There is a team in this squad but defending for buttons

895

Of all the football nonsense, I hate scapegoating most.  So Ryan, I’m sorry, but what on earth were you doing?  We were 0-2 ahead and had created several other very good chances.  Milan were nowhere, they had not mustered a cohesive attack. That foul was conceded in the perfect spot for a free kick taker; you could read the script on how momentum would switch the moment it was awarded.

Attackers are primarily there to exploit opponents weaknesses, Tom Rogic, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie combined to do this and put Celtic two ahead in the San Siro.  Tom came close on another occasion, Callum McGregor had a gilt-edged chance and having got himself into the perfect position, Jeremie Frimpong froze with Milan at his mercy.  We could have been out of sight.

There is a team in this squad.  The formation looked right.  Frimpong seemed liberated from his normal wide anchor, Rogic worried defenders before tiring; in particular, I was impressed by the way the ball was accurately bulleted across the field.

Oh, and we cannot defend for buttons.  I was chastised by a 16-year-old after the game for talking up the relative merits of this performance compared to Ross County.  Apparently there is a rulebook for defending two goal leads away to tier one teams, you defend like Ross County and close the game out.  But we don’t know how to defend like Ross County.  Imagine that!

What I will say is, they fought for their manager last night, Commando Christie in particular.

  1. I tell you. We are at each others throats at times but Dandans post brings it home.

For all our issues on & off the park it would be great if this really sorry episode gave our support a bit of a reality check.

I bought a bottle of Efe beer from my Local Home Bargain Store for about 1:30 and was :

    a) Pleasantly surprised at the quaity;

    B) Surprised again that it is, apparently, a Turkish beer.

Is good beer common in Turkey??

So good for you to share your experience even though it possibly revisited your pain.

I hope I never have that experience, but if I do, please repost what you said as I’m sure it would provide hope.

While Manchester United have a similar problem to us. Fan favourite as manager who is clearly struggling but the support is torn on whether they want to criticize a legend and the board are reluctant to sack him.

If Ole wasn’t an ex-player, (firstly, he wouldn’t have got the job) he’d probably have been sacked by now.

BY the way I posted the top ten shareholders either on the last blog or the one before that, and if you go back and look at it, you’ll dicover that the top 3 shareholders have aroud 51per cent of the vote beteen them and if they all vote together ,then the rest of the shareholders havn’t any say in what they are voting for

*Allegedly DD wanted him but was swayed by the sharp suited man who wanted tae create the Tony Perkins scene in Psycho, unfortunately for us our team replaced Norma and we are now a replica of the side that ran amok in our home and native land.

Agreed. He was never an elite manager and the United job was far too big for him but he’s a very good manager who has made bad career choices.

He’s found his level now with West Ham and doing a very good job.

  17. HS-let me paint you a picture. Its about 80degrees, you’ve been a long lovely walk along the beach and you have acquired a thirst.up ahead is my favourite pub (The captains table). You go in and they bring you out a big fat blue bottle of efe with a glass that feels like it’s been in the freezer for a week. Then you sit looking out onto the beach thinking this is the life.

It might taste just as good sitting on my couch but I doubt it😉

Not sure that’s fair though. He took over from Slaven Bilic when they were a complete mess. He was brought in to keep them up and he did it but they let him go as they wanted a more “glamorous” appointment.

He might be looking for assurances that the club are fully behind him for the long-term before he commits.

  19. LETS ALL-Only ever been to marmaris so will take your word for it😉

I remember going to the old Albany Hotel in Glasgow when Fergus was initially meeting with supporters.

It’s such a pity that his dream of a supporter owned football hasn’t been achieved.

It’s a real shame he chose to sell his main block of shares direct to Dermot.

To think that supporters have probably put in over a £1 Billion pounds as well to finance the club, and yet supporters don’t have any proper democratic say in how the club is not good, is not good.

Hopefully things will change for the better soon.

Best of luck with your hospital appointment. I was due a colonoscopy sometime next week but due to the hospital (Stoke) being overrun with covid it’ll be whenever. Disappointed and concerned as the NHS adverts are pushing people to get a check if they’ve got symptoms.

    Re the shares and voting

My father in law died, leaving his shares to be split between his family.

They are all eligible to attend the AGM and vote, with the votes allocated on the number of shares they hold. No need to register. The share transfer process added names to the list automatically.

One member, one vote would allow my wife and sisters to outvote me 4 to one despite the number of shares I hold being equal to their combined shareholding.

So the Celtic AGM would mirror married life perfectly. Outvoted 4 to 1 every time.:)
