  1. That was an appalling performance.

Celtic as a team are going backwards at an alarming rate.

Serious, serious issues all over the park now.

  2. For the first time I’m really starting to doubt Brendan. We are repeating the same mistakes over and over again. The team lacks cohesion, variation and to be perfectly honest the players look lost and clueless. Last season we struggled desperately to score goals and that is continuing into this campaign. Our set peices are beyond woeful and not acceptable. Set peices are a huge part of the game and we are negligent both defensively and offensively.

We will beat Suduva and Hamilton at home and maybe even Sevco. But we will drop many, many points this season particularly against pragmatic sides. Worrying times are ahead and I fear the run will end at 7. Brendan couldn’t recover at Liverpool when things went sour, i sincerely hope he can recover with us as he needs to prove himself all over again.

  3. Auldheid,

I’d rather have seen Sinclair on, and make them worry more about defending than pressing Tierney. Izzy spent more time in their half than ours. We should have won by a comfortable margin tonight, not bringing on extra defenders, but, as you say, good players play badly sometimes. Just a pity that so many of ours are doing it at the same time.

  4. absolutely no confidence on the pitch at the minute, I’m always trying to stay positive but it’s extremely difficult right now. I wouldn’t be confident about us beating ANYBODY!!!

No fluent, quick passing of the ball & no sense of us having a belief that we will score, after such a good start we should have pushed on and scored a hatful.

    I’m Worried

  5. well that was 90 minutes of my life I wont get back, ffs what has gone wrong here, we have no feckin defence sorry gene.lol. where do we go from here absolutely scunnered.hh.

  6. mike in toronto on

two questions…. hopefully someone can answer them for me…

    1. Can someone explain what our system was today? What did BR tell them he wanted them to do today? i.e., most teams that play against Celtic have been told to attack down our right hand side … you can discern that from the play…. but, for us, I am not sure.

    2. Does anyone see our team practice during the week? If so, what the hell to they do all day? We play like a bunch of decent players who have never met before, so dont really know where anyone else is going to be/supposed to be.

  7. JimmyQuinnsBits on

There’s really only one word for that…. pish.

There does seem to be a mood problem here, but I’d be surprised if players were affected by the recent transfer spat, and these are players which should have won this comfortably. I haven’t a clue what the problem is.

The real problem with the transfers is, IMO, that we have very little chance of signing any player at reasonable value in this transfer window. Selling clubs will be aware of what has gone on, will perceive tensions in the club, and will use that to push for higher transfer fees. They will smell desperation, which is never a good negotiating position

  8. PHILBHOY on 23RD AUGUST 2018 8:05 PM

Last 15-20 mins agree, that’s why I said, tired badly. Up till then, especially in first half, he was MOTM and was the one trying to play a forward pass.

  9. The hands cant hit what the eyes cant see on

    @ NOTTHEBUS on 23RD AUGUST 2018 8:08 PM

That’s the attitude! Ignore the warning signs. All will be well.

  10. we are going backwards at a fast rate of knots , something stinks , agree with earlier poster that ONtcham was shocking tonight as he was last game against thistle , he could’t pass water , and his shooting is worse, did we turn down big money for him.

Even KT is not the same player we are so proud of , Jozo could’t get off the park quick enough after he went down, whats happened to our quick forward passing ,high tempo pressing game , all seems that long ago.

We are slow so slow , can’t string forward passing to any great effect , no creativity from midfield, as said earlier its painful to watch just now.

  11. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Thank goodness I don’t know any of you guys. Fickle doesn’t go anywhere near to decribe a lot of you.

    Celtic supporters my ar$e.

  12. Struggling badly against a pub team.

    Utter disgrace.

Too many not at the races.

Not one pass mark in that performance…not one.

    Substitutions were, again, baffling.

    Izzy before Sinclair, wtf?

  13. Poor pitch vs Bad attitude — discuss?

We are in some state at the moment.

We have talent, quality, skill and then some.

However we have no heart, no desire, no attitude.

Nobody plays facing the opposition goal.

It is all 270 degree turns and backward passes.

No one wants the ball nobody wants to do anything.

If change is coming then hopefully it happens quickly.

The complete lack of real transfer news is instructive.

We are not a properly functioning organisation at the moment.

The fear has gone in the SPL.

Too often we play with the fear.

Transformation required starting at the exec level.

It will soon be too late.

  14. Serious question. What is the point of getting into the EL with the current squad? We will be on the receiving end of a few doin’s if we play like this evening as there a lot of really good teams in the competition. We need an entire new central defense – oh and a decent defensive mid to help Scott B. Do ya think we are goin get anyone that will generate a bit of excitement, and I’m not talking about an injured Aberdeen player who (imo) is about as good as our other CBs

  15. Who knows what to make of that Celtic performance?

I certainly haven’t a clue as to what is going on.

