Social cost of Scots exclusion

1522

You want to know the real social cost of Scottish football’s exclusion from the league structure England and Wales share?  It’s the lack of pitches, nets, strips, balls and coaching certifications that the £1bn bounty, promised by the Barclay’s Premier League last night to the grassroots game.

£1bn to the grassroots is a huge sum.  It dwarfs what taxpayers can afford and will provide a series of benefits our kids and amateur players are denied.

If we’re part of the UK, we should be part of the UK’s commercial opportunities.  Every youth team in the land are excluded because of the actions of a cartel.

What are the SFA doing about it?  Nothing.  Their plans don’t seem to require world-class youth facilities.

  3. Thanks Everyone for the emails about Dublin 2016.

Many people have said that this is a CQN event. It isn’t and it had been on my mind for a few days that Dublin 2016 might be reflected poorly on CQN by MSM.

Dublin 2016, has nothing to do with CQN.I don’t know Paul nor any of the other contributors.

Many thanks to Paul and others for the insightful blog.

Roy, the scene with Spider and Steve Earle is on youtube. A poster had done a link for it just after the episode was shown. I’m a technical dunderheid and I can’t do the link.

Some of the cast in Treme were in the Wire and some other HBO programmes.

Treme had the best music of any tv series I have saw. It was set in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Sadly, it nevr had high enough viewing figures and was dropped. Some viewers found it slow going but the music more than made up for it.

Ahh!the days before everything was on TV. If I remember correctly the game wasn’t shown on our TV because Ajax had sponsorship on their shirt and it wasn’t allowed here.

I was thinking about you today as we spent some of today with our friend Victoria Stevens who is the opera singer. I mentioned Carine to her and she went into her phone and showed me a picture of the two of them together in Lubec. (Hope that is the right spelling)

Amazing that they know each other.

Victoria was really complimentary about Carine’s voice.

Pity I did not know a bit earlier but I cannot make Edinburgh tomorrow.

I hope that the performance goes well for her.

    Best regards

The Glasgowceltic way, A group of us were in Amstedam for that game in 1982, went over on the Uni bus, Sydney Tim had to endure me sitting beside him there and back. My first euro away game to see our team.

I finally got to see the Dutch tv highlights of the game about four weeks later, The Carville and Arcari video shops each had a copy of the highlights and you had to pre-order it and were only allowed to have it one night as it was their most rented video in October 1982.

It was great to watch along with the commentators pronunciation of our players names which started with Mc and after Murdo had fouled Cruyff near the end of the game, telling the Ajax physio to get himself to F.

Most Irish whiskey I,ve drunk has been mediocre at best. To say Jamiesons stacks up beside e.g. an Ardbeg is like saying cat piss is an enjoyable tipple.
