They want to get rid of him

730

‘They’ want to get rid of him.  Not all of them, by any measure, I’ve seen Neil Lennon welcomed as an old friend by some whose allegiances lie a long way from Celtic Park, but to some he represents an opportunity to indulge in the kind of prejudice which was once widely accepted in Scotland.

In this instance I’m not talking about the idiot football fans, there are lots of idiot football fans, just waiting for an opportunity to present their credentials.  You can meet them wearing any colours.  The people who showed their true colours today were in charge of stewarding guests at Tynecastle – and Neil Lennon was a guest.

It’s a horrible place.  The day the flats are built cannot come soon enough. I expect a robust response from Aberdeen, as well as life bans. I expect nothing from Hearts.

Following the allegations of spitting and missiles being directed at Celtic manager Neil Lennon at Tynecastle this afternoon, an AFC spokesperson commented.

“The support we enjoyed at Tynecastle was absolutely fantastic and helped to create an incredible atmosphere that the manager and players acknowledged played a major part in what was wonderful day and occasion for Aberdeen Football Club.

“However, it would appear that a tiny minority within the Main Stand behaved in a manner that is completely unacceptable and has absolutely no place in football and we would urge anyone who has any information as to the identity of those responsible to get in touch with the Club in order that appropriate action can be taken.”

We play Aberdeen in the Scottish cup next week, he was watching them.

As the manager of Celtic he should be able to go to any ground in his country to watch any team without question or prejudice, a common event for managers up and down the length of the UK without taking that sort of shit!!

  5. I switched on my tablet, onto cqn and immediately into a new thread, 3rd place podium! BUT……

I have been out for hours and had no idea of what happened to Neil.

What is it with some people? What has this man done?

All clubs have followers who others object to but this incident is not a nuanced one nor subjective. It’s a clear case of assault by coin, spittle and verbal abuse. Criminal acts. And police and stewards are responsible for what exactly?

We have knowledge of police taking no action but being ready to respond to video information…you don’t need a police force to do that! Wonder if they can do a proper police job like…..investigate for example or heaven forfend intervene and prevent!

Unlike some posters suggestions I don’t brand all clubs on the basis of what a “few” of their followers get up to. I hope and expect Aberdeen FC to rise to the challenge.

The Hearts as an organisation appears riddled by the lunatic subset not only within their fan base but actually within the organisation of the club. The treatment afforded our manager at that location has been nothing short of a complete disgrace for at least 4 years. I do however expect Hearts FC to rise to occasion much as they did the evening of the assault…. that is to the same height as a snakes belly from the ground.

    I AM NEIL LENNON!

Aberdeen should Know who got tickets for that area in main stand – sure they will have a computerised ticketing system ? should be easy then to start talking to those in that area , or is that too simple

PS -TBJ so your settled in Goa :-)

  9. The atmos next week should be fantastic.

By that time of course we will have seen both the SFA and the Scottish Government initiate an investigate of the incident today at tynecastle.

Hopefully some of those involved will be identified. I, unlike some on here, am not in a position to pass judgement. I think the word is ‘prejudice’. That said you are correct to lay much of the responsibility at those who were trusted, or should that more accurately be ‘entrusted’, to host a League Cup Semi-Final.

I do feel sorry for our manager.

All the abuse that he has had to put up with.

    It just isn’t right.

  14. Aberdeen is a village and the support today a small proportion of the AFC fans within the village. Living in Aberdeen I would say most of the folk are decent. It won’t be long before the guilty are identified.

Something that seems to got lost in all this shit…

Neil Lennon had the balls to stand up and state publicly he suffered from Depression.

He is and should be an inspiration to people.

Instead he gets treated like this by fuckwits and a mainstream media only too happy to comply and get offl on demonising the guy.

Very good point regarding young Celtic fans who are unable to financially defend themselves against an abysmal piece of legislation which criminalises the singing of a political song. If the the PLC want to protect their shareholders interests then their customer base must be top of their priority. Bad management Pedro.

Celtic must protect Neil from this crap. Stop taking tickets for away games until it is clear we have had enough. No More.

Our Board need to wait for confirmation from another source, then they need to do more than make a STATEMENT

  21. The sooner we can get out of this league the better. Hope the rumours on here about playing somewhere else are true. Leave the rest of them to it.

  22. Can I urge a bit of caution here. I think spiers comments are being taken out of context. I also think Aberdeen have made a statement there which makes sense and is the right tone.m

I don’t want us to look like those on FF.

  24. Just in from a good day out in Glasgow. Pickg up on this story and am very angry. The lily livered statement from AFC needs to be addressed, what a shower of shitebags!

when will this demonisation of our manager end?

Every time the Presbyterian fuckwits amongst our fellow Scotsmen see a chance to give the NO campaign a boost, they step up to the mark. What a shower of arseholes.

My language is intemperate and out of character, and no wonder. Celtic have no option other than to take this all the way.
