There is a team in this squad but defending for buttons

Of all the football nonsense, I hate scapegoating most.  So Ryan, I’m sorry, but what on earth were you doing?  We were 0-2 ahead and had created several other very good chances.  Milan were nowhere, they had not mustered a cohesive attack. That foul was conceded in the perfect spot for a free kick taker; you could read the script on how momentum would switch the moment it was awarded.

Attackers are primarily there to exploit opponents weaknesses, Tom Rogic, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie combined to do this and put Celtic two ahead in the San Siro.  Tom came close on another occasion, Callum McGregor had a gilt-edged chance and having got himself into the perfect position, Jeremie Frimpong froze with Milan at his mercy.  We could have been out of sight.

There is a team in this squad.  The formation looked right.  Frimpong seemed liberated from his normal wide anchor, Rogic worried defenders before tiring; in particular, I was impressed by the way the ball was accurately bulleted across the field.

Oh, and we cannot defend for buttons.  I was chastised by a 16-year-old after the game for talking up the relative merits of this performance compared to Ross County.  Apparently there is a rulebook for defending two goal leads away to tier one teams, you defend like Ross County and close the game out.  But we don’t know how to defend like Ross County.  Imagine that!

What I will say is, they fought for their manager last night, Commando Christie in particular.

  1. Three minutes into the game and the unbiased BBC offers this forensic analysis:

`Rangers (sic), in white, are already pressing the home side back, winning all of the second balls in midfield and moving the ball quickly on the slick surface.`

  2. Ross County looking solid at the back and couple of threatening situations on the break. Sevco not offering much.

Good save from McGregor followed by a dominant punch out, Sevco break and take the lead.

Don’t underestimate the importance of a decent keeper.

  3. Geebee – you are absolutely correct a good safe keeper breeds confidence throughout the team especially the defence.

Exactly and it was the difference between Sevco going in 1-0 down and 1-0 up at the break.

    Big jimmy..

Regarding caravans, are their not different laws in Scotland compared to other parts of the uk?.

    ………………..

NO, as far as I was aware from 2003 to 2006….Site owners are protected under UK Laws.

It may have changed since 2006, but somehow I doubt it ?

Sadly for me, I didnt do my homework until I was considering selling in 2006, although ” certain” Law and Conditions favouring Site Owners did come to my attention, whilst I owned the Caravan…I found out quite a lot in the three years that I owned one, but by then I had already paid out 25 Grand for the new Caravan, and approx another 5 Grand in Total for a Shed from Ireland ( Cost was £300), Decking, and all other accessories including ” Electrics”” for the shed, and outside lighting etc etc….The Shed was a MUST, as there was NO room in the new Caravan for a Freezer or Washing Machine etc.I still have a copy of UK Laws in relation to caravans and the Siting thereof…somewhere in my house.

  9. SEAN THORNTON…

Ive just remembered that maybe 5 or 6 years ago, an MP stood up in the UK Parliament and seriously questioned the UK Laws governing Caravans and Sites etc, and was he was seeking changes to the UK Laws, due to those Laws seriously favouring Site Owners, while leaving the Public at the mercy of these Site Owners etc.

I dont know IF changes were made, but I would strongly suggest that anyone thinking about buying a caravan and placing it on a Site SHOULD do there homework ONLINE, before handing over any cash ?

I wish that I had went Online BEFORE handing over the cash.

  10. Just like to add my appreciation and admiration of Sid1888,

I’m sure if DanDan lurks and reads it, he will appreciate it & benefit from the advice.

Any know if another protest planned for St. Johnstone today? Seen snippets on Twitter that something seems to be up.

  12. For those of you waiting on the Huns imploding .

They won’t lose 14 goals in the league .

Never mind dropping 6 points more than we will between now and the league being won .

We’ll need seven points from nine in the head-to-heads then match them stride for stride from now until the end of the season…..

Where would you put your money?

  14. Another good result for der Hun- We have to take care of our own games meantime.

You used to be able to rely on St. Johnstone turning up and being defensive and agricultural but not today. Under Callum Davidson they have experimented with being a bit more attack minded and they will certainly smell blood.

Ir’s up to us , no matter what the team selection, to put them away decisively until such time as the Huns do slip up and prove TT wrong.

I have no doubts that thwy will slip up and sooner than we think BUT my confidence in our ability to start and keep a winning run going is what undermines my confidence.

Time to start proving me wrong today.

It was also thought Zombies would kick on last December after the winter break…they didn’t. Not saying they will implode this year but they will drop points along the way. It’s up to Celtic whether they can take advantage going forward and get at least 6/9 in remaining head to heads.

Celtic need tunnel vision. One game at a time starting with 3 pts today and hopefully a clean sheet.

  16. Today’s starting line up v St Johnstone …

Barkas Frimpong Ajer Jullien Bitton Laxalt Christie Brown McGregor Rogic Edouard

Subs: Bain Taylor Ntcham Soro Klimala Griffiths Turnbull ElHamed Elyounoussi

  17. I really hope they will drop points but its hard to see right now. Maybe with crowds back they might get a bit nervous. Lets hope so.

We need a good win today.

  18. Forget about the Huns, we can do nothing about their results against the rest of the SPFL.

It’s all about Celtic, winning all their games up to the January window, then get in a decent Keeper & bolster the defense,

Then we chase down the Hun & put them under pressure.

    No Ajeti?

  20. Just the one change from Thursday with Jullien in for Elhamed and, presumably, Bitton moving over to right back? Hopefully I’ve assumed correctly and it’s 4-4-2 . Thursday’s Man Of the Match, Frimpong, earned that award as he had a defender behind him (even if Elhamed didn’t have the best of games!)

Now I’ve never met the guy and know little about him.

That said, IMHO he comes across as a pretty repulsive individual.
