The great United reunion, signing backup keepers

1109

Ronny Deila’s dream of reconstructing the Dundee United team of 2014 is on track as United have agreed terms for the sale of striker Nadir Ciftci, who is set to join Stuart Armstrong and Gary MacKay-Steven in green and white hoops.

United are feeling sore at losing three players to a rival but it could be argued this deal is a positive result for them.  They are no different than Celtic in needing to acquire good players who will enhance their team and generate transfer fees when they leave.

Armstrong and Mackay-Steven gave Celtic a timely boost when they arrived in the team in February.  If Ciftci adapts as quickly he’ll do well.

Signing a backup goalkeeper is a tricky call.  Do you blow a large slice of budget on a genuine contender for the goalkeeper’s jersey, or perhaps promote the next teenage David Marshall?  Both are viable calls.  If we sign Logan Bailly (29) for a fee from Belgian club Leuven the expectation at Lennoxtown is that he will push Craig Gordon.

That would leave us with competition across the field, apart from the left back slot…..

Unless Odegaard is the second coming of Jimmy Johnstone and George Best combined I really don’t see why were after a 16 year old……..on loan!

  2. Hope we Get the young Guy from Real,..Norwegian International at 16…How Many of our Youngsters Could Get into Our Countrys Team…..None…luv to see him at CP..

  3. Cannot see Real Madrid allowing a valuable young asset to play on cow fields against a lot of sanctioned hackers?

If he does come i would be delighted.

Though the football administrators here will probably call a secret meeting of the refereeing brotherhood to introduce the parameters the hatchet men can use on him.

Short of actual removing limbs no cards will be seen.

  4. Robert Tressel – Vdubt25 is the best sports on Kodi IMO. I’ve used Pheonix as well and it’s ok.

Neither are a Sky replacement as far as I am concerned due to the unreliability.

    Vintage67,

You’re right, of course, about the perennial shout of “sack the Board” from the Celtic support . . . The saddest day I can remember at Celtic Park was when the bulk of the support booed Fergus . . .

This was flag day after stopping the run to ten in a row? I don’t remember it on the day but then I was watching on CelticTV overseas. The clips I have seen since suggest it was in fact a small amount, not the bulk booing Fergus.

And I bet he was expecting it!

A man as bright in business as Fergus would realize that some folk are never happy, are never satisfied, can never be pleased and will always find something to complain about.

The Celtic organization has never been as well run as it is now!

And that is the legacy of Fergus McCann!

    God bless the man!

Roberttressel, install sports devil addon for live sports channels and/or football replays add-on for later watching. Under video there should be a box saying addons. You should find them there or you can YouTube how to get them. I’ve found getting a working skysports 1 to be hard sometimes but other channels always available. Hope this helps. Hail Hail

I noticed on your link to CQN magazine @ 12.00 re the story of Billy McNeill donating his medals to Celtic that Billy’s background was “partly Irish, partly Lithuanian”. Now I have read of the Lithuanian connection before but never the Irish one, what is the connection?

    H.M.R.C. APPEAL

Did I hear right on the B.B.C. T.V. 6.30. news, when their football ‘pundit’ Brian McLaughlan in his report on to-day’s H.M.R.C. Appeal, said that, whatever the result , it would have no effect on the present Rangers club as these were the acts of a club which has been liquidated. This seems to mean that the B.B.C.- as represented by their football ‘pundit’- believes in two ‘Rangers’ , one which was liquidated and one which exists now. Would one of our legal pundits please help me.

  16. Celtic have apparently won the race for the loan signature of the most promising youngster in world football. According to Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato, the Hoops have beaten off competition from a number of Spanish clubs to secure the loan signing of Real Madrid youngster Martin Ødegaard, 16. Celtic boss Ronny Deila gave Ødegaard his Stromsgodset debut at the tender age of 15 and previously tried to sign him on a permanent deal before Ødegaard opted to join Madrid for reportedly £80,000 per week

He has creativity as does Commons,McKay Stevens,Johansen and Armstrong.

Biton .Brown and young Henderson add steel and Jainko and Ambrose can also play there.

Doncaster’s worry about 38 games being too much for premiership clubs competing in Europe, Scottish cup and league cup as well as players out on international duty is easily resolved. Go back to a top 10 league. Not any worse than we have just now. Saves 2 games. No daft split. Simple.

So, any expert(s) in this area……

If they win their appeal, what’s to stop HMRC demanding (via the Courts) that BDO be instructed to now complete the liquidation of Rangers FC by seizing the liquidated assets for the creditors, HMRC being a major one ….!!?? ….. or will that have to wait until the Fraud Squad have completed their investigation into Charles Green’s ‘illegal’ purchase of ipox, and subsequent renting of it to sevco for £278k per month…..!!??

    10 team premiership.

Play each other 4 times = 36 games.

Bottom team goes into play off final with top team in championship.

Winner in 1 off final plays in premiership.

We can even change rules for 1st round of league cup to ensure 10 in premiership get bye.

Oh wait! That disnae help sevco. Back to the drawing board.
