Strong message from Supporters Association

926

Running late today…….

The Celtic Supporters Association are in their seventh decade so have seen it all before, albeit the matters the felt necessary to comment on today are uncommon in modern times.  After their AGM yesterday they issued the following statement:

“We do not condone in any circumstances the letting off of smoke devices of any kind, the dangers to the health of our supporters should at all times be paramount in everybody’s thoughts. We have quite a number of members who are of the senior variety, and the dangers to anyone with respiratory problems are greatly increased by coming into contact with smoke.

We also do not condone the use of pyrotechnics of any kind; again the dangers to our own supporter’s health should be paramount at all times.

Finally, the deliberate damaging of property within any stadium is not acceptable, and leaves a stain on the great reputation of the Celtic Support. The seats that were broken at Fir Park was blatant vandalism; nothing else.”

I share Association president Joe O’Rourke’s hope that this is a watershed moment for the support, but most of us know at least one person who thrives on chaos and notoriety.   We need as many strong voices to step forward as possible, someone with experience of putting genies back in bottles would be handy too.

Many thanks to those who participated in our Cinc Senti’s auction, which closed yesterday, raising £102 for charity.  More on where the money will be going later in the week……..

“Yes those were the days, when you didn’t reach for your laptop, phone or tablet or whatever to see what you had missed in terms of things Celtic. Those days when, unless you were from east Kilbride, you had no idea what the eather was like there— and to be honest, you had absolutely no interest in finding out!….. Back to the days when you had never heard of Kojo and his way of speaking or writing, when no one had ever Brattbakkedinanager, would recognise a cash strapped scrofulous hillbilly outside Beverley Hills, and the only Battered Bunnet you knew of belonged to your Grandad.”

There was a fantastic club called Celtic long before the Green Brigade and their hangers on materialised and there will be a thriving club called Celtic long after they’re gone. The atmosphere and colour while impressive, to a large degree! IMO had a stifling effect on the majority. The ego’s of a few were aloud to run wild, I guess the inevitable came to pass. I’m disgusted to see our clubs reputation and the majority of the support dragged through the mud by a vocal minority. It’s a shame it has come to this but I whole heartedly agree with the clubs actions. Hopefully we can now get back to rebuilding our reputation as the best fans in the game.

CQN is not the place for divulging some info. However, I can assure you that the Celtic casuals were not there as a group on Fri night. There may have been one or two who went as individuals. but not collectively.

The 25-30 casuals that I witnessed after the game were members of the Saturday Service (Motherwell casuals).

They were chasing Celtic supporters not Celtic casuals.

The 128 have not been banned for life they have been banned to allow Celtic to make further investigations which is fair and reasonable and a final decision will be made after the investigation has been completed not a knee jerk reaction as some of the board bashers on CQN are trying to convince us was the case. Secondly the fan sin section 111 have been warned about there behaviour several times and have not heeded the warnings so can blame no one but themselves for the separating the fans in that area. I do agree that it would have been better if they had split the two announcements and issued the information on separate days other than that I think both decisions are fair. H.H.

Compare Fir Park to the Forces bigotfest at Ibrox. Then compare the media coverage. That is the whole crux of mine any a good few others’ argument on the matter. The LL couldnt wait to form a posse, whip up a frenzy, set up a kangaroo court and get the gallows built before anyone is found guilty.

Lawwell does have a problem to deal with, but which one is the biggest. Is it those lovable but pesky upstart GB bhoys who brought colour, passion, and a thing called atmosphere to CP, but stepped out of line on a few occasions? Or is it the SMSM, a body of agenda ridden lackies who continually undermine CFC with headlines like ‘Paranoid Celtic Fans’..’Thugs and Thieves’ and my favourite ‘Tommy you should learn from this man’ post Ibrox Ref honest mistake when TB exploded (above a photo of none other than Walter Smith!). Only three weeks ago Lawwell was mocked and villified for his Rory Bremner joke.

We got the message a long time ago, well I did anyway. The MSM in the main are an enemy of our club and therefore bad for business. Much of this latest episode is down to them and it seems our board are now under Jack Irvine’s spell. Even this early its turning into an utter farce and sadly PL, the board and the msm will have more questions to answer than a group of young guys who were’nt even born when real football fan issues like the battle of Hampden 1980, the destruction of the Wembley pitch 1977 or the massive jail counts after every 1960s Glasgow derby were making deserved headlines.

  7. I don’t know Peter Lawwell personally but have spoken to a few people who have, including two regular posters on CQN. He is a passionate Celtic fan and, under his watch, the club is enjoing great success on and off the park.

This is not enough for some who believe that he should have done/be doing more to finish off the deidco, should get rid of the corruption in the SFA, should show support for the GB and put a CL winning team on the park. Otherwise he is some sort of traitor to the Celtic cause and should be sacked.

I’m not saying I agree with everything he has said or done, but, on balance, he has done a great job.

The level of awareness about what goes on in Scottish football is extremely low. Most fans still rely on MSM for their info. PL can’t go charging about making accusations of criminal behaviour against SFA officials, other clubs or even the Dutch police without reasonable proof. Remember who controls the MSM and how it delights in denigrating Celtic and our Irish heritage and the RC Church. PL is acutely aware of this and he has to make judgements which benefit the long term future of the club.

Those who say he wants them back challenging for a share of the CL money are simply wrong. We make more with them not around. FACT!

The corrupt practices within the SFA are slowly becoming apparent and that reckoning is at hand. The weasels within the MSM will be totally discredited in the eyes of most fans.

Sevco will lurch from one crisis to the next until they either properly put their house in order or they fold.

PL will keep Celtic on track and if that means dispersing the GB, so be it. They broke their word to the club by displaying that banner at the Milan game. I agree with the sentiment expressed btw, but why put the club in bother with UEFA, especially a few weeks after promising not to?

As regards Motherwell, I cannot understand how any right thinking person does not condemn wanton vandalism. Those responsible should be rooted out and banned. Why give the MSM more excuses to demean our club?

I have read about the Motherwell casuals’ attacks on Celtic fans and the non response of the police. Witnesses should report what they saw and ask the club to pursue the matter with the appropriate authorities. That’s a job for our liaison officer.

Finally, NFL and PL, get together and try to find a good striker in the January window. See if we can get further in Europe next year. HH

I wonder if our ‘Lunatic Fringe’ are satisfied with the damage they have done to Celtic this week or if there is more madness to come ? By ‘Celtic’ I mean in particular our 99% decent supporters and our players who played brllianly but hardly got a mention. Our worst enemies could hardly have done better!
