They want to get rid of him

730

‘They’ want to get rid of him.  Not all of them, by any measure, I’ve seen Neil Lennon welcomed as an old friend by some whose allegiances lie a long way from Celtic Park, but to some he represents an opportunity to indulge in the kind of prejudice which was once widely accepted in Scotland.

In this instance I’m not talking about the idiot football fans, there are lots of idiot football fans, just waiting for an opportunity to present their credentials.  You can meet them wearing any colours.  The people who showed their true colours today were in charge of stewarding guests at Tynecastle – and Neil Lennon was a guest.

It’s a horrible place.  The day the flats are built cannot come soon enough. I expect a robust response from Aberdeen, as well as life bans. I expect nothing from Hearts.

Leftclick, spot on with your post on the way Celtic should respond in front of Sky cameras. Time would simply be wasted with Scottish broadcasters.

  9. Why is the Aberdeen statement washy washy. I mean my god celtic have ignored rampant ciporryption. At least Aberdeen have faced up to this?

  10. A 15 nil crushing of Aberdeen would go down very well following today’s disgraceful behaviour.

It just seems strange that you try to turn every situation into an attack on Celtic thats all.

Don’t worry about ny inane comments there will be no further directed at you (sighs).

  12. Imagine ANY EPL manager was spat upon and verbally abused whilst viewing any future opponents.

67 Heaven, you cant buy the kind of balls I’m talking about. In the last three years our club and board have been toothless (ball less too) in the hun saga, all previous attacks on NFL and I’m not betting they will shine bright on this latest episode.

Vmhan, I hope it’s good news just to utterly piss of Tony D:-)

  14. Pfayr tpyou are of course correct. There is a clamour for morale outrage now. But there was no clamour for ordinary supporters.

Along those lines, the late great Mr Zappa summed it up with this wee cracker

Most rock journalism is people who can’t write, interviewing people who can’t talk, for people who can’t read

Only nowadays substitute “rock” with “sports” or “Scottish”. Or maybe even just drop the word “rock” completely !

  16. Owen if we are on the hunt against ill treatment why is it more important to defend NL than the guy who sits next to you in the stadium. We need to stop being myopic and be consistent.

Either we believe in what we are or we don’t. We can’t pick and choose. And sadly for us the people who run our club are supporting sectarianism.

  17. Sky cameras.

Sky news has ignored it FFS, Jack earning his corn as ever.

Maybe it’s about time Celtic opened the biscuit tin and employed a Tim version of Jack, they don’t like it up them, go on Celtic, do the right thing FFS, and stand up for your employees, and stand up for your supporters, cos if you don’t, it may be too late to whine when they do walk away, cos they will, they will only take so much.

I actually agree with you on this. The Aberdeen statement is not “washy, washy “.

It is a general statement that does not pre judge events but asks for more information prior to appropriate action taking place. It does not say sorry as I would have liked, but no doubt this was advised by their legal team.

On the other hand Celtic are probably waiting for the information prior to issuing a statement.

I would have preferred Celtic to issue a preliminary statement like Aberdeen have. It will seem as if we are gauging public opinion prior to acting.

As for Hearts I didn’t expect anything so I’m not surprised.

Celtic should also be taking appropriate action at all levels of football governance both here and above, makeing it absolutely clear that our manager was hindered from preparing properly for a Scottish cup tie due to being attacked, spat on and verbally abused by opposition supporters.

Celtic have an opportunity to do the right thing here by our manager, club and support.

I sincerely hope they take it and come out fighting.

  20. FourGreenFields on

This should be the line in the sand for OUR Club , now is the the time to fight , now is the time to stand up for what we believe in .

  21. Good that Aberdeen FC are asking for witnesses to come forward but what about the two missing words, ” in confidence.”

  22. paolosboots FC before PLC on

ironic Bloody Sunday is on STV looks like nothings changed we are still being treated as second class citizens!

  23. Any spfl statement yet?

    Thought not.

    Any hearts statement yet?

    Thought not.

Aberdeen statement…could have been stronger but at least clearly stated who was allegedly assaulted, what the assaults were, asked for info to be given up and hoped perpetrators would face appropriate sanctions.

At this early stage that’s as much as could be said.

Possibly a more responsible statement than Celtics following the Motherwell debacle.
