Hard to please some of our CQN greetin’ faces.

Another good day for the club.

    Another hard-fought victory.

Apparently that is not good enough for some.

The greetin’ faces want more style.

Scottish cup ties are not won with the rapier or the foil.

They are won by hard working Bravehearts with the battle-axe & the broadsword.

They are all about blood & guts.

It is far better to watch than your balletic Classico nonsense, which has all the passion of sequence dancing.

    Well Done to Neilly’s battlers.

I’m aff oot tae celebrate with copious quantities of real beer & talk about the great Celtic.

  4. macjay1 @15:38 a stubborness in WGS and poor understanding of how to manage a young player saw the departure of Charlie Mulgrew.

WGS and NL played managers able to deal with the young them.

I’d hate to lose any of our young players because they refused to be crushed.

NL has a long way to go before he is to football management what Billy Connoly is to comedy.

Good observation, I totally agree. Just look at the game the other night. Motherwell were right in our faces all night and deserved thei victory.

I feel our play is far too slow allowing defences to get men behind the ball and reorganise. However, we are making far too many errors to play at a higher tempo just now. Too many passes going to the opposition, too many clearances going to the opposition. Personally I think it’s in the mind. The players know they’re winning this league, they’ve known that since before a ball was kicked this season, so to me it’s a concentration lapse. At times you can’t blame them but then you think about the money the fans have ploughed into the club not to be short changed by lackadaisical performances. However, Lenny and the bhoys are in a no win situation. We’ve dropped a fair few points this season and people get on their backs, then they win at a canter and people get on their backs.

You are quite right to flag up that the use of the EBT scheme was deemed unlawful in the case of 5 players, where what FTT describes as ‘bonuses’ were paid.

Additionally, Rangers themselves acknowleged that the Discount Options Scheme used to fund the wages of Flo and De Boer in the period 1999 to 2003 was unlawful – the so called ‘Wee Tax Case’. Was the DOS scheme disclosed to the SPL and SFA?

The Commission states: “Nor is it a breach of SPL or SFA Rules for a club to arrange its affairs – within the law – so as to minimise its tax liabilities.” The operator being “within the law”. Applying this logic, a competitive advantage was gained or sought to be gained, by the use of the DOS scam and the EBTs in the cases of 5 players, and the means were accepted to be unlawful, thus the competitive advantage was ‘unfair’.

These issues were excluded from comment by the SPL Commission. Inexplicable.

There is something worse than a currant-bun; one that chooses to impersonate a Celtic supporter.

This one has learnt to curb it’s tendencies and be a little more subtle. But the jackal snarls and shows it’s true nature every so often.

  17. The SFA’s practice seems to be that a player is deemed to be eligible unless they know any different. Or, in other words, if you want to play an improperly registered player, just don’t let us know.

Or does that only apply to clubs with the word “Rangers” in their name?

  18. KevJ if the best you can do with time to think is “Troll, hun, pash” and the teenage girl favourite “what ever”, I can see no social function in meeting up with you.

  19. Just back from Paisley and I have read no comments.

Pleased with the win but far from pleased with another second half dip.

Fraser Forster & Adam Matthews showed effort, as did Kayal when he came on. Everyone else was at half pace and we gave St. Mirren too many easy balls to win.

Neil bawled the team out on Wednesday but, whatever galvanising effect that had was gone by half time.

I know we will raise our game for Turin but we will have to raise it by a high factor. Hopefully Giorgios’s rustiness is near gone and that Gary and Vic and James will have a stage upon which they deem worthy of producing a performance.

    Roll on the semis

Not good today but well done big Fraser, another two top notch saves.

I quite like Joe and think he is improving game by game after being out for a wee while with injury, but I understand exactly where you are coming from. Hopefully quite soon Joe will grab a game by the scruff of the neck, I’m certain he is quite capable.

No not lucky. I can spot a bore a mile off.

  24. Jeezo the reaction of some on here you would think we got beat, admittedly not a great performance but get a sense of perspective bottom line this was an away cup tie against another SPL side it was never going to be pretty football or a walk in the park we just did enough to deserve the victory take that any time if it means lifting the silverware

  25. Kojo

Ledley is the type of player that you often don’t notice but he allows the rest of the team to play better when he’s on the field. He’s not a creative outlet (like Commons or Mulgrew) or a snarling tackler (like Kayal) or a rock (like Wanyama) or a goal-scoring midfielder (like… we’ll we’ve not had one of these in a while and could be doing with one!) but he is a bit of everything and has great positional discipline. I think the team plays better with him in it.

I’m actually a bit disappointed with the treatment Stokes gets. Personally I think he puts a lot more into games and is more creative than Hooper in the sense that he sets up goals but can also create a goal for himself rather than relying on a pass. Hooper probably has more genuine talent and natural ability but I think Lennon gives Stokes a hard time… just in terms of body language, no idea what goes on behind closed doors.
