The Men who sold the Jerseys, Geordie-hostility-feeder

889

Congratulations to Mark Daly and the BBC production team behind The Men who sold the Jerseys, who received the award from the Royal Television Society for Best regions current affairs and news event for their documentary into the goings-on in the years before Rangers descended into liquidation.  They won against Grananda’s Hillsborough – The Truth At Last, which centred on a hugely important human and political story, which illustrates the standard of achievement.

Television journalist of the year

Congratulations also to Alex Thomson, of Chanel 4 News, “one of the UK’s leading correspondents. With a portfolio of coverage from Syria to door stepping Kelvin Mackenzie over Hillsborough, to Glasgow Rangers, he displays great range and versatility with a knack for finding strong angles and compelling stories. He brings real authority and storytelling skills to whatever he covers.”

Thomson is a game changer.  Never has a UK journalist had so many people wanting him to stop asking questions, including many in his own industry.  Fortunately he appears to be some kind of Geordie-hostility-feeder.

Good journalism is important. Well done to the winners and those in their support teams.

  1. If only we could harness Ernie and Phylvis power we could export enough bullshit to the rest of the world to fire up a million methane driven generating stations and still have enough ozone destroying fumes left over to melt the polar caps on the earth, Europa and the frozen wastes of fear that seem to inhabit their lily livers.

A couple of big fearties who I wouldn’t want looking after my back in a scrap. They’d be selling my plans to the enemy for thirty pieces of silver and a royal estate.

Bit like the parcel of rogues of 1707 treachery.

Their genetic blueprint should be displayed in every biology class as a warning of what happens when you cuckold goats.

    Italian bureaucracy?!

    Don’t get me started.

I will be honest and say ‘tho that I have not had MANY major problems – just lucky I guess.

I have had dual British-Italian nationality since 1986. At the time I was resident in Scotland.

On my Italian national ID card and my Italian passport it clearly states that my place of birth is – Greenock, Scotland, Great Britain.

Maybe the point I am trying to make is the fact that (very) many Italians when talking of the UK refer to ‘Inghilterra’ – England. They just do not seem to get the concept that England is just one, albeit major, part of a nation called the United Kingdom of…..

Annoys me tremendously, and I have had countless arguments with Italians as I sometimes vainly try to explain all this to them.

Great to see you back on the blog, old thing.

A tad unfair to goats, though. Did you know goat’s milk has 30% less cholesterol than cow’s milk and that fully 6% of all the weans in Brazil at the moment have an allergy to cow’s milk anyway? I found these things out this morning on the train.

    No clues.

Nope-Lesotho is also mountainous so can develop its own Hydro Electric scheme.

I will give you a clue -north of Lesotho

The roots of Scottish Nationalism run deep, very deep, precede the creation of the Scottish National Party, and I predict will survive long after Alex Salmond is gone. I have stated on here that I do not consider that the SNP has a mandate for Independence, they would need fifty MPs for that, but consider the delivery of a referendum a considerable political achievement. By any standards. The Labour Party in Scotland has long forgotten its’ historical roots and has now re-invented itself as the Scottish Unionist Party, with little to distinguish itself from the old one. It is not a pretty sight, being part of a movement which includes UKIP, and the Rump, otherwise known as the Scottish Tories. Rightly derided as the “bitter thegither” campaign. There is a great ongoing debate going on, mainly in the Glasgow Herald it has to be said, and no doubt it will feature heavily on these pages over the next eighteen months, and rightly so. Let us keep the insults to a minimum.

  22. This Government aid for India malarky…. it can used for “defence” purposes which is bad enough, but presumably with a stipulation that British defence companies such as BAE are the beneficiaries.

Is this not a state subsidy? We, the tax payers, fund arms-making which benefits BAE shareholders and India.

On THIS Thread (the one at the top of this page) at 12:36 on page 1 – is that clear enough for you?

It was YOU who started talking about Nationalism on THIS thread. No one else.

    The Third? Bawsman

I post once or twice a month on the subject with you it is EVERY DAY. Dare I say it you sound obsessed (flavour of the month word)

I posted an article THIS morning on the PREVIOUS blog for the consideration of anyone who was interested (there was no obligation to read it and that was why I only produced a link so as not to clog the blog so to speak).

Who was the first person to answer that? YOU.

Quite frankly it is like you’re waiting to jump down anyone’s throat who dare post anything but I knew you would.

I responded to your predictable and usual smear job name calling on the LAST thread and thought it finished at that.

Then as usual you went into overdrive on THIS thread with multiple posts against any poster who discussed it or brought out a reasonable argument.
