Sustainable, successful, team development

799

There are several parts of Tuesday’s performance which could be improved upon, parts which will be exposed by the rigours of Champions League football, but we looked like an experienced European team, one who could go away from home, roll with the early season uncertainties, but still have enough in the tank to win comfortably.

For the last couple of years we have watched a team mature while Neil Lennon has continued to add young blood to the squad.  Fraser Forster has become an adept shot-stopper, puncher and kicker-with-both-feet.  Joe Ledley has developed into a disciplined anchor in midfield while Adam Matthews, Victor Wanyama and Beram Kayal have progressed even quicker than I am sure the manager expected.

Last season’s Europa League campaign contributed significantly to the development.  The team seemed to grow a few inches during the home win over Rennes, which propelled them onto the league title.  A Champions League examination will present no fears but will expedite progress.

We could be on the verge of the first sustainable, successful, team development plan in 40 years, one that delivers titles, significant progress in Europe and lives within its means.

  4. Thanks for all the recommendations, but I’ve made up my mind for tomorrow,Springbank Malts only, with a glass of water chaser,

I could change my mind, the Bon Accord might not supply Springbank whisky,But I have been informed by BT that it’s the best Malt shop in Town.

If it was the same team as rangers oldco, they are still in admin so would be deducted ten points for this season, Sevco are new therefore no points deductions…

    Makes sense tae me!

Isn’t the 10 point deduction an SPL thing which doesn’t apply to the SFL?

agreed, but so far they, the sfa and sfl are trying to brass their case with the backing of msm.

Only BDO can sort this, and they are being deliberately stalled until the share issue is complete.

Think if any team is still in administration at the beginning of the following season they incur a points penalty. Tae me therefore is shows they are not the same team, plus did Naismith and the other one not say it wasn’t rangers therefore they were leaving.

It’s no them when it suits them, shower of ……….. Add your own bits in!

I believe BDO have already been working together (hmmmmm) with the duffers, as for a share issue, biggest laugh yet, nae chance!

  14. What’s happened to the CQN five a side competition,it used to be held on the morning of the Hibs game.

  15. A tremendous recovery to reel in a fifteen points deficit and finish as SPL Champions and now the team has gone unbeaten in our last four games on the road in Europe. It’s plain to see that Neil Lennon’s young team are showing tremendous desire to strut their stuff on the European stage, a level of football that is new to them and boy are they relishing the experience.

On Tuesday night Celtic started at a whirlwind pace and never let the Swedish Champions settle. Then a couple of unforced errors almost proved disastrous and no doubt unsettled the team. Fraser Forster did what he is paid handsome money for and made brilliant saves. I thought our defending from corners etc. was excellent particularly after past experiences, Fraser coming off his line with great fisted clearances. A few dodgy moments apart, I thought our tackling and closing down of opponents was first class.

Big Sammi keeps his best form for Europe where he is let play football and a great night for James Forrest. The team has worked hard to win the Championship and get this far in Europe and finish the final furlong next week in the winners enclosure.

I’m sure I read somewhere if there is a share issue, it makes recovery of assets a lot more complicated which may lead hmrc to instruct BDO to concentrate on the debt recovery from companies and individuals.

  17. Oldtim and other malt afficionados.

As I’ve posted before my single malt tipple of choice is Glenrothes but I had a weird experience in Florida last year.

On my last day, a local barman recommended a bourbon called Kentucky Gentleman as one of the best sprits on the market.

Sallying forth to the local off-sales I was astonished to find that a plasic 1.5 litre bottle cost less than $10!

Throwing caution to the winds I bought a bottle and, discarding a pair of old trainers and some undergarments, was still able to make the luugage weight allowance.

The point of this long-winded story?

It was absolutely gorgeous and so much better on the palate than many of those poncy fiery malts I have bought over the years!

I used to take great pleasure in decanting some into designer bottles and surprising some of my friends when I finally explained to them what ithey were drinking and how little it cost!

So, if you have a trip to the states planned or have some teetotal good friends going there . . . . . . .

    Hail! Hail!

    “absolute inflexibility” ?

come on, Celtic will buy if the deal is right. why would you think any differently?

we will buy works in progress. if you’re suggesting we should buy a blue chip player that will put us into debt, forget it. it’s just not going to happen.

Celtic have a long term financial strategy in place. Short term gains dont come into the equation.

  20. On Sevcomedia they’re changing their attitude and humility is, at last, the order of the day:

“Dear Mr Green and Mr Murray,

Having seen the latest statements apparently coming from the offices of the SFA (and perhaps the SPL), i would like to think that a vast number, if not all Rangers fans will agree with me when i say that you should vote against any reconstruction plans.

It is clear that Scottish Football needs Rangers more than ever, Aberdeen are knocking on the administrators door just now it seems, while the TV companies must be in the process of cancelling their standing orders with the SPL at the lack of viewers for their flagship weekend games.

On the other note, Rangers now have the upper hand in regards to TV viewers and potential ticket sales, and while this has been born out of the siege mentality that is washing over us just now, you can guarantee that until we are on top of the pile again, and we et a full and unreserved apology from the rest of scottish football, the siege mentality will stay in the hearts and minds of all fans..

In short, let the *******s burn, the United’s, the Aberdeens, the Hibernians, let them all ******* crash, burn and die, then the other mob from Glasgow will see just who is the ******* power of the scottish game.

You can engrave yourselves in the hearts of all the Rangers fans if you tell the SFA and SPL to go and stick their ******* reconstruction, and the more embarrassing you make it for them, the more we will continue to back yourselves and your consortium.

    Yours sincerely

    A good bear on Rangersmedia
