Scott Brown, Great Scottish Runner

875

You seldom hear football people speak as unguardedly as Peter Grant did to The Herald yesterday about Scott Brown.  “If somebody had offered us £4m (in 2010)?  I would have driven him down the road myself”.  The tone of Peter’s piece was supportive, though.  Our former assistant manager affirms Scott is a vastly improved performer since.  I agree.

You never really know what is going on inside a squad.  Footballers play with injuries, many find the distractions of wealth all-consuming and some are simply deployed incorrectly.  At the #19 game last week I recalled the form of Stiliyan Petrov under John Barnes, he was lost, especially when playing right back.  Bobby Petta also looked out of sorts under Barnes but within weeks of playing for Martin O’Neill both were among the most valuable assets at the club.

Neil Lennon told us last week that Scott Brown was unfit during last season’s Champions League campaign.  It’s clear that he is an incredibly more effective player when fit, but Peter Grant suggests Brown has also learned positional discipline, a subject he has previously been criticised here for.

A lot of Scott’s contribution is off the ball.  He closes space, filling the park with a presence, which is defensively important, especially on Champions League duty.  I’ve never seen Celtic’s yardage stats on players but you have to think he’ll top the list most weeks, he is the Great Scottish Runner, but all that energy needed to be harnessed correctly, which is perhaps what Scott is learning from former midfielder, Neil Lennon.

The next achievement to look out for from Scott is a marquee performance on a European stage………

Which leads us onto the Great Scottish Run.  You can still sign up for the run, and if you’ve registered already, or are still to register, you can participate in the 1254125 campaign.

The heart and soul of our community is something we cannot take for granted.  It has flourished because you, and countless thousands before you, have decided to improve the lives of those around you by getting involved in the name of Celtic.

On Sunday 6 October there is a 10k and Half Marathon.  If that is beyond you. There are family events taking place the day before.

The first thing you need to do is sign up for the Great Scottish Run, or here for one of the family events.

Once you’ve done that, you can register for the 1254125 campaign here.

Then you can create a donations page here.  Click Start Fundraising, search for Celtic Charity, setup your My Donate account).

  1. Ramsdens cup final always played in a participant stadium, that does not read as Finalists stadium. Possibly Dundee or Dunfermline???

If more Celtic supporters were like hen1rik, The Rangers would not be in the process of being brought back to life. Apathy from Scottish football fans has allowed them to reincarnate. It’s the apathy from the Celtic support that concerns me. Worse still is the many who want ‘them’ back.

After all the blogs and comments I have read on the great Scottish football swindle. I find it very shocking that less than 100 people have signed canamalars’ proposal. Whatever excuse is made for that is poor. When Rangers are back in the SPL and Celtic are being cheated, I don’t want to read how upset those supporters are about that. They would have stood on our windpipe if the roles had been reversed. It makes me puke so many Celtic supporters are on their knees giving them mouth-to-mouth.

    Well said mate.

No doubt once the cheats are back singing their bile and getting their usual honest mistakes against us the ones that said nothing will be the first on here to complain.

If our club remains silent on this shenanigans then that could be the final nail for quite a few supporters I’m afraid.

Our club had numerous chances to stop this in its tracks but they chose not to so why is that ? I’ll tell you why greed they are desperate to reunite the OF fixture.

You mean emigration from Scotland to Poland in XVI century?

More than 100 000 people moved to Poland first due to the economy reasons. Poland was the biggest country in Europe at that time. Second reason was wars on the island. Many knights, noblemen were looking found asylum in Poland. Second wave of movement (the smaller scale) from Scotland to Poland was in XIX century. They were mostly engineers etc.

“I find it very shocking that less than 100 people have signed canamalars’ proposal. Whatever excuse is made for that is poor. ”

Are you really shocked? As a shareholder that agrees with the substance of Canamalars’ proposal I find I am unable to do so because of the anti-board sentiments of his most vociferous backers.

Now if it was an Auldheid proposal I’d be behind it.

    As it stands; then no.

Now I don’t know Canamalar from Adam but if I Google Canamalar I find:

I was not. However there are many share-holders who post in here who have not returned signed resolutions. There are also many in here that cannae wait to play ra Rangers.

My post was made in here, so logically I was directing the post to those who use this site. I’ve posted similar elsewhere as not every Celtic fan uses CQN. I have asked in previous posts in here and elsewhere for people to re-post in the Celtic sites that they use and e-mail the friends and family that they know have shares, or know people who do.

I have seen Canamalars’ resolution on Facebook; Twitter; The Celtic Network; The Celtic Trust; Billy No’Well’s Desert Island Tims and Phil MacGiollaBhain’s blog. I have heard it has been on other websites such as Celtic minded.

Time is running out for this proposal. If everyone could make an extra special effort this week to source more interested share-holders, it would be greatly appreciated and will make the difference between it being accepted for this AGM.

We need to give Celtic the signed proposals six weeks before the AGM. They only need to give four weeks notice to hold the AGM. An educated guess could mean this week is our last chance to get enough share-holders on-board.

Morrissey 23rd, well said. Still less than 100 at this stage is utterly pathetic of our support. There must be many more than that on here who could sign up. It takes minutes and does not cost the earth.
