Send our players back to Lennoxtown as soon as possible

I know what you are worried about after last night’s Scotland performance, “He’s going to throw James Forrest in now.”  My feeling on the matter is that James, Callum and Kieran all need to ‘work on their fitness’ a bit.

Since managing Scotland for a few months in 2007, a period that included a 0-1 win in Paris, Alex McLeish has been found out in five subsequent appointments, ending ignominiously in North Africa.  He has the look of what he is, a man earning enough to make good on a tax bill that recently came his way, and nothing else.  Nice gig if you can get it.  He also selects players who are banned for life from the national team.

Scotland have the players to beat the 94th team in the world but were not sufficiently competent to fix up a manager who already lives in the country but manages in Belfast, or conduct an adequate search for an alternative.

The result of this, is that fans stopped caring, as do many players, by the look of it.  I don’t know a single person who was upset last night, the Scotland international football fascination is over.  The once great endeavour of football as a self-contained unit in Scotland is over, everybody knows it.  Send our players back to Lennoxtown as soon as possible, please.

TT was at all 3 of those games – great memories indeed

5-1 of course we were 1 down to a forest goal in the first couple of minutes then scored 5 in the second half

*emmm it was the wee dive bomber wilson that scored for them, the wee bunion henderson was injured and he replaced him on the right wing, ran tae the jungle tae celebrate, wee bassa.

3-1 my mate left when they got a penalty – we were shooting into the hun end in 2nd half – bit like vojvadina

*I was in the Jungle and more than a few tried tae leave, the Jungle closed ranks that day thankfully. After kai yai yippee hit the bar the ball stoated on the line and bounced up again he ran tae heider it pushing andy penman who wisnae a hun BTW oot the way, if he had hit it the ball would have went through the net and landed at brigton cross, after he tamely heidered it Bobby Murdoch picked it oot the air. The next day he said he didnae heider it as the ball was over the line and he was jumping for joy when it hit him on the heid.

Several years later the same andy penman starred for the Red Lichties in a 3-2 win at hades, the hun goalie a lad fae up the street fae me had his only game for them.

4-0 we were still celebrating buzzbombs goal when turned round to see big George rob greig and waltz round the keeper

*I was sitting in an apartment in TO listening tae the FA Cup Final on the radio when the commentator said it was 1-0 tae the ‘tic early doors, just at the half at Wembley he went back tae hunden and it was 3-0, a WTF moment.

*That was the 3-1 game we just spoke about BP, possibly cost james scotland symon (whit a name lol) his job a couple of months later. Yes sir furious did play as well as sorenson and penman signed that summer along with orange persson after we won the Big Cup, they also signed the 2 smiths and another sorenson fae Morton the summer before, they went on a mad spending spree trying tae stop us.

*After the Buzz Bomb scored in the last minute a neanderthal ran fae the terracing, picked up a corner flag and ran after him, only the alertness of big davie provan, a close friend of wee ten thirty, saved Lemon as he body checked the thug ontae the dirt track. We all stood in the Jungle witnessing it while the polis stood watching on as well.

Have been looking at an interesting wee site, http://www.rsssf.com.scotland, which lists pretty much all of Scotland’s internationals from the year dot.com. Lists dates, venues, crowds, goalscorers etc for Scotland’s games. Was surprised to see that the majority of our games have been friendlies, some of which drew big crowds. Funny thing is I can only remember three of them, against Brazil 1966 (1-1), against England on a snowy February in 1973, (part of the SFA’s centenary) which we lost 5-0, on tv as well and against Argentina in 1979 when a young Maradona showed what he could do. Also a good site for someone to analyse the team choices over the years. Certainly Rangers players were favoured in the 1930’s, 50’s and 1960s, but also evidence that Scotland could go from over representing RFC to a game with absolutely none. Maybe RFC picked the games they would play in. Plenty Celtic players capped of course, including every one of the Lisbon Lions, but in nowhere near the same numbers. Why favour Davie Wilson, who was a good player, to Bobby Lennox, who was a far better one?

That said, the Scotland games which still stick in the mind over time, against England 1967, (3-2 win) West Germany at home in 1969, (1-1) and against Czechoslovakia at home in 1973 (2-1), had respectfully 4, 4 and five Celtic players in the starting line-up. We have never ever improved on those games.

