Six days out and a mountain to climb

1664

Over the last few days we have worked with Mary’s Meals to identify a second school without basic facilities in one of the most deprived areas of the world.  We have confirmed St Josephs’ Primary School in Kasungu, Malawi (the 17th poorest country in the world), which has a roll of 746 pupils and no facilities to provide food, meaning many children have to work to feed themselves instead of being educated.

The necessary permissions have been confirmed, and Mary’s Meals can send resources there as soon as money is available.  If we are successful, St Joseph’s will get a brick-built kitchen which will double as a classroom with stoves, pots, utensils, spoons and mugs.  As a result, kids will attend school to get what on many occasions will be their only meal of the day.  They will also get an education and better chances in later life.

The cost of the kitchen is £7000.  We are only six days out from CQteN so we shouldn’t expect miracles but we’ll be here until the job is done.

Construction is underway at our first school at the Kholoni Primary School in Mchinji, Malawi, which has a school roll of 1221 children.

We have a donations page for CQN Mary’s Meals’ projects, if you would like to help out, you can do so here.

Seville, The Celtic Movement, launches this month.

“There were 10 in our party and collecting the tickets took priority. Once we had them we could afford time to eat, but what? Several restaurants were sold out but we eventually found a café with frozen chips and a meat-based slab of something or other. No choices. No beer, wine or cola either, it was diluting orange juice or water. An entire city was pretty much emptied of food and drink.”

  7. Sleekit on the official Sevco site insists he’s not embarrassed:

“As I keep saying I think people are maybe getting carried away with where our club is at this moment in time and the team.

“I think it’s highly disrespectful of people to say that [that the result is embarrassing] and I’m certainly not going to say it.”

McCoist was pleased that with the way his players responded to being a being a goal down at half time.

He said: “It was very important the players didn’t go into a shell and start panicking in fear of not getting a goal.

“We had to reassure the boys they had to be brave and keep taking the ball in difficult areas and trying to get us free-kicks and fouls higher up the park.

“I thought they did that and nobody went into any shell. They kept going and I think we at least deserve another crack at Albion Rovers.”

The unconcious comedian that is Fat Sally must be fair looking forwards to his easter eggs with puns like ‘ go into a shell’ and ‘another crack’.

Guess the yoke will be on him!

  9. Back in the 1950s-60s it would have be okay to put ball and keeper in the back of the net, it was called a ( shoulder ) challenge,That challenge on the Albion keeper would have been allowed at least 50% of the time, the keeper would never stand on the line with the ball,he would go to ground or punch or kick it out, standing on the line with the ball was a no, no back then, he would be in the back of the net with the ball by one or two players of the opposing side.

The rules have changed now, you can’t put in a challenge on a keeper, or it’s a foul, that referee should be downgraded to school leagues football.

  10. Watched the second half of the Sevco game yesterday. It was the the first time I have set eyes on them since they were spawned in 2012. I had no idea they were that bad. Was truly stunned at the sheer ineptness.

That shower will struggle in the Championship big time. I’ve seen quite a few games in that league this year and that team will toil, even with the sort of ridiculous honest mistakes we saw yesterday.

Only upside of the latest outbreak of cheating is that the office hun is in silent mode. I think he might actually be embarassed!!

  11. He said: “It was very important the players didn’t go into a shell and start panicking in fear of not getting a goal.

Was in my cot but i saw it this morning.

Anyone who thinks that was legit shouldn’t be any part of football, whether they are a ref, manager, player, pundit or fan.

Can you(or anyone else) post the link to your own site again please?

  18. Great picture in the papers this morning of the Albion keeper with the ball in both hands and The Rangers player about to punch it out. That’s a foul on two counts by any normal reading of the laws of the game.

  19. Thunder Road

Aye, it was shocking right enough.

Listening to the msm trying to justify it is cringworthy, but what is now par for the course.

    Their shame knows no bounds.

Just imagine any other team having to cheat to get a replay against Albion Rovers and then attempt to justify if FFS.

  20. These honest mistakes are sickening.

    Its just so blatant.

I refuse to have anything to do with scoddish fitba, its totally bent as bananas.

They have totally destroyed the notion of fair play with their jiggery pokery handshake shenanigans, when will something be done about it?

What is the point of watching a rigged game, where is the fun in that.

We are being totally shafted, nothing has changed, jelly and ice cream my a***

When are we going to refuse to sanction this cheating?, will it be in my lifetime ffs?

I really wish we could all be united as supporters to strongly challenge this cheating, but sadly I don’t see it happening.

Because as long as we roll over and allow it, it will keep happening, and im sick of it.

There are enough wise heads on this blog, surely there is something that can be done.

  22. How must the Albion players be feeling this morning, not merely robbed, but deliberately shafted, it stinks to high heaven.

Im totally outraged, these cheating huns are beyond belief, they are the lowest of the low, despicable hun agenda running the show.

Its enough to make you sick, I despair.

I really wish we could make a stand against it.

You only need to conduct a brief analysis of their games to be highly suspicious, its shocking in the extreme, institutionalised corruption and honest mistakes.

The desperation is obscene, they will resort to anything.

Really destroys my love of football, im heart sick of it.

I think you need to calm down a wee bit, mate.

Seriously. Raging about it ain’t going to change the decision.

  24. All this honest mistakes right is a lot milder than it used to be, with the technology now a days with slow mo, and replays, the internet, it has made some think twice about decisions, but most stick to the script, as I keep saying, there is no way anything can be done about it, until the refs. Are properly held responsible for the mistakes, or cheating, or not knowing the rules, it’s easy sorted, drop them down to the lower divisions, ohhhhhh noooooooo, I remember last year one ref. had a feckin howler, what did the SFA do, gave him a cup final, they get rewarded here, not punished.

  25. Shieldmuir Celtic on

Like the Metropolitan Police, Scottish football is ‘institutionally corrupt’. There is plenty of evidence of this. e.g. H.M,R.C. judgement;L.N.S. judgement; 5-Way Agreement; numerous refereeing decisions (some recent examples – East Fife v R —-;Albion Rovers v R—-s; Celtic vAberdeen;) and so on When will it ever end?

Your last two posts—-my sentiments exactly. I do not find anything funny on what is happening and what has happened over the last few years. Def my last year as ST holder unless our Board come out fighting our corner.
