalkeeper when he kicks the ball out…

I really hope they get hammered after that.

    Then relegated.

Then I hope they go out of business.

    Just because of that thing.

LOL! Hope I never borrow a CD from you and fail to return it. Harsh!

I’m just putting across my opinion that the high share price is due to accessing the richies of CL football via firstly investing in the team.

We have been a well run club financially for years but under investment and no CL football did not raise share price.

I am hard on the board as they act aggressively against their own fan base handing personal details to cops without warrants, act in dark rooms instigating campaign against GB, spend more years under investing in team than they do investing with a view to CL providing me as a support with poor managers or decent managers who have one foot tied around their necks. And they bottled taking on Res12 with a view IMO to not upset the gain of the Blue pound and rob their own supporters with an agreement with a wee diddy team at £49 a hot and £30 for kids (CL last 16 prices). I dislike 100% their lack of connection with their supporters, or should I say customers.

That apart I think they do do a lot of good work financially and paying the foundation employees directly, the Christmas financial gifts to people in the community etc.

When these things are highlight I do congratulate them.

But as a supporter and fan I really couldn’t care any less about the share price unless of course if it were so low that it would cause problems. But we both know financially they are too astute to risk their annual dividend payments.

Hmm.. so lets see what’s news on our beloved Holy Willie hyperlink today…

    1. I see that the legitimization of the OF continues from Paul67 as the word “rangers” appears more and more in his missives. Also..”rue the day” ? I guess that means that there will be a day in the future where we should be worried about thems; just not yet??

    Good points re supporter engagement.etc.

I am a ( very small/ emotional) shareholder and honestly couldn’t have told you our share price.

For me the Boards prudent management, which I agree has led to some poor decisions, Ronie?, has ultimately allowed us to follow an upward graph in overall performance and I believe we are now on the cusp of or indeed may actually be in a golden period in our history.

    The trend is good

I have to say I agree more or less with your supporter related issues but would say without being privy to their thought processes I would have to assume their assessment is that their decisions are in Celtic’s best interest. As I have said before on here they are merely the current custodians of the Celtic story and I think overall history will judge them kindly

The cheating isn’t what annoys me most, its the arrogance that follows it. From Farry through Smith, Peat and Ogilvie, their immediate response to major MIB cheating is to reward the official who favoured the Hun’s. Remember the linesman who invented a penalty for them at Tynecastle in a close title race. He got the Scottish cup final. More recently McLean, Madden et al have all been paid through being slotted in for further games the weekend after a howler against us.

Big cup, that’s what I mean. A Poor performance against us means they don’t get dropped and instead get a thousand pound reward of a game to ref the next weekend.

    I enjoyed your earlier post.

I would have insisted on points for our 4 EC SF appearances though. I think they’ve had one. Ten points for each one. There’s yer dinner, Sevcovian!

  22. Why are we so dismissive of the share price and the club’s market value.

The higher value allows us to make investments with money borrowed at favourable interest rates, which of course reduces our running costs.

    Investments in stadium facilities:

    Safe standing area(s)

    An all weather pitch

    Enhanced training systems and facilities

    Bathroom upgrades

    The Celtic Way

    The Celtic Way hotel

A gazebo and cafe at CQN Corner

    Etc

This will be how we attract players, professional management and fans.

This will be how we will remain at the top of the SPFL dung heap.
