Six days out and a mountain to climb

1664

Over the last few days we have worked with Mary’s Meals to identify a second school without basic facilities in one of the most deprived areas of the world.  We have confirmed St Josephs’ Primary School in Kasungu, Malawi (the 17th poorest country in the world), which has a roll of 746 pupils and no facilities to provide food, meaning many children have to work to feed themselves instead of being educated.

The necessary permissions have been confirmed, and Mary’s Meals can send resources there as soon as money is available.  If we are successful, St Joseph’s will get a brick-built kitchen which will double as a classroom with stoves, pots, utensils, spoons and mugs.  As a result, kids will attend school to get what on many occasions will be their only meal of the day.  They will also get an education and better chances in later life.

The cost of the kitchen is £7000.  We are only six days out from CQteN so we shouldn’t expect miracles but we’ll be here until the job is done.

Construction is underway at our first school at the Kholoni Primary School in Mchinji, Malawi, which has a school roll of 1221 children.

We have a donations page for CQN Mary’s Meals’ projects, if you would like to help out, you can do so here.

Seville, The Celtic Movement, launches this month.

“There were 10 in our party and collecting the tickets took priority. Once we had them we could afford time to eat, but what? Several restaurants were sold out but we eventually found a café with frozen chips and a meat-based slab of something or other. No choices. No beer, wine or cola either, it was diluting orange juice or water. An entire city was pretty much emptied of food and drink.”

And what if their view of doing their best for CFC is to ensure a strong sevco in the SPFL as soon as possible to provide competition, generate interest and income etc etc?

  3. Someone posted yesterday prior to the square ball being centred at Graigy Whytes gaff that the bookies were offering odds of 5/1 for an AR’s player to be sent off while odds of 22/1 could be secured on a zombie player suffering a similar fate , similarily, the odds for respective penalties …. as it turns out none of these were required courtesy of the new and very clever ” honest mistake ” coming into play …….. the point being, the bookies who apparently are very rarely wrong have identified what the ” establishment ” are trying so deperately to conceal …… namely ……. a different set of rules apply ( or dont ) with games involving the clumpany …….. simples …!!!

  5. The institutionalised nature of prejudice in Scotland is such that those perpetrating it are, in the main, not aware that they are doing so.That is what Celtic are up against and is also why any protest would be futile. Unfortunately, the inevitability of gradualism is all we can rely on with, perhaps, the occasionally successful inroad.

Geordie Munro I agree we should have enough cover to keep the bestes and the greatestes goal scorer in the whole wide world quiet, I am of course talking about the legendary Boydychencko as the SMSM would have us believe.

However what I am more concerned about is that his agent is coming out with him moving to 1 of the English bigger teams. Some English press have him going to man utd or city some to arsenal and he has added to the speculation by having dinner with David Luiz of Chelsea and was allegedly at there game over the weekend. Now I know it is all speculation and we would get in excess of £10 million, but if he goes and big FF goes that is a big hole in our team that will be trying to qualify for CL.

I think that is something to worry about. I actually believe that could be worse than losing big Vic and hoops IMO.

Eddie, no need to feel embarrassed at all — I was pretty certain it was a misunderstanding — and certainly no upset at my end or any need for an apology from yourself.

I agree it was a shocking decision and I feel really sorry for Albion Rovers. But it is not worth getting angry about.

I watch a lot of Scottish football and this season I have lost count of the p1ss-poor decisions in games.

And I’m not talking about games involving Celtic either, you see baffling decisions every week on the highlights.

  10. Just in to say…..

We’re coming up to the time of year when the Celtic fans have all the clout but, don’t realize it!

Why don’t you all grow a pair and organize to the effect that, a message along the lines of…

“To the ‘bored’ of Celtic FC – There will be no SB money forth coming until you, get into the ring and ‘level’ the playing field of Scottish Football by ; Removing CO / Removing Dallas’s influence from FIFA-UEFA / Get the OB-bill done away with – failure to tick the above boxes will result in in-house armageddon, brought on by ‘your’ own collusion.”

    Resolutions / olive-branches won’t work!

Anarchy is the ‘only’ way ahead.

The thing is I thought Beaton was actually refereeing reasonably well until the goal. He booked two Albion players but he also booked Black and allowed a number of robust challenges to go from Albion players.

By 75 minutes the crowd had boiled to the point of explosion and if you are being fair to the referee if he had not given that goal who knows what might have happened.

The civil unrest that is often talked about I felt might have appeared.

The normal default is that the ref is just one of them and worried about his position at the social club but there are guys who react to crowds in all of football.

He might have given a wild penalty or sent off a few Albion players. He made one massive mistake and it would appear it is of the honest variety.

  13. BTW

I hav’nt seen the goal so can’t comment if it was right or wrong , my comments are the overall cheating from the top down . Rangers caused this , CO and the SFA could have ended it.

  14. Fortunes had his goal against them chopped off for less.

At least he made contact with the ball before mcgregor bumped into him.

“a contentious goal scored involving 2 lower league teams nothing to so with celtic in a competition they arent in and some people going to give up their season tickets if our board dont do something about it?”

My sentiments exactly. I understand Albion Rovers fans being angry, but there are rank rotten decision every week in Scotland and that’s just in the Premiership games.

Unfortunately because of my job I’ve had to watch Sevco in the last two Scottish Cup matches.

They are so laboured and predictable with big blooters into the penalty area. Watching Sevco is like watching Sumo football.

They will need more than a an honest mistake or two when they play any Scottish Premiership teams. Dundee United will embarrass them.

What better way of getting a penalty and a player sent off , a dodgy decision going for them
