They want to get rid of him

730

‘They’ want to get rid of him.  Not all of them, by any measure, I’ve seen Neil Lennon welcomed as an old friend by some whose allegiances lie a long way from Celtic Park, but to some he represents an opportunity to indulge in the kind of prejudice which was once widely accepted in Scotland.

In this instance I’m not talking about the idiot football fans, there are lots of idiot football fans, just waiting for an opportunity to present their credentials.  You can meet them wearing any colours.  The people who showed their true colours today were in charge of stewarding guests at Tynecastle – and Neil Lennon was a guest.

It’s a horrible place.  The day the flats are built cannot come soon enough. I expect a robust response from Aberdeen, as well as life bans. I expect nothing from Hearts.

TET, did you see Alex Thompsons blog the other day? Jack Irvine openly arguing with other posters in the comments section below the blog.

The man is a classless shit.

  2. The exiled Tim – david&Cqnmagazine.com

    Yes and more.

I was out with BRTH this evening. Last night I spent over five hours proofing his 35,000 word contribution to our Seville book. I finished this at around 1.30am and sent back to him.

He got back in at 2.30 this morning and read my changes – the one that stood our was my deletion of the Christian name of the Blackburn manager when we stuffed them on the way to Seville.

Earlier this evening we we both at BRTH’s sisters house for a wee party. I was in her class at University. We discussed this again and everyone – including my wife – said we should use his Christian name.

I said I’d rather pull out my teeth!

As I said – yes and more. Guys on here attacking US. Bypass their sectarian association and render them impotent. And Celtic now?

Today I looked at our team the day we beat Motherwell in the 2011 Cup Final – the day we were verbally assaulted by the BBC. Our team today is much better than then – have a look. And what a team we will have when we get to where we are heading.

Tomorrow we will finish the mag and expose one bigot.

And always stand behind Neil Lennon (my winning captain).

  3. It I was celtic I wouldn’t issue a statement on this one yet either. Wait for the truth to settle.

We all sound like we are on FF. Stop it.

If only celtic had done that after the Motherwell game eh. And not blamed the blameless.

God I feel so sad about it all tonight.

  4. greenpin….

As I suggested earlier I’d think they’d take Neils opinion of what they should say, if anything, very strongly into account.

    I AM NEIL LENNON

  5. Kilbowie Kelt will vote YES on

I am still trying to understand the logic of those who are criticising Graham Spiers for saying that Neil Lennon ‘attracts’ abuse from bigots.

    Of course he does.

Surely what Spiers is saying is self evidently TRUE.

Neil is a talented & hugely successful Irish Catholic, guilty of nothing other than his ethnicity & religion.

He attracts bigotry as surely as a magnet attracts iron filings.

Spiers’ is only stating the obvious & is in no way justifying the abuse inflicted on NL.

If he was to say that children ‘attract’ the unwanted attention of paedophiles, I am certain that he would not be accused of blaming the innocent children.

No more is he blaming NL.

Neil Lennon’s abuse has nothing to do with Graham Spiers.

As a journalist he could, of course, have confronted the truth that in Scotland dare not speak its name.

Then again, not many of us would risk our livelihood by tilting at that particular windmill.

  6. A Ceiler Gonof Rust Supporting Neil Lennon against brainless thugs and zombies on

FGF, three years ago the kilwinning assassins tried to blow our manager to smithereens, that should have the line in the sand. Then we witnessed a psychopath attack NL at tynecastle andget off on a technicality. That should have been a line in the sand too.

There is no line in the sand in this country as far as Neil Lennon is concerned, he’s fair game to be tortured, taunted and abused.

The line in the sand will be when he says enough is enough or is murdered by nazi scum in this horrible place we call home.

Some form of protest would be good. Ironically, the PLC has cleansed the main protest route to appease the Establishment.

Perhaps a Green Card Day v Aberdeen and singing Only One Neil Lennon for 90 minutes would help? Then again…..

    Correct……

  12. Weak statement from Aberdeen (praise the fans, great atmosphere, small minority, unacceptable, blah blah blah). Better than nothing, I guess. Hopefully to be replaced with something unequivocal.

