Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark all possible for Celtic

Delighted for Aberdeen, winning away from home in Croatia is no mean feat for a Scottish club, but a 0-3 result, anywhere, is a special result.  None of the other 32 away teams could manage so much as a two goal win.

The Inverness defeat on their maiden European performance was pity, if not a surprise.  Winning your home game is regarded as the Cardinal Rule in Europe, but they have a puncher’s chance next week in Romania.  Score the opening goal and it’s anyone’s game.

Today’s draw for the Champions League 3rd round qualifier has the potential to get a bit tasty.  There are plenty of potential opponents from northern Europe with trips to Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark all possible, while Celtic are the only seed from northern Europe.  Hopefully Uefa, in their keenness for geographical neighbourliness, don’t feel the need to send us to Israel, Poland or Serbia.  If we take care of Stjarnan, of course.

    There is a also a documentary about Frankie Miller I think he has put on youtube.

     

     

    There’s a bit in it where Billy Connolly says one of the times Frankie was home, Frankie told Billy he was going to see Celtic then his mother, in that order.

    Leftclicktic, my brother and I were at the home leg of the Basle/Basel game.

     

     

    We missed the first twenty minutes due to the size of the crowd that night, 72,000, ahem, the official gate.

     

     

    We ended up at the fence next to the gap where the wee blue cars for disabled drivers used to come in off Janefield Street.

     

     

    We had a great view of Tommy Callaghan scoring our third goal.

    I reckon that ISIS is a manufactured fear, like they have in the 1984 book, like Al Qaeda was, cos before the 911 thing, I will wager that 99.99% of the people on the planet had never heard of Al Qaeda.

     

     

    See if you bomb the feck out of them, do you honestly think that another Al Qaeda or an ISIS won’t be along soon enough ?

    Neustadt: brilliant tune, thanks. Mary started out with a group called General Humbert, I think. I have the LPs. I love her tunes from late 70s and 80s. Her family albums are also worth listening to. She has strong connections with Rathlin Island (off the North Antrim coast) and I taught her niece a few years ago. A real down-to-earth Dublin family.

    I’m a parent but I can’t even try to understand how he’s feeling after the death of his son Arthur.

     

     

    It’s horrible and makes me shiver just thinking about it.

    He and Davie Hay did the same with wheelchair bound Celtic fans after the 1985 cup final.

     

     

    We all miss Tommy so much but more importantly, not as much as his family.
