To be fair to Steven Thomson he can actually string a sentence together.

Most of their pundits are completely inarticulate.

That’s what happens when you’re unaccountable.

    Thank you Yogi.

I’m now assuming Goodwin is happy to go along to get along👍

  3. For the earlier enquiery: This season Celtic have scored four on four occasions, five on four occasions, and six and seven on one occasion.

  4. Where did all the roasters come from?

I thought they’d all be used yesterday 😁.

5 points ahead going into final game before WS. I reckon there is just a wee bit of fatigue from the number of fixtures. But we are still winning and creating chances.

I’ve noticed of late that whenever there is a contro decision with Celtic they will only show it again if it puts us in a bad light.

Think Goodwin was on our books as a youth.

Apologies.shouldnt have posted that…just dont agree with your take on the games…especially so far apart…

We all have the best at heart.

  8. Well, that was a very frustrating game to watch. Hard to know where to start. Apart from Odsonne, we displayed a poor first touch, lack of movement, poor passing, shooting and crossing, poor decision making, defensive frailties, and wastefulness in front of goal. If we could put away the same percentage of chances as our opposition ( a la Aberdeen and St. Mirren recently ), we would be cruising. But today, we are nervously hanging on in the last few minutes, a Collum decision away from a last minute penalty, and loss of points. A self created ridiculous position to be in.

On Sunday, Sevco will be at full strength, with a midfield five of Arfield, Jack, Kamara, Aribo and Kent, and an out ball to Morelos. Based on our miserable performance in the League Cup Final, we have three problems to solve: One is how to prevent that midfield overwhelming Brown and McGregor, two is how to prevent Katie and Goldson meeting every ball from their corners and inevitable free kicks, and three is how to prevent Morelos turning any one of our four defenders.

Today gave me little confidence that we will do that. Forrest, Johnston and Ntcham can’t tackle a fish supper, Ajer is very weak in the air, and our full backs get caught repeatedly on the wrong side of their man. It would be highly unlikely that Forster will replicate his stunning LCF appearance, so we are going to need a huge turnaround in individual and team performance from today to overcome Der Hun. And we are going to need it from the outset, and not permit them to build up any momentum or confidence.

Lastly, Lenny really should talk to Jullien, Ajer and Boli about the farcical way they go down as if shot on the lightest of touches. It is embarrassing to watch. They should be forcefully told to man up and grow a pair!

  9. 11 league wins on the spin and people are on here complaining about our goal difference not being as good as it should be, wtf ?! Today was about 3 points and managing the second half with a big game less than 72 hours away.

The pressure is all on Sevco – we’re imperious at home and have a great chance to take a decisive lead in the title race. We’ll be on it from ko on Sunday, I’m very confident these players will empty the tank and run out comfortable winners on Sunday.

  10. A bit careless and sloppy, all over the park.Passing poor, and we gave the ball away a lot.You see when the wee man goes to the byeline,do you think at least one of our players could gamble on him putting the ball across.?

Looking a wee bit jaded, and the poor surface did not help us.Suits farmers and hammer throwers, which St Mirren are.We will be up for it on Sunday.

  11. iniquitous …..

I agree, defensily we must man up, as per my previous comments regarding our central defenders and boli boli

  12. INIQUITOUSIV,

Your last paragraph – I agree 100& In my day they would be called “Big Jessies”.

  13. Thanks for all the great updates from GG , An Dun et al. A little blip at the end but scoring early was crucial. Off the pitch this festive season Celtic have had to publicly defend our Swedish international player against a media witchhunt. Shame on Shortbreid and all the rest of them for misrepresenting the Great Glasgow Celtic.

  14. Half way through the season and we have 52 points from 19 games.

Multiply that figure by two and…..you get a big number.

Not all of those points were pretty, but they all count.

A home win on Sunday in the Derby will prove a fine end to the year, the decade even.

and an even finer start to the New Year.

Soft drinks all round! For those that can hannel em!

  15. MCNUT on 26TH DECEMBER 2019 5:38 PM

Livi was bad, Hampden was bad, today was bad, what will Saturday bring? If Sevco give us a ‘doing’ on Sunday, many will be on here saying “we seen it coming” and they will be right.

Good evening McNut. It may be time to assess your support of Celtic. Clearly, it brings you no joy and it’s damaging your judgement.

  16. Neil Lennon needs to come out now and again and tell the fans ,Media after the game has ended that his team didn’t play well this afternoon,ok 3 points is all that matters ,but to come on and say my team were really good and we deserved to win,I’m not buying that after watching that display to day,and for some to come on here and saying the ref is a cheat etc,and Boli was hacked ,Boli went down like he was booted all over the place, to me he was cheating As for Jullien if he doesn’t get a grip off himself I’m afraid he going to be a bombscare he looked well off the pace this Afternoon

  17. I know people are concerned because last time out we were not at our best against sevco, but if I recall right we won and we done it without a striker, with 10 men for 40 minutes and we played the whole game with 3 left wingers on the pitch.

