Yip, gobsmacked at how quickly things can/have unravelled. Dave King’s ‘pack of cards’ comment now looks prescient.
This is a failure of governance. A good Charman and independent board of directors should not have allowed the relationship between CEO and manager to deteriorate to the extent it has.
If it is irreconcilable then BR should resign. That should be followed quickly by PL. Desmond then has to replace the Chairman.
It’s a mess and means months of turmoil but we may have to write off this season in order to move forward.

BCW,
I agree we have to be measured in our reactions. We haven’t gone to hell in a handcart.
Maybe I’m not being clear, so let me state for the record: Brendan is the only manager I want at the club. IMO he’s the best we’ve had since Jock Stein.
However, there are indications – clear to me, but I hope I’m wrong – that there is a problem. And it’s not because we’re not winning, it’s because of the performances.
It may be just a blip that any team goes through, let’s hope so, and hope that we get back to what we were PFQ.
If we do, I’ll gladly hold my hand up and admit I lost ma bass for a minute. This doesn’t look like progression though, even recognising that progression necessitates mistakes at times.

If this is what happens to us at the first sign of a half decent challenge from the huns it doesn’t say much for our mental fortitude does it. I’m not sure how we expect our younger players to react when any confidence the support has in a team and manager that’s just had unparalleled domestic success evaporates after a short run of poor form.
We need to sort out the defence pronto as almost guaranteed sevco will play Morelos and Laffatme up front against us.
fan-a-tic on
I think we have a decent squad of players although it is imbalanced.
We have a playing system whose potency had declined after coaches first great season.
We became European fodder and Celtic park was viewed by SPL opponents as a good place to get a point.
We have executives who have always placed profit first and team a distant second.
All of the above needs to change if we are to continue being successful.
I know many Celtic fans are surprised at our stuttering start to the season but our performances last season pointed to such.
With no change in personnel or playing system we have been true to form.
I am more disappointed than surprised.
If you know the history.

As you know, I usually agree with a lot of what you say.
Not tonight though.
There are clearly issues at Celtic, Brendan’s interview as David 17 alluded to, throws the players, except Broonie and Mickey, under a bus.
He as good as says Jozo could have continued. He then accuses the players of playing the way they want rather than the way they were coached.

Disappointing performances/recruitment so far this season but DON’T PANIC just yet…
Same question following every game, why are we so bad at set pieces? I suppose tonight was better since Griffiths hit one good one that Ajer got on the end of and should have scored. We obviously don’t practice them, it’s hit and hope, generally hits the first man and when it doesn’t no one attacks the ball. 40+% of goals at World Cup came from set pieces, England got to a semi final because they were good at them and had a coach who specifically devised set piece plays.

What concerns me the huns sign lots of players Hearts sign lots of players Celtic struggle to sign players. Is it the lack of will ? is it we are to stingy ? Why cant we identify players then get transfers over the line ? Do the board not trust Brendan to sign quality ? H.H.

It’s because we can recognise that a challenge is coming, that they have spent money and improved significantly and yet we are standing still. We are letting them catch us. It’s inexplicable why we have not utilised our financial advantage to buy players.
Gary67 on
We have 8 days to give the team an injection of new blood that it desperately needs. We’ve had basically the same group of players for two, very successful, seasons, but teams must continually evolve. The last two seasons means we should have had 3 or 4 players lined up to sign pre season then we could ignore the rest of the transfer window. That would have put us in a position of being ready to kick on, if we didn’t then that would be the manager’s problem. But we didn’t, we haven’t backed the double treble winning manager, that’s the double treble winning manager we haven’t back, and wit 8 days to go we are scraping around for a deal or two to try to paper over the cracks. We now need 2 x CHs, a RB, a DM and an Armstrong replacement. Minimum.

I hope to watch the game tomorrow having recorded it tonight. I gather we gave away another shite goal – right now there is a serious lack of leadership in our defence and that is troubling.
A commanding CB would imo steady the ship and get the best out of Ajer. 1-1 away from home in a two legged knock out tie is not the crisis some will try to make out. As a result, it’s good. Hoping against hope we get a CB in very soon.

Regarding the absolute necessity of signing a first team ready centre half that is so far yet to materialise…
How long before someone posts about the reason it hasn’t happened is due to the lack of CL income, inflated wages, no one decent wants to play here , transfer window still open etcetera, etcetera…

What is the Stars on
The reason we haven’t signed a centre half is due to lack of champions league money, inflated wages and no one wants to play in Scotland
At the very minimum we need a experienced, commanding CH who can marshal our defence, someone who instructs and goads the other defenders. How come everybody and their dog can see that apart from those who run our team.
