They want to get rid of him

730

‘They’ want to get rid of him.  Not all of them, by any measure, I’ve seen Neil Lennon welcomed as an old friend by some whose allegiances lie a long way from Celtic Park, but to some he represents an opportunity to indulge in the kind of prejudice which was once widely accepted in Scotland.

In this instance I’m not talking about the idiot football fans, there are lots of idiot football fans, just waiting for an opportunity to present their credentials.  You can meet them wearing any colours.  The people who showed their true colours today were in charge of stewarding guests at Tynecastle – and Neil Lennon was a guest.

It’s a horrible place.  The day the flats are built cannot come soon enough. I expect a robust response from Aberdeen, as well as life bans. I expect nothing from Hearts.

Exactly bud. The man Lennon should be revered as an inspiration to the nation. He inspires my family though, The Celtic Family.

“The problem with refusing a ticket for Tynecastle is that you are penalised and shoved down the list for subsequent games.”

How does that work? The Celtic website says hearts handle sales of their own tickets. Celtic not involved. How does Celtic know who accepted or declined a ticket?

@GrahamSpiers: Celtic fans are asking me on here: ‘Come on, tell us why Neil Lennon attracts abuse?’ Answer: has it not been bloody obvious for years?

I think Spiers values his safety, and is telling us why, above…….what he would like to say is “because he is Irish, and Roman Catholic…

  5. Ignore Spiers and his apologist monkeys. Aberdeen FC are up to their neck in this, the SFA likewise. This is blatant sectarianism if claims are true, lets maximise this and leave all the surname sect to rot in thir own wee cesspit.

  6. I have long wanted us to get outta Dodge.

But I wonder, when we move to different league (inherently a better league) and given the HUN ain’t known for doing Jealousy well

I wonder about the safety of your everyday, living in Scotland with it’s tendency towards hurting those they fear or are jealous of, Celtic supporter?

Anyone else given any thought to that or am I cynical

  7. On the leaving for another league.

Bad news on that front I have been told, it seems that some sort of British Cup is in the offing, this I reckon is what winning captains was hinting at when he said Lenny leading his team out elsewhere. I paraphrase.

  12. For years I’ve been going to Pittodrie and sat in the main and Dick Donald stand, I have never encountered any abuse even though many around us suspected some of in our group were Celtic fans.

But like every club they have their idiots, but as Paul has alluded to Hearts FC have a lot to answer for here.

Neil Lennon is a an absolute legend and a Celtic great.

His strength of character is remarkable.

    Neil Lennon is our leader.

    Thanks mate .

I also respect others decisions to attend these games , but I’m a stubborn git and I need to make this stand . My eldest is 16 and he’s going to the game , we’ve had many a discussion about this but I respect his decision to attend these games and the away games he attends and he ( grudgingly ) accepts mine for not attending .

Open the the whole ground next Saturday and make a statement they we’re not having anti Irish racism anymore which is what it is. Make it an event Celtic. We’ve had enough of this. Defend us. What Neil experienced today is our daily life in Scotland…..BTW I bought two adults and one kids ticket for £35. HH.

We should be demanding arrests under the sectarianism law..

When something happens to a manager in the EPL, for example, gettin sacked or resigning thru pressure of the job, the first thing you see is a stream of interviews with other managers in the league, usually supporting the recipient of said job loss…..

What Neil Lennon has been put thru today is worse…. There is no question, wether he has deserved it or not….he hasn’t.

I will wait with baited breath for the condemnation from Neil’s fellow managers about the events at Tynecastle today.

I would hope all Celtic men, women and children are behind Lenny. He is the public victim of what we have all suffered in Scotland’s dirty wee sectarian secret.

FGF – I’m doing alright thanks chief, and trust that you are keeping well too.

These mindless attacks on our manager are totally counter-productive, they only galvanise us and make us more defiant than ever before.