Nothing from Hearts, they’ve probably got till Monday to figure out how to square another attack on our manager with we’re not really a bigot infested club and have no intention of doing anything about it.

League Cup eh? How about an over reaction from the League authorities to draw a line in the sand regarding anti Irish/Catholic sectarianism. Several sanctions are available.

What happened tonight needs to be treated as a criminal act as that what it was. The police must act.

  13. kilbowie…

That’s maybe true but as a wordsmith he’s obviously failed to get across the message you think he’s trying to deliver so poor show.

If he seems equivocal to some it must mean he has failed. As a professional writer/commentator no more severe criticism could be levelled.

    Extraordinary statement from Aberdeen.

Admits only unacceptable behaviour by supporters of Aberdeen.Perhaps a naughty banner was displayed.

Reference to a tiny minority.Hardly worth mentioning really, but we`ll go through the motions.

No mention whatsoever of the victim.

    No apology.

Pro forma damage control writ large.

  18. Turned the laptop on to catch up on whats been goin on today and read about what Neil has had to endure today :(

IF that was a coloured man sitting in that stand would he have brought it on himself because he was coloured?

IF it had been a Muslim or a Jew, would they have brought it on themselves?

IF this had happened to ANY Football Manager other than Neil Lennon it would have been condemned instantly and quite rightly so.

I have never been able to understand what the difference is between hating someone for their religion or the colour of their skin.

In Scotland it gets called bigotry but its RACISM.

Is it not like saying a woman deserved to get raped cos she was asking for it because of the clothes that she was wearing?

I was actually discussing how things seem to be better for him now a few weeks ago with a wokmate.

    How wrong can i get.

Having read about Spiers’s comment and whether he had even perhaps tried to be facetious or not just cant be acceptable.

Until these cretins get sacked(unfortunately that wont happen)and this “he brings it on himself” comment is shown up for being 1 bigot/racist vindicating another ones actions it wont stop and the scum that are out there are led to believe its ok to attack the man.

Ever since Neil came here he has been a winner and hes stuck it to them and they know it and hate him even more for it.

When Martin O’Neil put his arm round Lenny that day, to me, he was showing his appreciation for the way he battled with that scum.

They were desperate to get him sent off and he went toe to toe with the lot of them and although we were beaten that day and it was 1 of the few occasions we did loose to them Neil Lennon wouldn’t be beat and never will.

Winners loose sometimes but most of the time….they win and since Neil joined us…..what kind of success have we had?

Could have been better but they have still been great times.

They know it…..and they hate him for it because they know he will be here tomorrow sticking it to them all again.

Scotland – Showing Racism the Green Light… again. Posting as one who doesn’t have the benefit of a law degree, that still counts as a technicality in my view.

My daughter has a law degree and I’m sure she’d put me right on the legal technicalities of how a man can attack our manager in front of the world live on TV and get off with a trivial sentence in clink, as did the kilwinning assassins.

Your daughter will do well to explain the attack on Lenny and the subsequent acquittal in a legal context

  29. There have been many Irishman employed in Scottish football over the years, no doubt of all faiths.

There have been many Roman Catholics who openly practised their faith. A good number of them also played for Celtic but Packy Bonner for one never received the same resentment which Neil Lennon suffers.

It’s too simplistic to say it’s all down to bigotry.

Since Lennon stepped onto the pitch at Dens Park he has been a hate figure.

Since he came to Celtic we have enjoyed success after success.

So my view is they can accept Irishman, they can accept catholics but what really sticks in their throats is a successful Celtic and this wee fella milking it.

This is backed up by the fact that prior to joining Celtic Lennon had no off field problems of any note.

FGF, no. I’m off to Spain on Monday to deal with the aftermath of Spanish thieves and vagabonds.

Going to the match tomorrow and heading off Monday. I ordered myself a few canisters of pepper spray from a company in Estonia, just in case I have any more bother at my gaff. Pick up my baseball bats on Monday afternoon. After what happened last time I was there I’ll be in no mood to ask questions first. Any further bother will result in:

    – Blinding

    – Torture

    – Severe beating with free multiple fractures