    Different.

    HH. ?

  16. Nye Bevans' rebel soldier on

Next three games at home, lose the first one meltdown,

lose the second one meltdown, lose the third one meltdown,

win all three and everything is rosy.

Genuine question who thinks we’ll win all three?

  17. Very poor tonight,I also thought the park was not running true, but that cannot be an excuse.

Watched their goal several times on slow motion, cross was always going over Gamboa, Gordon came out to take the ball to his chest and their forward beat him to it.

It should have been evident to CG his RB was short and he should have went out and punched clear as ball was well within his reach but he chose to let it drop to chest height. Goalkeeper fault.

We will of course go through ( in my opinion )

  18. Delaneys Dunky on

Only positive I take from tonight is that next Thursday’s game is more competitive and interesting to attend.

    YNWA

  19. Tonight was a repeat of many SPL performances last season when we struggled to score and looked vulnerable anytime our opponents had possession.

I struggle to see what purpose our system has?

And once again especially in second they had acres of space jn central area they had acres of space to work with.

When will our coaches realize that possession is only one facet of the game?

Could they also designate someone to organize us at defensive set pieces so when our opponents threaten we at least know who missed their assignment and give us a reason to correct?

I said last season that the strengths of KT seemed to have diminished and tonight his constant stopping and playing ball backwards with acres of space in front of him was detrimental to the team.

  20. JimmyQuinnsBits on

    BCW,

Mate, I’ve tried to be fairly level-headed in any view I’ve given on a game. In the Ronnie era this would have been disappointing, but no great surprise. Brendan has set his own standards, and this is no where near them… and it’s not a one-off

    Something not right

  21. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Evening all.

    Tough watch. OK result.

3rd minute. Quick ball wide left, wide man makes space, crosses hard and fast into box with 4 Celtic players. Goal

5th minute. Quick ball wide left, wide man crosses hard and fast into box with 3 Celtic players. Chance Moussa.

7th minute. Quick ball wide right, wide man crosses hard and fast into box with 3 Celtic players. Panic in defence and rushed clearance.

    Last 83 minutes ?????

It is a simple game. Maybe we are overthinking our approach?

    Hail hail

  22. The goals we have lost this season – every single one – has been laughable. That is an indictment of our players but also of our coaching.

Something has happened at Celtic. The result is an unfocused transfer strategy and an insipid, unimaginative team on the park.

I do wonder if Brendan is for the off, and the players sense that.

  23. ”We are Celtic supporters faithful through and through”

Still allowed to be worried and not happy watching very poor performances!!!!

  24. Any comment from Brendan yet?

Be very interested in how he talks his way out of that shite.

Regardless of not signing anyone and the fact that half the squad is inexplicably injured, at the drop of a hat, that ‘performance’ is shocking and totally unacceptable, just like the games v hertz and AEK.

    Mince.

    NYEBEVANSREBELSOLDIER

I dunno if we’ll win all three. But I think we have to.

  26. DubaiBhoy (nee LondonBhoy) on

The biggest concern from tonight was the goalkeeper. A good shotstopper no doubt but can’t come for a cross (Scotland v England) and can’t kick worth a shit. Upgrading him is as important as upgrading our Centre half’s.

  27. If these performances had been from Ronnie’s team there would have been a mass outcry. Brendan deserves to be cut some slack but that will all evaporate if we don’t win next Thursday and if we lose to thems.

  28. 8 days left to salvage something from this transfer window and also to get shot of ‘The Belgian’.

  29. Hands.

I was referring to tonight only but “regulars” are not showing the form that made them regulars.

I was a reasonable amateur player, good first touch an eye for goal and quick.

The first two just went for about 6 months for no reason (okay maybe marriage :) ) and I couldn’t even get on the bench.

Then in a bounce game it all came back and I was never on a losing side for a year. Cup and 5s.

We all speak from our experience. That was mine. Gamboa’s first touch was a tackle tonight and when he needed to tackle he found his touch.

That in no way is to excuse the overall deterioration since BR joined and priority is to fix the spine. If not with a good signing then with a change in how we play.

    Izzy at LB?

Broony as sweeper and JT into midfield?

I once turned a good CF into the player of the season left back.

So are we making the best use of what we do have?

  30. Nye Bevans' rebel soldier on

    it needs sorted.

I think we will win our next 3 games by a large goal difference in each game.

I think Bain is a better all round keeper than Gordon.

Both good shot stoppers but Bains kicking and command of box is better.
