Strong message from Supporters Association

926

Running late today…….

The Celtic Supporters Association are in their seventh decade so have seen it all before, albeit the matters the felt necessary to comment on today are uncommon in modern times.  After their AGM yesterday they issued the following statement:

“We do not condone in any circumstances the letting off of smoke devices of any kind, the dangers to the health of our supporters should at all times be paramount in everybody’s thoughts. We have quite a number of members who are of the senior variety, and the dangers to anyone with respiratory problems are greatly increased by coming into contact with smoke.

We also do not condone the use of pyrotechnics of any kind; again the dangers to our own supporter’s health should be paramount at all times.

Finally, the deliberate damaging of property within any stadium is not acceptable, and leaves a stain on the great reputation of the Celtic Support. The seats that were broken at Fir Park was blatant vandalism; nothing else.”

I share Association president Joe O’Rourke’s hope that this is a watershed moment for the support, but most of us know at least one person who thrives on chaos and notoriety.   We need as many strong voices to step forward as possible, someone with experience of putting genies back in bottles would be handy too.

Many thanks to those who participated in our Cinc Senti’s auction, which closed yesterday, raising £102 for charity.  More on where the money will be going later in the week……..

“Yes those were the days, when you didn’t reach for your laptop, phone or tablet or whatever to see what you had missed in terms of things Celtic. Those days when, unless you were from east Kilbride, you had no idea what the eather was like there— and to be honest, you had absolutely no interest in finding out!….. Back to the days when you had never heard of Kojo and his way of speaking or writing, when no one had ever Brattbakkedinanager, would recognise a cash strapped scrofulous hillbilly outside Beverley Hills, and the only Battered Bunnet you knew of belonged to your Grandad.”

Takes a lot of guts to do what you did..

    Chapeau..

A lot of great posts today on CQN which kinda kibosh’s the idea that we are being over run, by ne’r do wells, infiltrators, media hunniebunnies and people from Fife!!

In a time of much change and challenge in the Celtic World, those who think clearly will be prized for the calmness and many of them are to found here daily, hell we even saw the return of Bankiebhoy!

We have a long way to go to be united on here or perhaps even as a support but one thing is for sure than are many around us who will do there utmost to see us fail. W emus not give in to them nor should we ignore our own shortcomings..

We are Celtic all is a work in progress…

  2. Have a feeling that Lawell and his sycophants have just sown the seeds for sub 25k attendances at Paradise next season.

His actions would have shamed The Internment policy of the Brits and their government in 1971.

Hell mend Lawell and his board.

You have no idea what that means to me!

Thank you so much for your forgiveness and understanding. An unfortunate incident handled impeccably in true Celtic fashion.

Yes, maybe a coffee is a better idea, although as I said to Paul earlier, when I am out and about, or with people, I don’t seem to have these issues. It’s when I’m alone the demons get to work. Strangely enough I shaved today and I wish I had known your words then – I did not like what I saw staring back.

I no longer have your number but I can be reached at larssonse7en@gmail.com.

And I am the one who is humbled by your humility, forgiveness and understanding. It was you who was wronged after all.

Thank you my Celtic friend. I can now pack for Barcelona with peace in my heart.

We had a spat a couple of years back which is par for the course on here but it was never resolved due to name calling(on both our parts).

I notice you are still defining people’s character when they disagree with you.

I will probably annoy you for saying this but that kind of closed statement e.g. ‘You are loathsome'(sic), is a bit provocative.

I regret my spat with you and apologise for my part but i don’t want your constantly valid input to be clouded by invective.

  11. Disgraceful decision by Celtic.Bowing to hysterical pressure from the likes of Keevins in an orchestrated attempt by Irvine and his lackeys in the MSM to discredit our club.

If Celtic were as quick to root out the corrupt officials running our game,I would feel far happier tonight. They have let our game be run ,in the past couple of years by a cabal bending over backwards to get the hun back.Their silence,as the Dons fans said, has been appalling.

When its our own fans who break a rule, they are falling over themselves to tar and feather them.Where was our clubs statement when our toilets were systematically wrecked by huns, with police assistance?.At least Murray had the cohones to ban our fans from Ibrox.

Since Friday night I have been told that the neds who caused the trouble ,not the GB,were the mob who came through to have a square go with the Motherwell casuals. All arranged.Had a rammy with them before the game, then went in and wrecked the seats.

At the end of the day,the MSM have got what they wanted. The GB disbanded.Apart from a few handwringers on here, the other ones celebrating tonight will be the huns. While their mob ruin a £450,000 pitch, and have running battles with opposing fans,we put on our usual apologetic face and once again adopt a scatter gun approach in laying blame.

I hope the likes of Tony Donnelly and the others will take up the mantle of the GB and put some atmosphere into the morgue that Celtic Park is without the GB.Put on the Tifos, and stay until the bitter end cheering on the team when they are 3-0 down, but I doubt it.

All we will here now is the usual barracking of this months victim.

Sickened, and glad I am in Turkey.Makes it easy for me not to go back, until my club show some backbone. It will never happen.

The 128 people banned/suspended have received this punishment purely because they obtained their tickets through the GB block application.

There are plenty of us who do just that and did it long long before the idea of a so called singing section was ever stupidly mooted.

The problem with an overly quiet CP was/is all about what was/is supplied on the field, particularly in routine SPL games.

Pity there wasn’t more emphasis on that rather than the bizarre notion that Celtic supporters had lost the ability to support!!!

  28. eddieinkirkmichael on

To all the GB haters can you answer this-

you will of course be aware of the reaction from Celtic when this took place news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/6640523.stm … and the outpouring of calls for mass bannings from all the posters on CQN. Also can you enlighten me to the posts condemning the drunken louts that attended the Brentford game or even further back in 1995 when Andrew Smith, editor of the Celtic view at the time, wrote of his disgust of our away support in Paris.

For me the problem is not the GB, their politics are a separate argument, this issue is about the wider away support. We’ve all seen the vids from Amsterdam, how many drunken Celtic fans indiscriminately threw bottles in the general direction of the police with no regard for the safety of members of the public who were in attendance. We have a growing problem with some in our support and to lay all the blame at the door of the GB is dishonest and frankly reprehensible.

  29. Kikinthenakas – your bhoy is correct – anyone can look like a superstar on You Tube !!

But let me put it this way:

Kakitani and Yamada both played in the East Asian Cup which Japan won. Were that squad to play England there would only be one winner, and it’s not our southern neighbours.

We’re looking at Championship lads with frightening price tags, treble digit tattoos and egos the size of Saturn, when the Japanese market is churning out model pro’s with traditional values and exceptional technique. Look at the number in the Bundesliga !!

I predict Japan will go to the Q/F and maybe semi’s of WC. CFC should focus on this market, not Burnley, Watford or Peterborough !!

I hadn’t seen that stated anywhere as I’ve had to dip in and out today. I’ll postulate that at least some of the destroyed seats matched those details and to me the GB statement where they say that they failed to self-police their section supports that.

Anyway they all have 5 days to contact the club and say “I couldn’t get to my seat because there was a group of intimidating wee bams in the way”.
