You will remember times, not so long ago, when a successful Celtic team went 15 months without keeping a clean sheet away from home in any competition, even against lower league opposition. Already this season we have achieved what until recently was regarded as beyond the club, won two games away from home without conceding.
Helsingborgs are not of the calibre of opponents Celtic can anticipate facing in the group stages of the Champions League (assuming no bizarre reversals), but they disposed of the Polish champions 6-1 on aggregate in the previous qualifying round and are as resourceful as Aalborg or Utrecht.
There was plenty to be pleased with in last night’s but the most striking element was the performance of Kris Commons. He scored goal and was credited with an assist, has scored both our league goals this season and had a further assist against Helsinki; an incredible return for a player who three weeks ago was drawing comment on the size of his shorts!

Anyway it’s a moot point – I watched the game in The White Bear , Kennington last night and spent half the game arguing with guys who wanted to berate every single mistake while totally ignoring that , for once in a long time , we were getting the rub of the green in Europe.
Dead chuffed for the bhoys last night but i seem to be suffering for it today .

Btw,Moniaive is just outside of Thornhill,home of a pub-The Farmer’s Arms?,left side of the road as you head South-with the largest collection of malts I have ever seen.
I agree with Paul 67 Commons has played very well so far this season sometimes we are to quick to lose faith in players.Not so long ago on this forum some were calling for Sammi to be shown the door but agin he is performing very well so we should give Kelvin Wilson another seaso to see what he can do and also Mo Bangura more time.H.H.

Kris Commons really looks fitter and happier this season. What exactly WAS going on with him when he did look overweight (for a top footballer) and seriously unhappy?

I am more than happy he’s back on song…..and last night’s goal was a stunner.
Never mind all the downplaying analysis : Sammi hit a crackin’ pass across the field, KC was ther to expertly fire it in like a bouncing bomb….and it was one of those great moments when you go, ” Holy…*****!”
And that’s what you get 5 stars for. Brilliant!
(And Sammi’s goal was a beezer an’ all.)
