Scottish football against corruption

1216

The world looked so different for Scottish Football League chief executive, David Longmuir, back in March.  He convinced half of the member clubs to reject a deal which would earn them considerably more money next season, while enjoying the accolades of Rangers International chief exec, Charles Green.

Green remains a controlling director of Rangers International, but Longmuir’s actions infuriated First Division clubs, who have now applied to join the SPL, furious at his attempts to subvert them earning what many see as crucial income next season.

To suggest Longmuir acted in the interests of one Third Division club to the considerable detriment of all First Division clubs would be stating the obvious.  These shenanigans still go on in Scottish football, even now, after all that happened last year, but it is reassuring that the overwhelming majority of voices have, again, said, ‘On your (boardroom) bike’.  We are rapidly becoming one of the least corrupt countries football is played in the world.  Good luck to all in the First Division.

I read the leaked document, Rangers (sic): the way forward, yesterday afternoon.  It was so ludicrously lacking in anything which remotely resembled substance I assumed the leak was an attempt to discredit Charles Green.  Then I heard BBC’s Chris McLaughlin say it was Green himself behind the leak.  The fact that the Rangers International director categorically recognised the club is lumbered with a lame manager hardly passes for insight. The document was embarrassingly inept.

“The team will work for each other and press the opponents when not in possession.

“Most of all, players will come off the park knowing that they have done their best.”

In a high-level policy document this is cringeworthy.

Fed up being told games mean nothing.

We are Celtic and every game in Scotland should mean something.

If this was a rare performance then I could understand but this is becoming the norm.

    Our coaching limitations are glaring.

We should be talking about Europe primarily.

We need to have all the teams competing against us, testing us.

Scotland is a very Good Country IMO but it really does have to be CLEANSED.

Deeper than anyone will ever realise. I remember SFTB speculating that Campbell Ogilvie was working for us? who is us?

Kojo, himself, would definitely want SFTB back on this Wonderful blog.

Changing the players is not the issue.I think a squad rotation is vital over a long season.

Lack of a properly implemented playing system is a real worry.

I don’t see the point of giving Paddy 8 minutes.

Agreed I’ve said the whole season the problem is in the midfield where we are told we are well quoted, today was not a day for both Dylan and Kris, I thought Kris was poor today, easy to say though 80 mins into the game.

What bothers me though on here is that the other team never get any credit, Ross County are a decent team with two or three good players, they are hard to beat up there and they work very hard. In their first season they are pushing for a Euro spot, chapeau as they say over here..

All that being said this season was always going to be one where we had the possibility to experiment and as an aging Hoop I have enough patience left to watch the team grow next season, the Cup Final is a chance for this team to cement their progress, let’s hope they do, it would be worrying if they don’t..

europe apart – the league has been every bit as bad if not worse to watch than any recent season in the past 10 years or so – absolutely turgid – with nothing to look forward to at all
