The Celtic Park theatre

350

Slightly annoyed at being moved from the Upper North tonight but after experiences of League Cup games at this time of the season against Partick, Falkirk and Morton, it’s probably no bad thing that atmosphere is concentrated up close and personal to the field.  Celtic Park can be an intimidating theatre, but League Cup nights need some crowd management to make it so.

Remember, it’s a 19:15 kick off, so don’t pitch up midway through the second half!

We’re less than three weeks away from the Great Scottish Run and my Celtic Foundation T-shirt has just arrived.  If you are registered to run and would like to raise £125 for the Foundation’s work towards Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty, email them here and they’ll be in touch.

It’s not too late to register for the event itself, which you can do here.

I know the call goes out often, and I know everyone cannot get involved, but the community of Celtic fans is anchored in a tradition of caring for those in need.  We need to continue to tell this story and ensure the message is not lost.  I have a MyDonate page here, if you can help out.

Many thanks.

    ‘Slightly annoyed’ p67??

Wait till you take your seat and find you are flanked by Darwins & kevj!! :)

  2. From the BBC site.

Some stories write their own jokes:-

“Experts are divided over whether Apple should respond to claims that its new iPhone 6 handsets are prone to becoming bent when carried in trouser pockets.

Several members of the public have posted photos to the Macrumors site that appear to show the problem. A reporter for the Geek.com news site also reported his phone had warped.

Other mobiles have bent in the past.”

  3. Are Celtic playing tonight ?:)))

If I had the slightest clue about who Ronny would play, I would pick a wee scorer anytime in 90mins but alas :)))

    Thanks for posting that.

Really emphasises how horrible some outlooks are. The writer unashamedly reveals just how self interested he is.

Why not? If somebody wants to give them the money to do so, it’s at their risk.

How is it any different from raising money to start a new business or expand an existing one?

Or borrowing against your own home? Collateral is collateral. (thumbsup)

Shuggy should be able to take his call as he has been busted previously for writing his player reports loooooong before the first half has ended. Not allegedly ;)

  10. As always, boss the midfield and build from there. Failing to prepare for being overwhelmed in midfield and we’re relying on the majority of the team clicking and running on full cylinders.

Because they are living the debt in the company.

As a result, costs such as wages or investment in the business are driven down, and taxes not paid on the profits.

    So who gains?

    Employees? NAW.

    Customers? NAW.

The country, and its taxpayers, who previously were taking a nice wee divvy via The Treasury?

    Well,that’s another NAW then.

  14. squire danaher,

I would agree with much of what you say. It is a new situation and it remains to be seen how the non SNP Yes voters will behave. I do see many returning to the party they would have voted for in the past, but some will make a protest vote.

In recent times the Scottish electorate has become a lot more sophisticated. Many non nationalists have voted SNP in Scottish elections basing this on plans for and record in government. But in Westminster elections many see the choice of UK government as being basically Tory or Labour and decide how to vote on that basis.

  15. Gordon_J

On your point re. the Red Coats (think you call them Labour)

I disagree with you that many will return to voting for the Red Coats after the referendum. Have you noted the vast increase in SNP, Green and SSP party membership?

IMO the majority of the people I know whoo voted Yes voted in the hope of a change to the current Party Politics and Westminster Criminal neglect of recent years and that includes the New Labour years. The Red Coats were 100% used to front the No campaign on behalf of the three Tory parties who have controlled Westminster since 1997. Scottish Red Coats will see one of their worst results in Scotland come this Genereal Election. I imagine even some on the No side (those swayed by the scaremongering – you’ll call it something nice – but your campiagn leader of No has confirmed it was exactly that) will I believe also take out their retribution on the Scottish Red Coats in turn affecting the WM seats for UK Red Coats here in Scotland. The actual admitted real tories (AKA the Conservative Party) have played an absolute blinder with the referendum leaving it to the Scottish Red Coats and their WM counterpart Red Coats to enact their campaign for them. The Scottish Red Coats and the Scottish contingent of the WM Red Coats have just sold their soals to the devil incararnate.

there will be an increase in Real Tory seats, SNP seats and other seats come the general election. the Red Coats will be unseated in many areas.

