Some sympathy for Stewart Robertson

728

I know lockdown is causing much anxiety, but can you imagine being in Newco chief exec Stewart Robertson’s shoes these days?  He must have known the gig was up when he decided not to release his ‘evidence’ before clubs were able to send proxy vote to block his EGM resolution.

I’m sure he hoped the SPFL would announce they have enough votes in the bag, allowing him to flounce off, instead of substantiating his claim, but those he wanted sacked at the League will want to see this play out as much as the rest of us.

He even has Graeme Spiers calling him out as the weakest man he’s met in football.  For a man in his position, “weak” is the most damning word, it will resonate with those whose support he relies on.  And let’s not forget, he has tens of millions to find to continue trading though next season, by comparison, this SPFL mess is like a July Walk on the Queen’s highway.

From what I hear, Stewart is a decent bloke, one made for less complex times.  His strings are almost certainly being pulled by some sinister Geppetto character.  If he fails to produce his ‘evidence’, this afternoon’s Premiership club meeting will be an excruciating, if not humiliating, affair.  It will all be over soon, Stewart; you hang in there.

I’m sure we would all like to congratulate PSG on winning the ninth title in their history and seventh in eight years yesterday, apart from that Neymar character, of course.  The story for Scottish football in how the French league finished is the third place finish of Rennes – who could only manage a fourth place finish in the Europa League group Celtic topped.

While we are not in PSG’s class, we more than held our own against a French and Italian sides in the Europa League this season.  Like Celtic, Rennes will enter the Champions League qualification round next season.

Just found out on ‘other channel’ about the very sad news of Minx1888 passing.

Condolences to her husband , Hamilton Tim , and will offer up a few prayers for the repose of her soul.

They made a lovely couple and it is devastating albeit not without warning.

    RIP Helen.

Even more devastating is being unable to pay my respects in person.

  3. Terrible right now to try to arrange a funeral that will pay real tribute to lost loved ones.

My uncle died on the 17th of April of Covid-19 at 91 years old. He led a remarkable life and would have had a magnificent send off in normal times. Instead there were 11 family members allowed in the crematorium, with about nine of us, socially distancing outside in the car park, who were supposed to be able to listen to the service on speakers.

The manager of the crematorium decided to tirn the speakers off, so we watched online in the cars before wishing the family well from a safe distance after the service.

I know the family found that very hard, his wife of 66 years was also unable to attend as in lockdown in her care home.

I hope that Helen will have a fitting tribute paid to her life when this situation calms down as we will do for my uncle. R.I.P. Helen and Wee Harry 🙏

  6. Shamelessly looking for anyone who can spare a donation of a price of a non-lockdown pint.

My step daughter has being raising funds for the past year to raise money for St Andrew’s Hospice in Airdrie, in memory of my dad who died at 55 of Pancreatic Cancer after a very short illness. But also to remember the many, many loved ones that thousands of people have lost but have grateful memories of the Hospice). His 6 year anniversary was a few days ago and we were looking to close the Just Giving page on the 1st, however, with gift aid added she is so close to reaching £1000 so hoping one last push can get it over the line in the next few days before closing the campaign.

Any small donation would I’m sure be well received by the Hospice especially at this time:

Another wee thing I’d like to post it regards Zbezek our Polish friend.

He went over to America to look after a friend or relation of someone from Poland who was unwell, Zbezek said he was staying for 3 months, but as things worked out the person he was looking after Died after three week or so,Now zbezek wants to come but he is stranded in America as the yanks have stopped all flights leaving America now Zbebek is trapped in Yankieland until the flight path to Poland is re-opened, I can’t remember where he is based in America, Florida i think, and probably Miami, but not sure. It would be great if someone met him whilest he was there and go see him.

  19. Big Georges Fan Club - Hail, Hail, Wee Oscar on

Have messaged Chris separately, but just wanted to reiterate here – condolences from me and Wee BGFC.

As so many others have noted similar experiences – first meeting with HamiltonTim was in the train station in Dingwall where he managed to get two tickets for me and WeeBGFC who had driven up without briefs on the off-chance.

Became friends immediately, and met Helen soon after, and then her big daft laddie :-) We see HT and Helen often at games – last time I saw Chris was at St Johnstone in February this year and I had no idea about Helen’s illness – I wish had known, but I guess it wouldn’t have made a difference in the great scheme of things.

Last time I had a good natter with HT was after a game against Hibs late last season – me and WeeBGFC had got the wrong train back from Edinburgh (long story) and were waiting at Croy station for my wife to come and pick us up. Who got off the next train from Edinburgh but a slightly pi55ed HamiltonTim :-))) Seems he and Helen had a very rare falling out that caused HT to go to the game without her. He seemed to have enjoyed his day out on the beer, but secretly I suspect he was drowning his sorrows at having to go to the game without his good lady.

God bless Helen, Chris and their family – and every one of you CQN people.

    Love you all.
