The gift of focus for Ajax

695

The last minute goal fell Celtic’s way at the weekend but Wednesday’s opponents, Ajax, were on the receiving end of the sucker punch, losing to a last minute goal at home to Vitesse, just a week after a goalless draw at home to joint bottom Waalwijk.  The Dutch champion’s only win in their last five games was at home to lower league opposition six days ago.

So what does this mean for Celtic?  It means Ajax have found various ways not to approach the Celtic game.  The last thing teams need ahead of a crucial game is an easy or flattering result, far better to show up your mistakes.

If Celtic take the lead, we might find Ajax confidence sinks rapidly, but they will approach the game full of focus, dangerous and with a point to prove.

It’s Christmas time…….

The Celtic FC Foundation (new name for Celtic Charity) Christmas Appeal has been launched.  The 125 Anniversary activities have considerably reenergised the Celtic Movement in getting back to where is all started – looking after those in need.

The Christmas Appeal aims to provide 150 local families who would otherwise go without, a Christmas meal, with gifts for younger kids.

The Celtic support will be helping people through Glasgow East Women’s Aid, Spirit Aid, the Glasgow Simon Community, Loaves and Fishes, The Wayside Club, Glasgow City Mission and Lodging House Mission.

Details of how to help online, and in person, are available here.

Offensive Behaviour Act

Scottish Parliament Justice Committee convenor, Christine Grahame, has agreed to discuss an Early Review of the Act on the agenda for tomorrow’s Justice Committee meeting.  Three members of the Committee are already committed to a Review, details on how to contact others on the committee – it has to be today, they meet tomorrow – are available here, on the Trust website.

    Excellent posts, both.

My stance, that they’re dead and I’d never welcome them back at C.P., has been tempered a wee bit. A tiny bit.

It centres around the old club / new club debate ( never boring ).

In the past we have welcomed into our league system Annan, Elgin, Gretna, Peterhead, Ross County. In theory, there’s no ostensible reason why we shouldn’t welcome this most recent entrant…

If, however, we hear even the slightest hint of a sectarian utterance from them, hear of any suggestion of financial jiggery-pokery or witness any threats, intimdation or rabble-rousing, then we should move for immediate expulsion.

I think I’m suggesting we give them enough rope with which to hang themselves. But I’m not convinced the S.F.A., or Celtic, would have the mettle for the required follow-up action.

It begins, therefore, with an unequivocal statement from ALL of Scottish Football, that this is a New Club, and their membership is subject to a probationary period.

Then we’ll take it, cautiously, from there.

Tbh,not sure because of the crowd problems, but football traffic aside, there should be fewer vehicles on the road that day.

As I said, nothing dramatic but wondered if there was a send or receive issue with either of our emails.

I wonder if any of our resident music experts could put the words of the mantra to music

“It’s not about the rangers it’s about the SFA

It’s not about bashing the Celtic board it’s all about fair play”

  8. Celtic Will be playing Newco Rangers, maybe this Season in the Cup, maybe next Season in a Cup – maybe the Season after in the League…

Now when we do I’ll want us to win that game even more than the last game we played against Oldco Rangers.

I posted sometime ago that the reality of the situation is that although Rangers went bust and a new Club took their place they Will be looked on as the same Team.

De Jure ~ Rangers FC were replaced by new Club.

This accurate view Will be supported and forwarded by Scottish Football fans without an allegience to the Rangers brand. But in my view the victories already extracted Will be as much as we’ll get.

De Facto – Old Rangers and New Rangers are the same Club.

This inaccurate view Will be supported by the press both in Scotland and England, The TV stations especially, STV, SKY, BBC. Football fans outwith Scottish Football supporters without an axe to grind re; cheating and corruption.

The SFA, SFPL, UEFA, ECA silence on the matter Will ensure tacit approval of this view.

Then when are playing Newco regularly the ones holding the view that they are different Clubs Will be see at best as King Canutes at worst bitter bigots.

Can’t see it any other way.

The only light on the horizon is they are very likely to go through Anadministration event quite soon and reality means ot Will be yeats before any Rangers Team is a force in Scottish Football.

The main reason I refuse to accept they are the same club is that if they are, the game is a bogey.

If you can cheat to the extent they did, corrupt football’s administration all the way to UEFA, foment an atmosphere in which an opposition manager, players and even high-profile supporters are subjected to death threats, drive yourself into administration and liquidation out of a refusal to live within your means and emerge relatively unscathed, it’s time to find a new obsession.

Do we have a correspondent on hand to watch the cup draw live and report for those of us not in front of a TV?

If you pre book the taxi for say 4.35 at the Emirates Arena car park you’ll get a taxi no bother and be at the airport for around 5. Leave it another 10 mins and you will be struggling.