What value can be placed on a friendly these days? Depreciating as we speak.

Good luck to the Celts involved, hope to see you all back in the Hoops next Saturday!

While visting New York you should try and get to McSorleys on East 7th Street just off Third Avenue

Great old bar,one of the oldest in New York…a unique type of place

    https://mcsorleysoldalehouse.nyc/

After a couple of ales there you should stroll around the corner to St Marks on the Bowery

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Mark%27s_Church_in-the-Bowery

There you will find the grave of Thomas Addis Emmet bother of Irish Patriot Robert Emmet

As you probably know Roberts Emmets buirial place remains unknown so the nearest I could get to paying my respects was to visit the grave of his older brother Thomas Addis Emmet who was also involved with the United Irishmen but lived to tell the tell.Ended up as Attorne General in New York

Oh and take it easy on the salads….

  9. I have often said on here that although the pork and cheese produce some outstanding players they are also very cynical and huge cheats I have no time for them and that does not just include Seville. However while I won’t support either side today I just wish the Celtic and Celtic minded players well and hope we nasty gets donald ducked.

  10. Funny how it’s a meaningless friendly and Mctaxcheat plays our players.

Probably hoping 1 or 2 will pick up injurys

No time whatsoever for that whole SFA/SPFL cabal.

Get our players home safe and sound, hopefully never to wear that shirt again

Totally understand your sentiments but what about our players who want to play for Scotland ?

    Mon the Scottish Celts :-)

  12. GFTB I can understand players wanting to represent thier country, I just feel that as a club we have been treated terribly, and we should withdraw players for the foreseeable future. I know it will never happen, as it’s down to players etc.

I do hope our boys perform well as they obviously seem to want to play for Scotland.

To me Griffiths has done the right thing.

My preference is every game the Tax cheat manages he gets gubbed.

I mean why should our Association give a tax cheat a job, I, like many on here work extremely hard and have to pay the right amount of tax….

Is Andy Robertson ever goal side of his man ?

Israel’s first goal now Portugal’s goal poor defending from the capitano

Great bombing down the line with Liverpool but I think KT is far more switched on defensively

  14. Can remember from late fifties and into sixties seeing signs outside football grounds to beware of pickpockets.

As I posted, totally understand what you are saying and don’t disagree, am going the other way, never bothered with Scotland too much growing up, but getting more patriotic the older I ger (born 1970) don’t let the SFA, bigots or tax evaders win :-)

TT Was sure it was forest – big john cushley centre half that day

*nae wilson was behind the goal when he scored, i actually thought it was setterington who also had blonde hair. Big Cush did play centre half.

  18. GERRYFAETHEBRIG

Robertson is excellent offensively but poor defensively.

Has no-one ever taught him to stay goal side of his opponent?

The mssm will gloss it over as they are determined to devalue KT.

    Glad KT is resting today.

Far better than being a convenient scapegoat.

How does McLeish expect to score today with McBurnie and Naysmith upfront?

Neither could score in a brothel after winning the lottery.

  19. GFTB -Jobo I admire your positive outlook to Scotland.

Unfortunately for me that ship has sailed.

Celtic, Celtic that’s the team for me, from now on bhoys

    Hail Hail

    D. :)

  20. DAVID17 on 14TH OCTOBER 2018 5:46 PM

But it was Jack Hendry’s fault!!!

Is Andy Robertson immune from criticism? He’s not that great a defender, Israel’s first goal and the Portugal goal, man running from behind him. Same in the 2-2 game v England, let Harry Kane run in behind him. Great going forward, great delivery from wide but suspect defensively. But no one in the press or media will mention that.

Celtic is a whole different ball game, in fact Celtic isn’t an actual sport more a way of life :-)

Agree, I have a lot of respect for Robertson dropping down to Queens Park then working hard and getting to a CL final at still a very young man, but he isn’t a great defender :-)

  23. GARY67

I honestly believe they are trying to devalue KT so if Celtic sells the price will be way under his true value.

The mssm have a history of of overvaluing hun players and trying to devalue Celtic players.

It worked for Boumsong and they constantly talked down VVD’s value forcing us to accept a lesser price than he was worth.

They care not a jot about Robertson it’s just part of their continual attempts to derail Celtic;s success.
