I listened to Stiliyan Petrov talk calmly about cancer yesterday, as he sat with Liverpool’s James Milner ahead of your Foundation’s Match for Cancer next month. Just a few decades ago, his recovery would be considered miraculous.
Cancer will affect one in every two of us. That rate is higher than ever, as people live longer, but, what was a death sentence all too recently, is now treatable and often curable.
If you have been around CQN for long enough, you will know stories like Stiliyan’s are not always how things conclude. We have lost too many of our number, and more of our loved ones, to this awful disease.
So the work goes on. In memory of those we have lost, in appreciation of those who have come through successful treatment, and in that hope that our futures are increasingly spared. Cancer success stories are one of the wonders of the modern world, and while millions suffer this illness, millions more contribute to the cause of treating and eradicating it.
The game itself will be a gathering of the Celtic clans, not just because of the way this disease has touched so many, but because Henrik will once more grace Celtic Park, as will Lubo, the brilliant Hristo Stoichkov, and the phenomenal Gaizka Mendieta.
Scott Brown will play too and Brendan is manager of Stiliyan’s team. The great and the good are touched by this affliction, which is rapidly being controlled thanks to the efforts of millions.
The game takes place on Sunday 8 September (it’s an international break). Tickets cost £14 or £6 concessions. You can buy them here.
I Look forward to seeing you there.
Welcome to Celtic, Daniel Arzani. The 19-year-old winger-come-central defender (lighten up, honestly!) arrives on a two year loan, having joined Manchester City a few days ago.
A word of caution – an away game in the League Cup is not the game I would choose to play tomorrow. Get the job done professionally, Celtic.

guys…
BRTH can probably say better than I, as I dont specifically know about Scotland, but in many jurisdictions, not only the person who posts it, but web hosts (like P67) and anyone who reposts it, can be liable for comments that may be liibelous ….
so, comments about alcoholism or drug taking …. may be funny, and might even be true (but you would have to prove it), … but, out of consideration for P67, probably best not to post them on here.

Magic to see you back pal. Missed you

THOMTHETHIM @ 7:41 PM,
Yes, I believe you are correct, it’s certainly my understanding.
It was of course nonsense to suggest the SFA couldn’t hold an inquiry due to being the Appellant Body.
They held the initial LNS Inquiry…
This inquiry was set up to look into the issues after Rangers went into administration
The inquiry was supposed to be independent but Stewart Regan joined the panel
The panel was restricted from looking into the wrong doing of Rangers by putting a timeframe on the investigation – the timeframe coincided exactly with Craig Whyte’s tenure – “the patsy”
During the time if the inquiry further and damning information hit the the public domain, including some serious allegations from former Rangers Director Hugh Adam’s
Included in the information that made the public domain was the revelations into Campbell Ogilvie’s involvement with the EBTs
Stewart Regan promised that the SFA would either expand the current inquiry or commission another one – he stated that the then SFA President Campbell Ogilvie was “heavily conflicted” in these regards and would play no part during subsequent processes
The LNS Inquiry was not expanded, the opposite in fact, the inquiry ended in short order and a report was presented to the SFA Board
A SFA Judicial Panel Disciplinary Tribunal was hastily enacted, the process was rushed through
The LNS Inquiry report was not only never published but was not used, as such, in the prosecution of Rangers, Craig Whyte in the JPDT – though selective evidence was presented
Far from expanding the LNS Inquiry to look at the further evidence emerging, the details of the WTC that were in the time frame of the then active inquiry were ignored
We also know that this inquiry did a preliminary investigation into EBTs but this information was suppressed, it was never presented as evidence and as previously stated, despite previous promises to the contrary, the LNS Inquiry report was never published
Around the time of this JPDT Stewart Regan announced the SPL were conducting an inquiry and so the SFA would suspend commisioning their own inquiry – as you say excusing themselves as they couldn’t conduct the further inquiries as they were Appellant Body
Peter Lawwell wrote to the SFA and stated it was rightly them and not the SPL that should be conducting the inquiry into EBTs
Rangers were found guilty by the SFA JPDT and were given various punishments including fines and a transfer embargo
Rangers appealed this to the SFA APPELLANT panel, proving the lie that they couldn’t conduct an inquiry, hold a disciplinary tribunal and also be the Appellant Body
Both Campbell Ogilvie and as you say Sandy Bryson gave evidence to the subsequent SPL Commision both their evidence and the LNS Commision itself was deeply flawed and partial as you know.
Thats as I remember it;)

