Some sympathy for Stewart Robertson

728

I know lockdown is causing much anxiety, but can you imagine being in Newco chief exec Stewart Robertson’s shoes these days?  He must have known the gig was up when he decided not to release his ‘evidence’ before clubs were able to send proxy vote to block his EGM resolution.

I’m sure he hoped the SPFL would announce they have enough votes in the bag, allowing him to flounce off, instead of substantiating his claim, but those he wanted sacked at the League will want to see this play out as much as the rest of us.

He even has Graeme Spiers calling him out as the weakest man he’s met in football.  For a man in his position, “weak” is the most damning word, it will resonate with those whose support he relies on.  And let’s not forget, he has tens of millions to find to continue trading though next season, by comparison, this SPFL mess is like a July Walk on the Queen’s highway.

From what I hear, Stewart is a decent bloke, one made for less complex times.  His strings are almost certainly being pulled by some sinister Geppetto character.  If he fails to produce his ‘evidence’, this afternoon’s Premiership club meeting will be an excruciating, if not humiliating, affair.  It will all be over soon, Stewart; you hang in there.

I’m sure we would all like to congratulate PSG on winning the ninth title in their history and seventh in eight years yesterday, apart from that Neymar character, of course.  The story for Scottish football in how the French league finished is the third place finish of Rennes – who could only manage a fourth place finish in the Europa League group Celtic topped.

While we are not in PSG’s class, we more than held our own against a French and Italian sides in the Europa League this season.  Like Celtic, Rennes will enter the Champions League qualification round next season.

So sorry for your loss and for her immediate and extended family. I’ve known the family all my life. Our family homes are opposite each other. Our siblings went to school with each other. My sister text me last night with the news. It’s utterly devastating.

It was Helen and her younger brother that put me onto this site it was, the day wee McDonald scored two against us to give the league away. I’m not calling it black Sunday because that’s only football. Your correct in what you say. The world is a darker place for her being absent. I know you, her sons, mum dad, brothers and her numerous cousins and friends will keep her light shinning.

Never so apt You’ll never walk alone.

Sadly earlier this evening my darling wife Helen (Minx 1888 from CQN) lost her battle with cancer. I was lying beside her the way she wanted. Our hearts are broken and simple words right now would never truly convey what a remarkable woman she was. I was blessed to have her as a soul mate and forever thankful to her for becoming my wife.

As a family we are utterly devastated but for many people the passing of this genuinely decent, warm and caring human being the world will be a little darker tonight.

Good night God Bless Helen xxxx

You will both be in my prayers.

  6. Chris, so sorry that Helen and your time has been cut so bitterly short. You were a match made in heaven. A very special couple who met in very special circumstances.

Like the rest of CQN I am devastated for your family and you. Helen will be missed by each and everyone of us who had the privilege of chatting to Helen on these pages, meeting her, and becoming friends. She was a vet special lady with the kindest heart and soul and a smile that lit every room.

She was instrumental and a leading light in both the Bringing Martin Home & Wee Oscar for life campaigns. Both Oscar and Martin will be there waiting to welcome her at St Peters gates.

I cannot imagine the loss you are feeling right now buddy. I am sure though that in time, like my memories of my mum do, your memories of Helen and your time together will make you smile and bring you joy in time.

Stay strong buddy. You know we are here for you.

My prayers are with your family and you.

Requiescat in pace Helen (Minxy). You will be sorely missed.

Helen as the Minx was well thought of and your growing relationship was warmly welcomed on these pages. If I may indulge I came across a post from Mick (BMCUW) from back in 2012.

    Zbyszek,

Thanks for the info;I can’t believe she’s 21,and never let on when she joined us for a bevvy-session less than three weeks ago. All the excitement of her forthcoming birthday must have made her forgetful.

Minx88 added some much-needed glamour to the occasion, and a healthy addition to the general levity. Great company on a great night!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks again,Minx.

What is the best compliment you can ever pay someone?

In my opinion, it is to honestly look forward to sharing their company and then frequently recalling your time spent in such company.

There are others on here who are, and have been, far closer to Helen and Chris than me over the years but I had the privilege (and yes it was a privilege) to spend time in the company of Helen Dunese – Stewart on a number of occasions.

And I looked forward to sharing her company and chatting with her on any occasion when I knew I was going to see her.

Her huge smile and laugh will live forever in the memory and of course she could barely hide a heart that was as big as a mountain.

Quite separately Helen and Chris have been a wee bit of a quiet inspiration for some of us on here and that will forever be the case.

We are all poorer for her passing but will be forever richer for having known her.

  22. Sadly a dear friend of mine lost her battle to cancer. Helen Dunese Stewart, a wonderful woman who did so so much for others. She was unselfish and did so much for others. My heart goes out to her Husband Chris, another who does so much for others. They were so well matched. A match made in heaven, where I am certain Chris and her family will meet again. May God Bless her Soul. Until we meet again Helen…Keep the Faith! Hail Hail! 🍀

Woke to hear your sad news. I have never met Helen but it is very clear from the comments of those who have, and from Minx’s own utterings on here that you have lost a very special person. May she rest in peace and my condolences to you and your family

  24. That smile, that laugh. They filled the room with kindness and warmth, even when it was outside at CQN Corner.

Every time I met Helen, I went away feeling better about life.

A Celtic love story, which began when good people came together to help others.

We now need to do that for you Chris.

God bless you. God bless Helen.
