There’s something I’ve never been able to figure out for the last nine years. When Gordon Strachan was announced as Celtic manager, on 1st June 2014, he apologised to the media for bumping their calls the previous week, as he was due to takeover on that date, and the announcement was embargoed until then.
No idea why the news was embargoed, but it was. Tomorrow’s the 1st June. If the same rules hold true now as when Gordon Strachan was appointed, there was little chance of an appointment in late May.
If you’re not going to the CQN 10-in-a-row Charity Golf day on 4 July the Sean’s Trust Charity Dinner is on the same night at the Fullarton Suits, Glasgow. Sean’s Trust is run by the late St John Doyle’s partner, Linda. If you’d like to attend let Lennybhoy know, lennybhoycfc@gmail.com
Let me know if you would like to attend the CQN Question and Answer evening at the Manor Club, Wimbledon, on 21 June, with a confirmed line-up of Lisbon Lion, John Hughes, and our own Brogan Rogan and Auldheid, celticquicknews@gmail.com

GCT.
You have been away too long, the kerrydale entrance is at the Celtic end.HH
Marty
The usual, brill arriving and spending times with my once closest family. Heartbreaking leaving them. Great weather and great company esp BMCUW. :)
Who knows Cults, I think Roy is a good catch and I hope it works out well for everyone. If he actually gets the job, but think about it for a moment ahh another Passionate Celt in charge of the only club that actually matters in World football.
I could get into that.
Hail Hail.
GCT
Entrance is from the Jock Stein stand, just to the left of the building frontage, you need to be there no later than 2hours prior to kick off to guarantee entry even then you are pushing it, for a 3pm I am usually there about 1215 still busy at that time but can normally get a seat.
DD
Good stuff leaving family is never easy, I take it you just had a drink to keep cool
vespacide
I may be doing RK and or Celtic disservice but I feel RK is not a modern manager despite being relatively young….I also question the appeal of Celtic after the European party ends to someone like RK?
Marty
Aye ;))
GNGB
Just don’t get the Roy Keane appointment if true. Have the feeling we’ll be doing all of this again next year.
DD,
Hope ye behaved yourself in England…hehehehe
aiden bhoy,
If the rumours are true, give the man a chance….I will.
We could have the deid clubs manager :))
Well put yourself in his shoes Cults, how do you think you would do after the disappointment of not making the champions League what would be uppermost in your thoughts for Celtic.
Hail Hail
Sipsini,
I don’t think we’ll have to wait beyond tomorrow..
sipsini
Will definetly get behind him . Just can’t see it working out .
I hope it does though Aiden.
Hail Hail.

You never know with a a bit of guidance from a right hand man, RK will do a grand job.HH
Roy Keane now 1/16 with Bet Victor.
I know betting can fluctuate,he’s the new manager unless he rejects it.
My guess is that RK is a smokescreen. More probable for me will be a Jackie Macnamara type appointment.
Sipsini,
It’s the last chance saloon for him.
The title, group stages of the CL and the Scottish Cup and that will do me pal..
Whatever Cults.
Hail Hail.
Cultsbhoy,
If it’s anybody bar Keane at this stage I will be astounded.
There’s more chance of Sipsini getting the gig than McNamara…
And I don’t even know the fella…)

Well it sounds like RK is the man of choice.
I shall of course be like every true Celtic fan and judge him before his team kicks a ball.
I will re tell every tale of past transgressions.
I will scour our Celtic friendly press for every hint of scandal and misbehavior.
I will lambast every signing before the players report to Lennoxtown.
And then when his team waltzes the SPL, sails through the CL qualifiers and into the last 16, I will tell you all how I always had faith in him and Peter to deliver the goods.

Have your say!
ROY Keane remains on course to be named the new manager of Celtic within the next 48 hours as the Scottish champions close in on an agreement with him.
Talks between Celtic and the Republic of Ireland assistant manager are understood to be at an advanced stage with all indications suggesting he will accept the opportunity to succeed Neil Lennon in the role.
Keane, who was formally approached by Celtic’s biggest shareholder Dermot Desmond last week, is expected to make a decision before the Irish squad fly to the USA on Wednesday for two challenge matches against Costa Rica and Portugal.
Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill, speaking after he and Keane oversaw a 0-0 draw with Italy at Craven Cottage on Saturday, said: “I haven’t spoken to him on this matter because we were focused on the game.
“But I’m pretty comfortable about it. It’s not a case of what I want to happen, but I think it will be resolved by Wednesday.
“My assumption is that Celtic are looking at potential candidates. They have [Champions League] games coming up and they will want to make a decision fairly soon.”
Former Celtic manager O’Neill, who recruited Keane as his assistant last November, paid tribute to his efforts in the role.
“We would all be very disappointed if he left,” O’Neill added. “My own view is that he has settled in very well indeed. The players have really taken to him, something I knew would be the case.
“He has been terrific. I think he is really enjoying this experience so it will be a disappointment if he left. The players would love him to stay. But I reiterate that this situation will be resolved before we travel to the United States.”
Celtic hope to confirm Keane’s appointment as soon as possible in order to maximise his preparation time for the new season. The Celtic first team squad are due to return to training in just three weeks’ time, ahead of their first Champions League qualifying tie on 15 or 16 July.
It is understood that Keane has already identified potential candidates to join his backroom staff at the club. Former Celtic striker Brian McClair, who played alongside Keane at Manchester United and is currently head of the Old Trafford club’s youth academy, may be among those considered for the assistant manager’s position.
Keane has been a short-priced, odds-on favourite to become Celtic manager since last week. But Henrik Larsson, who was initially installed as bookies’ favourite when Lennon quit the job ten days ago, remains at the centre of speculation in Sweden linking him with the job.
Now manager of top-flight club Falkenbergs, the former Celtic striker faced weekend questions from reporters over a local report which claimed he had held talks with Parkhead officials who flew into Angelholm Airport, near Helsingborg, on a private jet.
Larsson responded: “Who told you that? I do not know anything either. You can interpret that any way you want.”
The ex-Manchester United and Barcelona player, however, went on to express his enthusiasm at the prospect of becoming Celtic manager and insisting he could be a success in the job.
“It is a fantastic club where I became the player I was,” added Larsson.
“When I got into the coaching profession, I knew the manager’s job would always be associated with me.
“After signing for Celtic, I didn’t know how much the club meant to the people there. I’ve seen managers going to Celtic who thought that it was just another club.
“But it’s more than that. I think I understand what it means to be the manager there and what is expected of you. And I definitely think I’m capable.”
tricoloured ribbon,
HaHa, As the smsm say, anybody could manage Celtic to win the league?
I can’t remember the same print when the huns were winning.
I love the way thems are hurting.
Nice thought gg. Not my choice, but if he’s DDs choice then it’s get behind the manager time. Hope he is successful and becomes a legend.

According to an interview with Aiden McGeady in the Scotsman, Roy Keane will set up home in Edinburgh if and when he takes over at Celtic.
