Six days out and a mountain to climb

1664

Over the last few days we have worked with Mary’s Meals to identify a second school without basic facilities in one of the most deprived areas of the world.  We have confirmed St Josephs’ Primary School in Kasungu, Malawi (the 17th poorest country in the world), which has a roll of 746 pupils and no facilities to provide food, meaning many children have to work to feed themselves instead of being educated.

The necessary permissions have been confirmed, and Mary’s Meals can send resources there as soon as money is available.  If we are successful, St Joseph’s will get a brick-built kitchen which will double as a classroom with stoves, pots, utensils, spoons and mugs.  As a result, kids will attend school to get what on many occasions will be their only meal of the day.  They will also get an education and better chances in later life.

The cost of the kitchen is £7000.  We are only six days out from CQteN so we shouldn’t expect miracles but we’ll be here until the job is done.

Construction is underway at our first school at the Kholoni Primary School in Mchinji, Malawi, which has a school roll of 1221 children.

We have a donations page for CQN Mary’s Meals’ projects, if you would like to help out, you can do so here.

Seville, The Celtic Movement, launches this month.

“There were 10 in our party and collecting the tickets took priority. Once we had them we could afford time to eat, but what? Several restaurants were sold out but we eventually found a café with frozen chips and a meat-based slab of something or other. No choices. No beer, wine or cola either, it was diluting orange juice or water. An entire city was pretty much emptied of food and drink.”

Wonder what the referee’s supervisor had to say in his report?

    ——

Something like, “Thankfully Brother Beaton saved the day”

BBC website description of the goal:

“When Mohsni went up with the goalkeeper for Templeton’s deep cross the ball appeared to evade both as it found its way into the net.”

Its because we don’t collectively challenge the cheating, that it prevails.

They have ruined football in this country, and continue to do so with impunity.

Spring is in the air over here at last – currently 21 degrees.

Sevcomedians lining up replacements for sleekit. They forgot to mention Guus Hiddink and auld Swallex amongst others. Michael Mols as a coach? Mrs Mols as a bouncer at the top of the marble staircase perhaps? Enough to strike fear into anyone.

I don’t think you will be the only supporter to conclude, that its went too far now.

I reckon supporters don’t want to watch cheating, and who could blame them.

Should we just remain blind to it?

No, I don’t think so, enough is enough.

I’ve just read back and I have to say I feel a bit embarrassed about my spat with you last night. What should have been a general rant about not particulary liking the Pavilion theartre and it’s pricing policy ended up in me having a go at you. I apologise unreservedly and I’m sorry if I caused you any upset.

“evade both”? So how come they don’t give the goal to the player that crossed the ball??

    ——

Great point. The same report credits Mohsni with the goal. When you start to lie about things as the SMSM does, you need to be very careful but they’re just not very bright.

I heard a whisper that Albion Rovers had gone a goal up in Govan so decided to have a peep in at the crumbling stadium and the world record attendance. Astonishing to view the new club whose short existence never bottoms out. If like me you had never seen them in action it’s a reassuring sight on every level especially player they are overpaying. The first thing that struck me was the pitch, which when Rangers were alive was maintained, then the horizon of what was for advertising, and yes, star of the show was a concrete breeze block empty dive of a bar in far out Dennistoun.

Their squad is B division to the nth degree led by the elbows of Elbows, and another Geronimo type guy who assaulted everyone including spectator intelligence then the Rovers goalkeeper for the ‘equaliser ‘ John Beaton the referee was relieved he’d gotten his dodgy escape route which was marginally better than looking for the the penalty, New Club couldn’t conjure because they weren’t able to get the ball into the box along the ground.

The penalty didn’t come despite having a fat striker called Faure who’ll maybe be saved for the next games mistake. Great credit to the Albion Rovers and their manager who have history is on their side for the semi, having unlike their opponents previously been there.

  10. Lets put it this way.

So, sevco are crap etc…but who would be surprised to see them winning the Scottish Cup?, I certainly wouldn’t.

I think its obvious….cup final at CP, what a opportunity for honest mistakes eh, while everyone watches, and says nothing.