Callum, Jamesie and Kieran were the best players against AEK, Moussa was excellent when he joined the fray.
Seeing Craig almost crying before the free kick had me thinking he is a prophet. Surely not. He talks to the press a lot. I don’t like leaks.
I found it very interesting that Brendans teams were LEAKED very early into his tenure. After such tightness.

A week is a long time in space.
Think it was Einstein that came up with that one.
Petec …. not often I will disagree with you (mostly because I often dont undertsand what you are saying :) ….
but I will disagree with you on this one….
with the exception of a few players (who really got what it meant to be a Celt … like Tommy Burns, Paul McStay, and a few others) …. I dont think the real heroes are on the ptich …. most are just average guys who get paid a piss pot full of money to play … and would play for someone else if they were paid more …
as for our Board … lilly-livered cowards…
for me, the real Celtic heroes are the guys that pushed Res. 12… and average fhans like CRC and Jobo who have given so much of their time to raise money and awareness for really important issues , and TET who helps the pooches (get back on here!) … that list isnt exhausitive, and I dont mean to offend anyone by leaving some people out (and I know a lot of people on CQN go a lot of good work) … just naming a few as examples.
I find myself visiting this blog less and less frequently these days. The standards of debate, behaviour and general decency has declined to the point where it is unrecognizable compared to the witty and informative blog of old.
During the week I looked in on my lunch break and saw a post from sydneytim and immediately logged back out. A guy who never posted once to celebrate either of our treble winning seasons was busting his ass to get his tuppenceworth in at the first sign of trouble.
Then today whilst enjoying a pint I look in again and see neganon2 insulting Paul67 as usual and he is still treated like some sort of hero by those who hate Celtic’s board more than they love the team. I seem to remember neganon2 claiming to be nothing but a simple accountant now he claims to be hearing rumors of Paul being behind a campaign against our manager. Only one person called him out others are too busy telling neganon2 that they are coming around to his point of view.
Paul set up this blog to counter the biased media and how they reported on Celtic. His site has been instrumental in feeding school kids in Africa, for raising huge sums of money to fund treatments for kids abandoned by their governments because treatment was too expensive and raised the money necessary to give a man back the chance to live among his family and not be confined to a hospital ward for the rest of his days. If it wasn’t for CQN there would be no Kano foundation and thousands of kids wouldn’t have seen Celtic free over the years. So go ahead pat neganon2 on the back but remember who founded this site and ask yourself just whose motives you trust more. The SMSM have hated this and other Celtic sites that have exposed their lies and collusion with Rangers over the years and have regularly tried to create distrust and disharmony amongst Celtic supporters. Neganon2 is in my opinion a paid media plant and boy is he earning his 30 pieces of silver.
As for hill16 that was a disgraceful comment, alcoholism is not funny and whether or not you like someone it does not give you the right to drag their name through the gutter for a cheap laugh. If someone was having problems with alcohol, and I am not saying he has, that is a personal matter and not suitable for this blog.
Rant over and not even lurking as much anymore. Goodbye

The Arzani loan deal is just a punt by the board. I’m guessing that Brendan was involved but only to the point of not objecting.
Because of that we should see it for what it is. He’s not the next big thing but could turn out ok.
I don’t see anything wrong with that but it should have been as a bonus on top of the quality signings we should have had instead of as a headliner.
DD, enjoy tomorrow, hope you get to see the hoops.
