Supporting your ex, hurting the one you love, ballsy Ashley

892

I’ve plenty of sympathy for Niall McGinn for coming under pressure after being spotted at the Kilmarnock-Celtic game on Monday, but not in any way distressed.  Players watch former clubs all the time, it’s not even remotely an issue, but Niall is experiencing the cost of playing in a team at the top of the league.  Aberdeen fans would neither notice nor care where he was on Monday if they were in their usual mid-table spot.

A taste of internecine strife does more damage than any external party could ever hope to inflict.  Glad to hear it’s taken route at our nearest rivals.  On a similar note…….

A serious bid to bring newco Rangers to its knees got into full swing yesterday, as thousands of ‘fans’ signed up to spend not a penny more with the club, while mock-Rangers jerseys (should that be mock-mock-Rangers?), sold by fans’ groups, were profiled in the media.

If you know your history, 20 years ago a group of Celtic fans, some working on the frontline, some working behind the scenes, orchestrated the Celts for Change campaign, which ultimately brought regime change at Celtic.

Celts for Change had two fundamental factors in their favour: people with access to the money required to resolve the club’s problems were among them, while those running Celtic did not have access to significant funds, personal or otherwise.

The lessons of Celts for Change is that before you hurt the club you love: make sure you are capable of laying a glove on those you are trying to damage, and when you bring things to a head, ensure you have the money to put things right.  In newco’s case this will be many tens of millions.

I backed Celts for Change and I wholeheartedly back those who are trying to bring down newco.  Their plans and foresight are exceptional.

Care to guess which Scottish club has been most active in the transfer market this month?  Falkirk, who have signed their fifth player.  They have won six of their last seven games and are now within a win of getting into a play-off spot.  Hot tip for the play-offs: Falkirk, Hibs, Queen of the South and Ross County.

What about Mike Ashley yesterday appointing Duff & Phelps as administrators to one of his companies?  Just in case you think he’s not ballsy.

    Interesting weather for the weekend…

Could the fixture list be affected?

Think I’d rather be in the canaries.

That’s the reality that some people are unable to grasp. If we sign a player on a 4 year contract and they excel, then we have to sell when they have 2 years left on their contract or their value starts to diminish.

Almost every single player that is playing for us, would jump at the chance to a move to any EPL team. The money and tv exposure they receive is far higher than the desire to win trophies in Scotland, or the possibility of 6 CL games.

The food chain goes something like this:

Dundee Utd -> Celtic / English Championship -> Low tier EPL -> Mid tier EPL -> Top tier EPL -> Barca / Real

There is very little we can to change that, If we had 60000 at every game providing a CL atmosphere, we would maybe, and I stress maybe be able to keep a few more, with the extra money and match experience it would provide. But of course that isn’t going to happen, for many many reasons, and it isn’t helped by man childs spitting the dummy out saying there not going back unless Celtic release a statement saying Rangers are a new club, or we fight back against the great conspiracy.

Every club in Scotland, the newest being the most prominent, with us not far behind, thinks that the SFA and referees are against them. It’s frankly pathetic, and harms our game no end.

  3. DD, would rather he stayed, Inter seem to be tooling up, would rather we didn’t downscale.

Wouldn’t want an unhappy camper though.

The least we should be able to expect.

I’m watching Barcelona destroy Elche. Does Sky get the La Tasca studio out in Spain or is it just here they do that?

The commentator says Elches players haven’t been paid for months and could leave for free at the end of this month.

I like the looks of Jonatas they’re striker who is not playing tonight but apparently he is on loan. Anyone else worth considering?

  5. In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

    Who said that?

Seems to me that if there isn’t an enemy, ( was communism, now Islam ) that one would be made up…..why…..mmmm…..justification for expenditure???

Americas industrial-militarily-complex will need to justify it’s existance, not just with hypotheticals, but by war-type testing of next gen weapons…..amazingly, there’s always a big-bad-wolf at the door, feel sick

    Not getting into that one.

So many ethical, moral pits, freedom to work after retribution, contrition, victim.

    Dilemma.

  9. on previous article Bobby Madden getting the/a semi.

If a TRIFC player makes a red card tackle(there will be three at least) Madden will have the yellow out before the Celtic player hits the ground. Dallas was great at it; running up to the hun waving the yellow all wide-ayed and stern looking.

  10. AndyF, 3mick3, Embramike and Danny – emails to you all re LMS3

Lennybhoy – I remember sending you your personal copy a couple of nights ago to your BT address. If you still haven’t got it, email me direct and I’ll send again…

Noticed a number of benches have iPads and smart phones. The Barca bench have one on and being used. Not sure if they are watching the game like one of the Scottish teams were recently and looked to be reviewing contentious refereeing decisions.

Barca are prob using it to monitor players heart rates, distance ran etc. The use of this tech to review games will need to be dealt with though as I can see phones smashing in the ground and 4th officials getting accosted in the heat of the moment.

  12. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Jimmynotpaul, FAB, Bada Bing, Geordie Munro & Delaney’s, these are the fourteen players I was told had all scored against the deidsters at Celtic Park, Hampden & Ibrox

were Jinky, Aiden McGeady, Choccy, Stevie Chalmers, Harry Hood, Henrik, Chris Sutton, John Hartson. Murdo McLeod, Charlie Nicholas, Tom McAdam, Big Shuggie, Bobby Lennox and Kenny Dalglish.

Most of the goals against them at Hampden were scored in League cup semis or the final.

Gentlemen, thank you for putting forward your answers.

Big John’s interview on radio 5 tonight about his gambling addiction was very good. He said the worst aspect of it was how his addiction affected his family and they were not as high in his priorities as gambling was. He bet on all sports even those he knew hee-haw about.

Ronny has already said we are not selling VVD this window.

Pedro can only sell him in that wee window in the summer where the income doesn’t show on the accounts till the following year.

  17. Doc,

Now that sounds like a wise investment.

And it won’t be addressed till good people are heard

  18. DD, don’t blame him for that.

Good to hear he is staying meantime though.

I’m sure he will get a move in the fullness of time, better for him, and us it is not yet.

  19. When you watch the hopeless CB’s at Arsenal,Spurs,Liverpool Man Ure etc, I think as the season goes on, his value will increase.

  20. Dallas Dallas …

    Just seen you post…

McGeady, Nicholas and McAdam are correct I think but I don’t recall Dalglish and Edvaldsson scoring against them at Celtc Park.

    That would make it 17!

  21. CRC – kitchen table and 4 chairs. With padded seats no less.

TheLurkinTim – not quite sure what you mean but if it’s a plea to join LMS3 just drop an email to cqnpredictor@gmail.com and we’ll get you all sorted.

On LMS3 we now have 83 entrants which is fantastic. But surely we can attract just 5 more? ;-)

Oh and a gentle reminder to the 31 who have still to send their pick in for this coming weekend – get to it bhoys and ghirls!

  22. Bada Bing, especially if he does well v Inter, and perhaps further in that competition.

Hopefully, hence my comment beneficial for us and him.
