Social cost of Scots exclusion

1522

You want to know the real social cost of Scottish football’s exclusion from the league structure England and Wales share?  It’s the lack of pitches, nets, strips, balls and coaching certifications that the £1bn bounty, promised by the Barclay’s Premier League last night to the grassroots game.

£1bn to the grassroots is a huge sum.  It dwarfs what taxpayers can afford and will provide a series of benefits our kids and amateur players are denied.

If we’re part of the UK, we should be part of the UK’s commercial opportunities.  Every youth team in the land are excluded because of the actions of a cartel.

What are the SFA doing about it?  Nothing.  Their plans don’t seem to require world-class youth facilities.

Timbhoy 2, one of the reasons the South Stand may not have been improved is because of the lack of light the south part of the pitch would get if the roof was raised.

In years gone by, about ten yards in from the touchline always cut up badly in the winter and at times could be quite bare.

At the front of the roof of the south stand there is about fifty feet of perspex roofing to allow more light to get at that side of our pitch.

When we get any sunshine, it shines longer to the south of our stadium. A lot of modern stadiums in Europe seem to have perspex at the back of each stand to allow more light in to help the grass on the pitch as well as having artificial lighting units that are on ptches when no games are on.

However, the above could be a lot of mince.

I think we have the light decks for the pitch I’m sure I have seen them in action on the pitch and stored by the stadium when there is a game on.

I know exactly what you mean but the CQN Brigada are the most welcoming, in one night you will meet people all sorts from Oldtim to Jamesgang, Lennybhoy to ACGR, Fourgreenfields to CRC, Hamiltontim to Minx…….every one a star

Without blowing smoke up their nether regions every single CQNer I met that night far exceeded my expectations……. I might sound like a CQN happy clapper but quite simply it’s the truth BGFC take the plunge at the earliest opportunity you will not regret it

Craigellachie 10, I’ve seen the lighting rigs on the pitch when I was at a lunch at the Number 7 restaurant a few years ago.

Most if not all English premiership teams use them.

As I said my theory about the South Stand roof may be a lot of mince. Lol

  10. The word ‘Change’.

It is a very studied thing. Nothing is permanent. This irresistible force is always moving forward. It doesnt stop.

In it’s wake are many, many organisations that can’t change quickly or effectively enough, and inevitably, the wave of time passes over them, they can’t cope and they die.

This is what we are witnessing.