Believe me, you aint seen nothing yet.

The heights of absurdity will be scaled with ease.

Anybody in their right mind can see whats going on, but it keeps on rolling along, year in, year out…no matter what they are called.

    Jelly and ice cream….LOL

Interesting game coming up for Celtic on Friday night, and a bit disappointed that Nir Biton after establishing himself in the first team, will be missing through injury. This lack of an out and out midfielder will mean another reshuffle of the side for Neil Lennon, who will of course have a huge range of options.

I’d like to think we’ll avoid the too many wingers debate assuming Mulgrew reverts to CB for the suspended Van Dyjk. By bringing in Beram Kayal as a straight swop for Biton, we’ll avoid a change in formation, and carry on the successful results.

a contentious goal scored involving 2 lower league teams nothing to so with celtic in a competition they arent in and some people going to give up their season tickets if our board dont do something about it?

At least be honest if giving up tickets.

you may remmber some years ago celtic made a number of complaints about honet mistakes and the refs went on strike. also Dougie gate celtic acted their. We can only act on games involving us.

Should we come out about the 2nd sending off in united ict game yesterday as that was clearly wrong too?

I get dogs on here , if there is a team on the park called Rangers getting help from the SFA and in turn our Govt (sic)

They will always be Rangers to me .

No msm or pundits points of Rangers influence me or a piece of paper stating sequestration complete , untill the SFA and the Govt accept and tell the viewing public they are a different club everthing stays the same .

Agree 100% my friend. Their disgrace shows no bounds and all will be done to ensure they win the cup. It really gets my goat, I mean Really, because it’s so sad and so rotten it is farcical, pathetic.

When they win the replay, it will be funny to see how thems and their “ludge” mates dispose of wee Jackie’s Dundee United. Sendings off, penalties, watch this space.

  19. Must say that I agree entirely with the posts of The Green Man this morning regarding the degree of ” honest mistakes ” going in favour of the walking dead but what is more disturbing is the extent of excuses being made on their behalf by all and sundry in what amounts to an insult to the inteligence of any fair minded individual witnessing such blatent skulduggery ……. it’s reminicent of Craig Leveins assertion that teams were simply not allowed to benifit from just decisions against their predessesors at the same venue …… the more things change the more they stay the same as far as the walking dead are concerned it would seem .

What can be done about it remains the burning question , maybe some manager should lead his team off the field of play in protest if only to highlight the absurdity and sheer scale of outright cheating being inflicted on honest teams lining up against the fledgling tribute act in order to snuff out the chance of a further 100 years of injustice .

    Indeed he did:

  21. The game is corrupt to the core, everyone seems to be in agreement on that score.

How to deal with it is where there is major disagreement.

A couple of years ago, fans of a couple of clubs threatened to not buy season tickets, it got the desired result at the time.

Take Celtic, we are scottish football today, of that there is no doubt, now, if our club were to initiate something along the lines of a total reform of the refereeing system in scotland, where all referees and their supervisors reports were to be made public, and after every round of games, an independent panel, no laughing at the back, were to ask the referees to justify their decisions, and where a ref is deemed to have made a mistake, they are demoted, and lose a portion of their match fee, three mistakes in a game, they forfeit all their match fee, it would obviously need tweeking, but something along those lines.

Now the media would find it hard to justify that this would be bad for the game, and if the club could get the backing of a few other clubs, you never know.

Saying nothing is what is killing the game, the more the other clubs say nada, the more they will cheat.

    Simples really.

    Just a thought.

The only way is to force the clubs to act, and this entails the threat of with holding cash.

Sadly that is the only answer.

We moan about it, yet do nothing to try and stop it, the clubs will act, just like they did to stop the hun getting into the top or 2nd league, that was a threat of with holding money, not the actual act.

I believe that’s all it would take again.

It just sickens me, that these halfwits get away with the cheating unchallenged.

I believe, it will take something extraordinary to overturn a century of black corruption.

The answer, is somewhere in the vaults.

It would take a proper piece of journalistic investigation, which as you are aware, is sadly lacking in this country.
