Spartak Moscow have appointed Valery Karpin as caretaker manager. The former Russian international has had an active role in the club since 2008, variously as chief executive and manager. He took control of the first team when he replaced Michael Laudrup in 2009 until Unai Emeri’s appointment this summer when Karpin returned to his executive role.
He is an experienced pair of hands who is likely to stabilise things after the spirit had been drained from the club. Spartak are already out of Europe but will pose no less a threat than Inverness when they arrive at Celtic Park next midweek.
Neil Lennon will not be particularly concerned by the impact of Celtic’s defeat by Inverness on Saturday on the league table but the experience will still be arresting. Celtic have won three of five away games in Europe this season, losing the other two by a single goal, but there is clearly still work to do when faced with a home challenge in the SPL. Valery Karpin will be keen to prove he can exploit this.
Celtic have established credentials in three areas this season: they can defend adroitly when setup to do so, they are a major threat at set-pieces and they are an effective counter-attacking side. Any other attributes remain a matter for conjecture.
The first instruction against Spartak should be ‘stick to what you’re good at’.

TET,
No poor bookies;-)
Kojo,
Worried, nah. Neil Lennon will sort out the short term malaise in the SPL.
I’d love to go and be entertained every game, it doesn’t happen, but I am not so impatient nor so demanding that I’ll start to worry at this stage, we’ll be fine.
I would like to see more youngsters getting game time at the moment, hungry youngster may mix things up. But then would the fitness of the senior players suffer, it’s balancing act, and not an easy one.
Quiet on here tonite.
So thought why not see what thems are saying on rm.
They’re calling for court cases against
anyone who had the audacity to question murrays cheating ways and for him to step to the fore.
Don’t the thick b*****s realise he wants this to die just like their ex club did.
Kojo, the only time this season the roof was in danger was when Tony Watt scored the second v Barca, and it was being blown off, not caving in;-)

I rarely post on the site but avidly read each day.
I thought I would share a couple of snippets that I picked up today.
The first concerns the building of a hotel at the stadium. The hotel would be situated where the superstore now Stands .Scheduled to be ready for the commonwealth games. The plans are at a very early stage and are subject to a feasibility study.
The second bit of info I heard of was the Champions League bonuses that are in the offing if we make it to the last 16. The sum of 200k per player was the figure given by a source at parkhead. This would maybe explain the performance level being far superior in Europe than in the league.
I don’t know if anyone else has heard the same but I thought I would pass it on.
Could someone advise me how I can change my moniker as you can see it is not exactly tasteful after recent events.
Hail Hail
Kojo,
We’ll get past the group stage and league form will return.
I trust the manager, and the team.
I did miss the Green Brigade on Saturday, that frankly worries me more than a short term problem with the team.
Just had one of those em£es take away…prob was i stuck it in the freezer last nite..so had to sit it on a pyrex dish over the wood burning stove..took ages to thaw out well worth the wait ..delicious…..heat up couple donuts now wi a wee coffee feet up and read the blog

Murray was prepared to offer hmrc a £10m settlement.
As you say … He knows he is guilty and would love the story to now go away.
If the utt finds them guilty again he would look even stooopider than before.

Recently I had the privilege of attending the service at Saint Mary’s of the Calton on the evening of the 06/11/2012
Prior to mass there was three speakers, each where a class act in their own right
For anyone who had not heard the speech from Terry Dick, the son of Glen Daly and a volunteer from Celtic Graves Society, then I would strongly recommend this.
Terry is also a historian of Celtic, in addition to hearing his speech on the night, I came across Terry’s speech at a recent event in Dumfries which was shown on Celtic Tv, where Terry Spoke at the Grave of Brother Walfrid
For me this puts all things Celtic into perspective and if there is anyone from Celtic TV or Media reading this I would urge, you to make this available on FREEVIEW
I would also suggest that you make a big thing of actually promoting this on your web site so that as many people as possible can get to hear what Terry says,
ALL new employees of Celtic should watch this video, of Terry,
Unbelievable speech..
Better still if a DVD of the events of St Mary’s could be produced with proceeds going to charity then this would be a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for Celtic charity fund 125 4 125
(Just an idea )

” Celtic, Hivnae Tasted Victory.. playing against their Last 3 S.P.L. Opponents.”
Kojo, Inverness were gubbed by Motherwell last Sunday and Celtic beat the Dons the day previous.
P67 “Celtic have established credentials in three areas this season: they can defend adroitly when setup to do so, they are a major threat at set-pieces and they are an effective counter-attacking side. Any other attributes remain a matter for conjecture.”
I said exactly that, undoubtedly less eloquently, on Saturday evening listening to the drivel about “application”, “attitude” and “why are the team so different in SPL..”.
I’m not sure they are different in the SPL. The solid shape that is bringing such success in europe against team out to take a few off of us lacks a bit of spark to break down teams set up to stop us. Look to benfica at parkhead as the only team in europe that didn’t “have a go” against celtic this year, and we didn’t create zilch that night, set pieces included.
To avoid any doubt I am 100% in support of Lennon. I’m sure he’ll react to the what’s happening on the park, I think he’ll bring the team through this, add a new dynamic to the team be it tactically or through personnel.
If there’s one thing Lennon has proved in spades it’s that he learns fast and he’s willing to change things.
Kojo,
First time i have responded to your opinion on the current form!
I too have a feeling that NFL and the squad are under achieving in the SPL (at the moment), however it will all come good soon.
Last year we were 15pts behind Deadco and we clicked and never looked back, the same will happen again once the group stages are finished with nearly 2 months of domestic stuff.
We will win the league (possibly the treble) and have raised our european stock ten-fold.
Watch this space……

By the middle of next week, we could be, top of the league, in the next round of the Scottish Cup, and in the last sixteen of the Champions League. Wont be easy though. Hearts are another club who slipped back playing in Europe, (not getting paid didnt help) terrible start to the league, but, if they play as well as they did against Liverpool they could be just four points back. Arbroath derailed the Locos, but have only won one game on the road in the SFL. And of course Spartak Moscow. Not a consistent team between us, but we are closer to where we want to be. At full strength we would beat all three.
Doc is Neil lennon.
Ye its not been a good week.
Then again its been a great year.hh
jinky.
Huns in work strutting about like they have been absolved of any wrongdoing.
Especially the one that can see round corners.
They will reap what Murray sowed and we will rejoice in the gallowgate.hail hail
Aberdeen going top of the table tomorrow night should provide a fair bit of incentive for a tricky Hearts fixture.
Our November record so far is W 2 D 2 L 2. We need to beat Heats to avoid a 50% November.

Hopefully we can follow a poor week with a great one.
Three games that could see us progress in two cups and strengthen our grip in the league.

As we have a won 2, lost 2, drew 2 so far, any result will not give us a 50% November.
Or am I just being thick as usual :>)

50% November – you have just been awarded an honorary CQN Doctorate in Maths!
And with that I’m off to bed. :-)
I expect Neils team selection for the Hearts game to win convincingly! They owe him that.