My only complaint is that in my constiuency I only have an option not to vote with a choice of a Scottish WM Red Coat in the mould of Jim Murphy (attendance at 53% of WM votes this last year, £180K plus expenses doubling alomost on last years, a wee rental of his london paid for by tax accomodation Jim Murphy) or a unashamed Tory in the form of a Conservative candidate.

Scottish Labour will be in decline for the next few years. There will be an increase in support for parties supporting independence whether they be nationalist, socialist or Green. The 45% who voted Yes will remember that feeling they woke up to. They will remember the conniving scaremongering. they will have witnessed in the interim period more of the Vow of deceptioon and promises being broken over and above those already in question. they will see the lies about the NHS unravel in front of them. they will see the job loses. They will see us go to war again not only in the air but on the ground with troops being readied as we speak (you won’t hear that wee snippet of info articualted at this time). They will see the increase in poverty and the destruction of peoples lives.

The conniving will not be forgotton as eassily as you believe or wishful think for.

Ah it’s ok Jack. Yeah we lied. But you know we are good guys deep down. Now do what your told and shutup.

It ain’t going to work anymore.

If the No campaign had been honest, without Media and big business control, without FEAR then yes you likely would be correct. You also likely would find most people on the Yes side accept the result as the No’s just wish they would. But when you are 45% in face and spite of all that. The opposition really has a major worry on it’s hands.

I do however believe the 45 is fortuantely for you guys devisive. The Yes campaign needs to gather in a positive alliance, one that will reach out to those who know they were lied to and voted out of fear in the face of corporate and political scaremonger and bring them into the fold. It is going to be a fractuaous few years untill Independence!

  19. Philvis – it was run down deliberately as a tactic. Refusing to renegotiate terms with its suppliers forced them to withdraw support. They knew exactly what they were doing on both. The owners walk off with millions, the suppliers now have less competition in the market and the workforce and taxpayers have been stuffed yet again.

  20. The Honest Cover-up on

Is the aim of people wanting to see the Labour Party crushed in Scotland so that we are ruled by the Tories and they can say “I told you so”?

Raw emotion aside I don’t really see the logic in this. Labour are presenting wealth redistrubition policies (maybe not enough granted) in their election manifesto. SNP are not as far as I’m aware.

Was the referendum really about social justice or just separation for this group of Yes voters?

The backlash directed at Labour is one of the reasons many were wary of independence. An unchallenged SNP Government trying to out do the English Tories on business friendly tax cuts was a worrying thought.

As for electing enough SNP Westminster MP’s to declare independence surely it would be more sensible to let the people decide in a straight question referendum. Haven’t we just done that?

I genuinely hope we see a Labour Government who will introduce sensibile wealth redistrubution policies and a federalsied UK. Are most Yes voters opposed to that scenario?

I live in G78 and due to his behaviour on a range of issues will be voting to have Murphy beaten.

Never underestimate the strength of the Real Tory vote elsewhere in the constituency, despite the best efforts of the Chair of the Friends of Israel to ingratiate himself with that section of the electorate.

There is already anti Murphy graffiti up in Barrhead. Murphy can’t afford to lose too many protest votes or he’ll get beat by the Real Tory.

His grasp on the seat is weakened with the defection of every single Red Tory deserter

  24. God knows what team will be picked tonight.

The management have all agreed that it takes time to get new ideas across and for players to gel.

Yet they seem to refuse to allow the players the opportunity to practice and play with each other in games bar European.

And what an appropriate testing ground that is!

Ronny – stop the bulls**tting about – play your strongest team and keep it that way until such time as they understand what the heck you want them to do, because on the glimpses we have had – they are like rabbits in the headlights.

People are totally disillusioned with New Labour on every level.

It’s not just working class people in Scotland.

New Labour are completely out of touch with the people who traditionally vote for them.
