Rue the day Dave King decides he has had enough of Ibrox

423

Few will be surprised that the Takeover Appeal Board (TAB) ruled Dave King acted in concert with George Taylor Douglas Park and George Letham when buying a controlling interest in Newco Rangers two years ago, another “favourable settlement”, you could say.

In their statement, TAB wrote, “Over the last two years Mr King has had ample opportunity to disclose documents and to provide other evidence to rebut any deeming, presumption or inference from the evidence that he was acting in concert with Messrs Letham, Taylor and Park. He has not done so.”

So far, so clear-cut, but while this is an unwelcome distraction (or more) to Dave, King, I genuinely hope he has the wherewithal to fund any necessary share purchase. It is difficult to overestimate the extent to which King’s position inhibits Newco.

The club will go nowhere while it remains in his clutches. It is far from clear who would pick up the years of potential liabilities should he exit (forget Sugar Daddy fantasies), but better the devil we know – when we know so much about him.

We have the perfect controller of Newco. He leads through PR dictate, appeals to the lowest common denominator, sat as a director through Oldco’s ignominious demise, and appears to have enough funding capacity to get them as high as third in the league.

I will rue the day Dave King decides he has had enough of Ibrox.

Many thanks to all who contributed to the Lisbon canvass raffle for Alzheimer Scotland. The competition is now closed and we raised an incredible £3264. The winner has been in touch, so if you don’t know already, unfortunately, it’s not you.

This has been another small excerpt in the Great Celtic Story. Well done.

    Cheers for reply .

Video refs would make the cheating a lot more difficult for them for sure.

My fear would be that the footballing establishment that will implement any changes and pass down final adjudication on contentious decisions, is the same mob who have overseen decsdes of favoritism for ‘ their ‘ club.

Potential for a ‘ not proven ‘ or similar type of none judgement to be part of any new legislation governing our game wouldn’t surprise me. It’s something we would have to be vigilant about .The cheating privilege they have enjoyed for years won’t be given up easily by those who meet in secret.

My hope would be that there is enough appetite out there to make these desirable changes a reality longer term.

Stuck with the staus quo for now but we live in hope

Frank has now joined me on the hunger-strike. I saw the boys at Mass today which I enjoyed. Fr Toner said Mass.

Again it was a pretty boring day. I had a bit of trouble to get slopped out tonight and to get water.

I have a visit tomorrow and it will be good to see my family. I am also looking forward to the walk in the fresh air, it will tire me out, but I hope the weather is good. I must go.

  6. So many times over the history of Govania, I have sadly missed Paul McConville.

I am sure he’d have given us a very thorough explanation of the ramifications behind the Takeover Panel Executive’s decision (that King acted in concert with Messrs Letham, Park & Taylor) …

Now I am very ignorant of such matters, but given the judgement that they acted in concert, doesn’t that mean that they have to buy out the other shareholders in concert too?

Therefore if Mr King decides to remain bunkered up in far off South Africa and doesn’t cough up, doesn’t that then put the onus on the other members of the concert party to come up with the full amount?

According to JohnJames (yeah, I know, pinch of salt there) no-one but no-one will do any business whatsoever with any of the companies associated with King. Does that not then equally apply to the other members of the concert party too.

If so, it makes it rather more interesting indeed…..

Surely, there are others around who can shed a light on the full repercussions of this decision.

    Your fear is well founded.

However , can you imagine a panel of three looking at the slow mo footage of the penalty against the hun and saying ” no pen “.

What would be the reaction in the studio ? Utter disbelief .

The only excuse for hun Madden was …………..unsighted.

That excuse would no longer be valid.

Mate . It wont be perfect but it will be better.

Good Morning Bhoys from a dry but heavy sky Central Scotland. The only way to beat the cluggers on the park is to clug them back harder now initialy we may get a player or two ordered off but eventualy the cluggers would learn if you clug a Celtic player it will cost you painfully. There is no point in waiting for the authorities to sort it out as it is not going to happen we need an Auld a Gemmell or a Larrson in the team players who could look after themselves if you cant beat them join them. H.H.

  12. All of this King stuff is bad news.

He doesn’t have the money to mount a serious challenge to us.

Mike Ashley was out manoeuvred early in the game.

He is playing the long game.

He has the money to mount a serious challenge to us.

He also has he balls to stack the funding up in one season ,and spread the loss over 5 years to deal with FFP rules.

It would only take one league win and CL qualification to completely reverse the income streams of both Sevco and Celtic.

Mike Ashley us the biggest threat to our challenge of reaching 10.

Let’s hope King can survive this.

  13. JFH,

The SMSM are already sharpening the knives for our captain and the young lhad, Kouassi. We are not going to be allowed to dish it out. All that will happen is that we will have our players ordered off.

  14. Canny fathom out the fixation on here with king the past few days , how does that saying go again , never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake . We should heed that , as if you read back on the JJ site a few months ago , he more or less told you , that if the Gsl wasn’t in situ at ibrox then ash would be . So I would say , long live the king . Instead of bothering about Kings troubles , we should be collectively as celtic supporters ,figuring out how we tackle the cheating at the SFA , and there allocation of known Hun referee,s to our games . A lot of posters on here have

Stated that the treble is on , make no mistake ,its only on if the mibs let it be on . We only need to cast our minds back a couple of years to see how easy it is for them to scupper that plan . Sunday only enhanced that .

ROBINBHOY Thanks for asking Gloria is at home at the moment she is very weak and tired but in good spirits she will learn on Friday if she is to have radio therapy or not but we are praying that it is not needed.Talking is very difficult for her as also is eating but it a slow pace to a full recovery but we are hopefull. PARKHEADCUMSALFORD. Imagine if we were playing football and you clugged me 10 mnutes or so later I clatter you a real painfull one ok the ref sends me off. However, the next match as we are going on the park I warn you clug me at your peril as I will be waiting on you dont you honestl think you would lay off the clugging ? H.H.

  17. JFH,

No. The opposition know they can clug us at will and we will get no protection. It has been ever thus, only now it is happening in virtually every game against virtually every team. Sunday only reinforced it. We are being kicked every game. How many of our players have had serious injuries inflicted this season and how many opposition players have been red carded? Nary a one. The fix is well and truly in. It is the only thing preventing us from winning the treble, as it has done in many previous seasons. Those who run Scottish football do so for the benefit of one team and all those playing us on a particular day.

  18. I think the main thing we learned on Sunday (as if we didn’t already know) is a one goal lead going into the last ten minutes against ZombieFc will never be enough.

Everything was going to plan for the zombies till Armstrong threw a spanner in the works with a piece of individual brilliance. He was the main threat and they must have been delighted to see him go off. I’m still puzzled by that decision.

  19. Think we have a really good side at the moment but it’s a bit in the nice/light side ,which was exposed on Sunday.

Madden was the deciding factor as to why we didn’t win but it wasn’t pleasant to watch the huns kick us with none to little payback from our guys

Mon’s Celtic team had the perfect blend of grit and guile, maybe Kouassi will add a bit of bite we lack?
