I know what you are worried about after last night’s Scotland performance, “He’s going to throw James Forrest in now.” My feeling on the matter is that James, Callum and Kieran all need to ‘work on their fitness’ a bit.
Since managing Scotland for a few months in 2007, a period that included a 0-1 win in Paris, Alex McLeish has been found out in five subsequent appointments, ending ignominiously in North Africa. He has the look of what he is, a man earning enough to make good on a tax bill that recently came his way, and nothing else. Nice gig if you can get it. He also selects players who are banned for life from the national team.
Scotland have the players to beat the 94th team in the world but were not sufficiently competent to fix up a manager who already lives in the country but manages in Belfast, or conduct an adequate search for an alternative.
The result of this, is that fans stopped caring, as do many players, by the look of it. I don’t know a single person who was upset last night, the Scotland international football fascination is over. The once great endeavour of football as a self-contained unit in Scotland is over, everybody knows it. Send our players back to Lennoxtown as soon as possible, please.

Scroll down to the last paragraph entitled “Souperism ”
There were plenty of charitable efforts by people of all religions and none. The one that remains notorious in folk memory was the “soup if you convert “

Had to google Casanova.
Had forgotten the name.
I used to pick up my good lady on a Saturday night after she had finished her shift .
She gets in the car and asks;
” What does ‘ yer nuts ‘ mean ? ”
” What ? ” says I.
As I was leaving , the girls were asking me :
” Are ye away aff tae get yer nuts , hen ? “

Charles Trevelyan…you know
During the height of the famine Trevelyan deliberately dragged his feet in disbursing direct government food and monetary aid to the Irish .In a letter to an Irish peer, Lord Monteagle of Brandon, a former Chancellor of the Exchequer, he described the famine as an “effective mechanism for reducing surplus population” as well as “the judgement of God” and wrote that “The real evil with which we have to contend is not the physical evil of the Famine, but the moral evil of the selfish, perverse and turbulent character

Charles Trevelyan who oversaw the irish famine also oversaw the Highland Clearances
In 1851, McNeill published a report to the Board of Supervisionsummarizing his views and proposing the “large-scale emigration of the ‘surplus’ population as the only way forward”.This view was strongly shared by Sir Charles Trevelyan, Assistant Secretary to Her Majesty’s Treasury in London. He saw emergency food supplies as a “useless palliative”and thought that emigration to Australia would provide the relief needed.
By April 1852, Trevelyan had founded the Highland and Island Emigration Society, with McNeill, following a meeting at the Freemasons’ Tavern

The political and ideological descendants of Charles Trevelyan now oversee the British State. One of the richest states in the world where food banks abound and “children stare through heroin eyes ”
And its still the fault of the foreigners the strangers the savages etc

The catholic church did provide relief to the starving as did many others.

When you have a positive outlook on life , it`s easier to confront the negatives when they come along .
Recently , a few backward steps for our Celtic , but the trajectory remains on the up .
Certainly better than a few years back imho.

I know with the benefit of hindsight the Irish Diaspora was probably a good thing for the world. Indeed I wouldnt be alive, or many posters on here, or even ALL, of us wouldnt be here today. It changed the world, as many great disasters did, WW2 and so forth.
So I ask myself the question..What will the next big disaster to make mankind go forward? Or will we just keep making the same mistakes.?
Macjay 12.18pm
I fear for our young fans who have never went through a hun defeat ..y two young nephews now think they never beat us …. their life will about them and so it should … I look forward to their grief (as long as it’s only 1 game :-)
