SFA, The Offshore Game, flogging assets

616

The SFA surprised many by refusing Mike Ashley permission to buy up to 29.9% of a second club.  As I said earlier in the week, don’t get too hung up on this one.  Ashley could play The Offshore Game, like the anonymised Blue Pitch or Margarita, or he could just do what he’s already done, ignore the SFA and underwrite the share issue anyway.  What would the SFA do?

Well, they could impose the ultimate sanction, but that’s unlikely.  They could impose a heavy point penalty, enough to ensure the club are not promoted this season, and refuse to register signings of players older than 21-years.

It’s perhaps more likely that Ashley will loan the money required in return for whatever assets are left.  Oldco went out of business a few months after they were sold to a liquidation expert.  The path newco will follow down the lavvy will be different.  Like any other squeezed business, they will redeem assets, sell the training fields, and the stadium, before putting themselves into the hands of a liquidator.

As for long-term financial viability, does anyone think this looks likely?

yes, Mrs Wilson carried her name well, didn’t buckle under pressure from the 3rd estate in 1982 but can imagine she would be under severe pressure if it was now considering the hassle her fellow fifer Turnbull Hutton has had to face !

I like to see our former player’s do well playing or in managerial roles doon the road as it reflects well on our club.. Delighted with Neil & Mick McCarthy improving their respective clubs. Wolves must regret getting rid of big Mick.

In today’s championship & premiership games we could have had a team of our ex players, Fraser, Paul Caddis, Darren O’Dea, Kelvin Wilson ( who was sent off today) , Shaun, Victor, Joe Ledley, Gary Hooper, Daryl Murphy & Marc Antoine Fortune add in Artur, Sammi, Gary Caldwell & Aiden.

The Palace v Southampton game had three of our players from when we beat Barca

It was either Tommy Burns or Wim Jansen that appointed him. Not sure who but think it might have been Tommy.

We played against St Mirren in a midweek game at Celtic Park in the early nineties.

McDowall looked like, played and behaved like a sticky bun. He used his elbows more than his feet and kicked our players more than the ball. The game ended 1 1 I think with his performance being lauded by the laptop loyal the following day.

One of those ‘honest pros’ the laptop loyal love eg Lasley, Jamie Hamill, Frazer Wright etc.

An important erratum. My most genuine contrafibularities to you…

  15. As I stated on here before . Ashley will do as he likes , and as for the SFA . They are incapable of honesty and integrity when thems are in the equation . I won’t be surprised if Ashley and Hampden haven’t done a bit of a deal , and the rejection is only a ruse . Had they followed their own rules , the rules of scottish football , then they’re wouldn’t be a Rangers for Ashley to get involved with in the first place . I for one am sorry he is in cahoots with them , as this guy has cash aplenty . For him to make cash , he needs the Rangers fans . To get them back ,they need a decent team , his cash will make sure that happens . IMHO

  16. Remember the Huns saying when they where 15pts in front in Lenny’s 1st full season-

‘Thats what happens when your manager is a youth team coach’

How they laughed haha now they have one our old one, there not laughing now hehe

    From theCelticwiki.com:

…When Eric Black was appointed Head of Youth Development at Celtic in early September 1997 he brought McDowall to Celtic to work principally with the Reserve team and help to develop a comprehensive Youth team policy from the first team downwards…

So it was not Tommy or Wim, though one of them would have rubber stamped it before Black moved to pop ointment.
