They want to get rid of him

730

‘They’ want to get rid of him.  Not all of them, by any measure, I’ve seen Neil Lennon welcomed as an old friend by some whose allegiances lie a long way from Celtic Park, but to some he represents an opportunity to indulge in the kind of prejudice which was once widely accepted in Scotland.

In this instance I’m not talking about the idiot football fans, there are lots of idiot football fans, just waiting for an opportunity to present their credentials.  You can meet them wearing any colours.  The people who showed their true colours today were in charge of stewarding guests at Tynecastle – and Neil Lennon was a guest.

It’s a horrible place.  The day the flats are built cannot come soon enough. I expect a robust response from Aberdeen, as well as life bans. I expect nothing from Hearts.

    You take care.

Maybe he chose not to answer the question because the question didn’t merit a response?

I was perhaps clumsily referring to the fact that many on here would support an independent united Ireland as god given right. A proposal I would support (but on the basis of the right of self-determination).

I find it very strange that those who would support this proposition would deny the same to the peoples of Scotland.

I am a socialist not by nature a nationalist. However the case for independence is strong and should not just be based on the basis of economics but on democratic principles. You can be assured of getting the government you vote for.

I do not believe that the SNP are anti-Catholic (I am sure my good friend Michael Matheson would not be a member of a party that was). I will however not necessarily vote for the SNP in an independent Scotland but for a party that sets out an agenda to reduce inequality in wealth, opportunity and health.

‘Some’ is somewhat vague. I don’t blame the British Crown for Ernie being Ernie, but I do believe, rightly or wrongly, a lot of todays ills lived day in and day out in the west, and rest, of Scotland, can be placed at the Crown.

History tends to lend my conclusion credence.

If you have an alternative theory, I’d love to hear it.

  4. e=mc2

Ernie is Michael Kelly. (His support of the old board White/Kelly is evidence to that effect)

If somebody chooses to come on here and indulge malicious innuendo as a basis to his posting at the cost of another’s reputation, then that person would be an absolute hypocrite if he bleated because his malicious posting were reciprocated with even more malicious responses.

Which in base English means, if he likes to throw shit, then he best enjoy it when I throw it back, because I will and I won’t ever tire of doing so.

I’m sure you now know where I am coming from. Was what I responded with crass, you throw crass at a poster, then don’t feckin bleat when you get it back. And I have not even started yet.

  6. Kitalba, you would be better served by reading a history book and drawing your own conclusions instead of asking me. Blame my vagueness on not wishing to inflict more drivel on you.

Big countries invade and do bad things to small countries. Ireland would have invaded Britain had the roles been reversed.

  7. Oh and I play within Paul’s rules too and I don’t send him any whingeing emails when somebody has a bad word to say about me.

If they say it on here, I’ll respond on here, just like I don’t think this is the platform for Pat Nevin to make his confession… the BBC is.

  8. Kitalba, if you attribute some of today’s ills to the crown, will you also attribute some of today’s good things to the crown?

  9. bigchipsuk-the persistent booking of Celtic players for the same “offence” as other players get a pass on,should be highlighted and challenged at every opportunity.HH

  10. John O’Neil:

Credit where credit is due. So when are the British Crown going to arrest those British soldiers and charge them with all those murders in Derry? Or Gibraltar?

Or does Britain still have a capital punishment none of us are grown up enough to sanction?

Your message to ernie lynch (above) is completely out of order.

If it does not have a bearing on the share price, Celtic PLC will accommodate bigotry.

Great insightful post. I agree yesterday was not anti catholic. It was anti Lennon and probably anti Celtic.

Great being a clever Tim, eh? I love it!

  23. Kitalba,

It wasn’t just the British who murdered people without trial in the North of Ireland.

    Good luck to you.

    A clever Tim? I’ll accept that .

Last night I was very angry with what happened – today I’m still angry but cooled down a bit. I have no magic bullets to change those things which stain this country I love . But I do fear for it and my beloved Celtic.

  26. Scrolling back I read the Idiot Post of the Year – something to the effect that it was the British connection that fuelled bigotry here in Scotland. Well, if you think it’s bad now, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Just wait for independence day and we’ll get bigotry in spades – ‘part of the fabric of our nation’ and all that. And don’t forget our friends in the Northern Ireland unionist community – according to fat Salmond they are ‘flesh of our flesh and bone of our bone’. Did you know that?

    ==

Perhaps if someone were to define what is meant by Scots independence it would help. Perhaps you can answer why the Scots as an integral part of the British Empire and thus responsible for the subjugation of tens of millions of people should be afforded the right of self determination when they have denied it to so many for so long. Remember a empire still celebrated in Scotland.

Perhaps if the Scots had been subjected to centuries of occupation and oppression and ethnic cleansing many could understand their call for independence. But therein lies the problem Scots independence is based on greed the same greed that drove it to align itself with England. However now there is no money left in the imperial bank the Scots Nats want to ‘divorce’ themselves from the remainder of the UK in order to keep ‘their’ resources. All I have heard as an argument is ‘ I want to ensure my children’s future and well being’ and a persuasive argument it is but one based on greed and a F you the rest of the UK I am ok philosophy.

Comparing Irelands fight for independence to Scotland’s request for a divorce, or self determination as you put it, is like comparing rape to consensual sex.
