  1. Margaret McGill on

I have been reading many CQN posts (all of them) these last 3 days and I am quite surprised at how many CQN’rs and maybe a large fraction of Celtic support in general dont get whats going on and what will go on.

Pasting Celtic songs like we dont get it.

So I was watching National Geographic last night and I have come up with a simple analogy for the inside the box of us.

    Its a bit like this.

Celtic and its supporters are like pride of lions. Territorial yes but still magnificent.

Huns are like Hyenas. Scavenging scum bags territorial and killers in their own way too. Last year the adult Hyenas went rabid and the humans culled them.

Now the humans are protecting the Hyena cubs of the species.

We need to kill the cubs at every opportunity like any self respecting Lion.

  2. martbhoy I found myself cleaning and dusting the room I was in so undemanding was the spectacle.

Like the Celtic players, I came out unscathed.

Perhaps I was unfair earlier. Could be they dropped down to third gear because they all want to play on Wednesday night. Obviously, they do. I’m not questioning that.

4 days to let our imaginations run riot as to the result on Wednesday night.

I’ve no idea what NL will decide tactically. Has to be something different.

macjay1 @15:38 a stubborness in WGS and poor understanding of how to manage a young player saw the departure of Charlie Mulgrew.

WGS and NL played managers able to deal with the young them.

I’d hate to lose any of our young players because they refused to be crushed.

NL has a long way to go before he is to football management what Billy Connoly is to comedy.

    How do you know?

What`s your claim to football coach evaluation?

  4. setting free the bears

Yes, the second half didn’t go to script, where Celtic pour forward and score more and more goals, on top of the lead they had safely, resecured.

Whilst we played well ourselves, I think the ‘dip’ was more calculated than some think and Celtic were deliberately more cautious.

We went gung ho against St Mirren at Hampden and payed a heavy price, I like to credit NL from learning how to navigate a cup tie against the Paisley side, and 1- 2 gets tyou to the same semi final as 1-5.

  5. I thought we scored two very good goals today in what was a stuffy away cup tie, good to get through.

I haven’t posted on the LNS decision because I’m still sick to the stomach about it. However, although I was expecting a cover up, I have to admit to being shocked about the brazenness of the decisions. The explanations from LNS on no sporting advantage and player eligibility are quite breathtaking in their absurdity.

He obviously believes that all football fans are like Gordon Dalziel.

  6. My concern about today was the lack of a simple quick pass from defence or midfield to a player in acres of space. When we pass quickly, teams cannot do anything against us.

  7. ulysses mcghee @16:19 I’d take a turgid trip to the nest round over a glorious defeat any day.

I’d still, however, prefer “a stylish victoree”

  8. Malone Bhoy,

I agree with most of you post..

    However..

    “not a goal scoring midfielder”?

Have you been watching Celtic lately?

If we were comfortably defending a 2:1 lead with professionalism, I’d agree.

I have no doubt that NFL instructed them to defend their lead. You are right that the tactics were deliberate. However, the execution was fairly poor and we did not have a comfortable 2nd half. In fact, I’d say St. Mirren were probably worth an equaliser.

This team is not yet as good as the MON team in killing a game but, I suppose, they need the practice in trying to do so.

  11. Should have added..

Given Joe’s somewhat limited game time as well as his role in the team, his goals return reads fairly well.

    Touchy on here today :)

We are in the semis that is all that mattered today JOB DONE.

I was a nervous wreck today thinking about what would have been the reaction to defeat.

    FROM EVERY WHERE.

Neil & the players maybe felt a touch of that, there seemed a nervousness in our passing.

    I CAN LIVE WAE THAT

we are alive , top of the league and in the semi final of the cup.

  15. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

We can all see there are several problems with the team.

The biggest issue is appetite, or lack of, to be precise. The two midweek games are worth looking at, our opponents matched Celtic (second half in Perth) and thereafter we wilted. The team are fine dominating possession, passing etc. But a team, as St Mirren did in the Semi-final, who hustle and work, are rewarded by facing a nervous looking Hoops team thereafter.

There is something missing in the team, drive, dig, call it what you will.

The team made a great start in the continent’s premier competition but the team-build is still at the 1st fix stage just now.

I’m sure NFL will add the missing ingredient.

okay macjay. “NL is to football management what Billy Connoly is to comedy. ”

    Happy?

    Your construct.

    Your response ignores the question.

    No problem.

    Lennie does the job.

    What do you do?

  17. 2nd half a bit sluggish but overall deserved the victory.Would like to get Hibs/Aberdeen in the final and get 100pc boycott of the SFA competition, imagine their showpiece with not a soul at it !

    Hail Hail.

  18. TwoMacaroons on

I thought the first half was an enjoyable watch. Both teams were going for it, we pulled off a well worked corner straight from the training ground and took the lead. Admittedly Izzy was having a bit of a mare but Lenny decided to stick with him and he settled more in the second half.

Second half was not so entertaining, both keepers pulled off fantastic saves and the game became bogged down, we were holding on at times, Sammy didn’t make much difference running the ball out of play at times. On the whole we’re through, but will have to play better, much better than that on Wed and at Hampden in the semi. HH

Celtic competing in Scottish football is like entering your child in a beautiful baby competition and finding your bambino’s competitor is Lilly Savages offspring.

DUFC support might be a bit more inclined to support your idea. After the way the SFA behaved when the huns boycotted their showpiece competition I think all dufc supporters would be happy to stick it to the sfa.

The most lightweight Celtic team since Liam Brady that has beaten Barcelona and got to the last 16 of the CL and are champions.

Neil Lennon should be made Director of Football at Celtic.