Flooding the midfield with shite players like Jack, afrield and co does not worry me. In fact it is essentially what every club in scotland does against celtic. If celtic turn up celtic win, if celtic don’t turn up celtic still have a good chance of winning.

Don’t understand mindset in here at times.

    HH

  18. I said way early in the afternoon that both Collum and Ross were beyond being cheats. I stand by that. St Mirren were allowed to kick us off the park early on in the game. Why their centre forward wasn’t booked for the treatment he meted out to our CHs and how the guy who took out Frimpong wasn’t booked either simply reinforces what I think. As for the goal given as offside by that particular linesman, all I can say is he has history in his dealings with us., If that had stood, as it should have, we were in easy street.

  19. Everything about Scottish football reeks of the 1950s. While much of society has moved on, football here is a last refuge for the backward and the primitive. The SFA, its on-field enforcers (the refs) and most of the media all subscribe to the view that Glasgow Celtic is alien and undesirable.

  20. Fritzsong 7.51pm

Hadnt read McNut’s post but read yours and Timbhoy2 at 7.53pm…

I suppose it takes all sorts but I still don’t know any actual Celtic fans who are as worried about Sunday as McNut and are annoyed about Neil as Tbhoy .. ah well that’s the variance of a Celtic blog … McNut you keep on posting but as a “new” poster you fair admire the Sevs … hope that’s not “ganging” up but you seem to praise Stevie Gees Hampden performance on a daily basis…. Neil Lennon’s Celtic team actually lifted the trophy 🏆 but don’t let that get in the way :-)

  21. anybody else think that today ON strolled about the pitch as if he felt is better than playing at Paisley against st mirren

  22. macjay1 for Neil Lennon on

    The dilemma for Lenny.

Do we encourage our players to go down as if shot by a sniper as other players do , or tell them not to feign injury or pain ?

Mc Innes and Gerrard both seek to pressure refs to get decisions for their teams.

    Should Lenny join them ?

    If you can

  23. The comments on here today suggest we have notched our angt way up past 11 or maybe it was just the hangover from all yesterday’s drink.

That was a comfortable win today.

We had 64% possession, 17 shots (5 on target) and 10 corners.

The only stat that St. Mirren beat us on was in fouls awarded- they were penalised only 6 times, while we, the superior attacking team were punished on 8 occasions, resulting in one yellow apiece.

The only stat that matters was that we scored 2 (or should that be 3) good goals while they scored in injury time from a deflection and never threatened again.

Any fear that you have for next Sunday is self inflicted.

Neil Lennon got called out by the usual dissatisfied suspects today. He has provided us with 17 wins and one draw out of 19 competitive SPFL games. That is a great achievement worthy of respect in anyone’s book.

We have scored an average of 2.84 goals and conceded an average of 0.57, that is, as near as dammit 5 goals for every one the opposition score.

Yet, the dissatisfied dominate the match day commentary, predicting doom and expressing displeasure even after their predictions were rubbished. Sevco had a much tougher afternoon than us and they were at home. They did nothing to justify the level of fear some of our fans have of them.

Yes, we are in a title race and yes, they are improved this year but we remain at odds of 4/11 to win the title while they are 9/4. If the result on Sunday goes to form, we will be 8 points ahead with one game more played. That will be a substantial lead but not a finished race. If Sevco scrape a draw we will be 5 points ahead with a game more played- still in the lead, and still favourites.

Only if they can turn us over on our own ground , in front of 54k Celtic fans, will they have the edge, and, even then, they will stil be 3 points behind and the race will NOT be finished either.

If you think we could have slipped up in Paisley today, think how nervous the Ibrox fans are about their greater potential for slipping up.

I will offer 2 pieces of criticism about today’s performance:-

    1) Julien, for the 2nd time this season, got himself involved in a feud which could have seen him sent off.

and worse still- 2) Bolingoli’s face holding after the chest push was embarrasing for anyone wearing a Celtic jersey.

Both players had reasonable games, Boli especially, but those actions were self indulgent and unworthy of anyone in team sport. I trsut Neil Lennon, our magnificent manager, will have strong words with both of them.

Next Sunday’s game should help to reduce the unjustified angst and criticism prevalent in our support.

  24. Macjay 8.53pm

Hope you and your brood had a lovely Christmas …

As for our manager Neil Lennon.. he is a stand alone type of person .. McInnes & Gerrard could add their trophies as players & managers together and they would still be chasing our Neil’s tail :-)

    Roll on Sunday

  25. SFTB 8.58pm

Can you please stop basing your posts on facts … I tend to miss the updates whether watching the game or listening to the radio … even though both of those stations can just be as negative

Since February Neil Lennon’s stewardship has been nothing short of amazing, securing the title & Scottish Cup equally, if not bettered by Europa League section success (even more commendable after the Clug eff-up) but other managers have also tried Callum at left back … anyhow February-December for our manager has been a total unrivalled success in my eyes 👀
