They want to get rid of him

730

‘They’ want to get rid of him.  Not all of them, by any measure, I’ve seen Neil Lennon welcomed as an old friend by some whose allegiances lie a long way from Celtic Park, but to some he represents an opportunity to indulge in the kind of prejudice which was once widely accepted in Scotland.

In this instance I’m not talking about the idiot football fans, there are lots of idiot football fans, just waiting for an opportunity to present their credentials.  You can meet them wearing any colours.  The people who showed their true colours today were in charge of stewarding guests at Tynecastle – and Neil Lennon was a guest.

It’s a horrible place.  The day the flats are built cannot come soon enough. I expect a robust response from Aberdeen, as well as life bans. I expect nothing from Hearts.

    No doubt about it.

The sheep will be put back in their place, on the field of play, obviously.

    Violence only begets violence.

Let’s steam roll clean over the top of them.

SFTB’s you place your words so wisely but the last twelve of your post may as well be pissed in the wind. This is where my anger emanates from. Nothing has been done and nothing will be. A great read all the same bruv.

Bedtime for acgr now and an early rise. Things domestic to attend to before Mrs ACGR lets me loose on the paradise road.

Hail Hail Celtic Men and Wummin, We Are All Neil Lennon.

    Love acgr xxxx

  3. Don’t know if you are lurking Weefra but i saw your post a few days ago and…..despite trying to put some words together a mixture of too little sleep, too many cold beers and not enough braincells contrived to make what i was trying to post……gobbledygook(is that how its spelt?)

    Anyway…..hope you weren’t meaning what i thought you were meaning and…..unless i have missed something(happens a lot)…..it looks like you did :(

Gonna try again to say what i was gonna say but not a lot has changed from the other night apart from the fact that i dont feel as tired but the yang has took the opportunity to consume even more cold beer :P

Most, if not all posters probably build up some kind of mental image of other posters because of the stuff they post, whether its their views, what they like to do, etc, and i am the same.

For what its worth……I always liked to read your posts and thought you were a really warm genuine person.

Take care of yourself bud….and those chickens!

I even take any opportunity that i get to impress anyone now if eggs are mentioned by telling them that they wont lay if the weathers too hot……so many things to learn here from a lot of crackin folk…..but i guess it helps IF they are actually here.

Is there any evidence that the sheep attacked Neil because of his nationality, or his religious beliefs?

Or was it a simple case of the sheep being their usual scumbag selves?

Catching up with this incident should beggar belief that our manager, NFL, and his assistant, GP, could be confronted in such a fashion.

Unfortunately Celtic fans are accustomed to such thuggery.

Thanks for taking a stand in support of NFL and GP tonight. Your article will be read around the world over these next hours.

My preference would be for it to be headed – They want to get rid of Neil – but that’s a minor quibble.

  12. The treatment of Neil Lennon today is part of the shape of things to come if the ‘Yes’ people get their way. Scotland is the most bigoted part of the UK and an independent Scotland will intensify this bigotry. Meanwhile, the SNP will side with Edinburgh juries till Kingdom come.

Sftb – another good post – thoughtful, analytical, coherent and lucid.

Apart from your last sentence though – those boys will come looking for trouble next week and I reckon they won’t have much trouble finding it.

  15. Disgusting what happened to Lenny yesterday, but up to him how he wants Celtic to respond in my honest opinion. If he doesn’t like the official statement then Lenny is completely within his rights to issue one on his own behalf. Not so sure he will though as he has previous for keeping his thoughts to himself(What was said between him and the Sleekit Whisperer as an example).

Aberdeen statement?….Don’t know what else they could have said before the matter is fully investigated and the scumbags identified…..Well done AFC for such a prompt response,in my view.

Spiers statement?…..Again take a different view to some on here….,GS is actually calling the bigots out with what he has said.

Sometimes we must take a dispassionate view to find the truth.

  16. The Orcs will be laughing at the prospect of trouble between Celtic and Aberdeen fans next week.

Hope we don’t give them any entertainment to make up for the shite they have to watch every week.

Divide and conquer SPFL fans……Careful Bhoys…..The Huns are very experienced at this and they do it so well.

  17. I had to smile at the statement that the police had received no complaints.

The Masonic pavement pounders needed no complaints to assault Celtic fans.

In these days of mass camera surveillance, particularly in football grounds, police can easily scrutinize any rowdy fans and photograph them for id.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they can pinpoint the exact seat of someone fharting at. Celtic Park and then obtain an analysis of their last meal.

This attack is indicative of a moronic sub culture in Scotland.

Police would be better spending their efforts and focusing their resources in eradicating this element not only from our game but also our society.

It’s not Speirs we should be blaming, it’s a society and environment which allows these morons to flourish.

  18. From FB Secret Society Membership Declaration by Decision Makers

The late Paul McBride, QC. Speaking on BBC Newsnight Scotland on 31 August, 2011, summed up the “completely and utterly inexplicable verdict” handed down to the man accused of assaulting Neil Lennon. With regard to the decision by the jurors he commented as follows:

“In Scotland we have juries who don’t have to read who don’t have to write they don’t have to count and may be full of prejudices unlike other countries. We may have to revisit this area again.”

Almost uniquely, many freemasons in Scotland are also Orangemen or they and their lodges have a close relationship with Orangeism. In cases such as the Neil Lennon assault trial, should the jury have to declare membership of organisations such as the Masons or the Orange Order?

When Mr McBride said “In Scotland we have juries who don’t have to read who don’t have to write they don’t have to count and may be full of prejudices unlike other countries.” Was he referring to Scotland’s Freemasons or was he referring to Orangemen? Or was he simply referring to the anti-Irish racism and anti-RC bigotry that is present to some extent in Scottish society in general?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-14748147

  19. The abuse of Neil Lennon, who was accompanied by Gary Parker at Tynecastle, was shameful both in its display and its somewhat nonchalant reporting by the media to its inevitability. Like that to the greater extent excuses it. There are many who should be holding their heads in shame again.

What is concerning too, is that the carnival of bigotry took place in the centre of the main stand; traditionally the exclusive parlour of the home team and usually the most expensive seats in the house.

It is not often the area of the stadium where you’d expect a club’s maggots to congregate; usually they can’t afford it.

Usually the more affluent (which although a big generalisation – usually equates to the better educated) of any team’s support vie for these prime seats. If that was true of yesterday’s game too… then society has a much bigger problem on its hands than that which its media work very hard to downplay.

Neil Lennon’s purgatory in Scotland is ineffable, but it would be nice, if just for once, one of those over-paid twats who call themselves journalists actually tried to do his persecution – by prejudice –justice in public print. But they won’t.

Stop too and think what Gary Parker and his family think about the renowned hospitality and gregariousness of the Scots.

Think too about how every non-prejudiced man and women around the world views this perpetual hate and the impotence of Scottish authority and media to counter it, or even pretend to counter it.

If you get the opportunity to ever ask the haters to define their reasons to hate, haters who take every opportunity to misery and belittle Neil Lennon and his life, be prepared for the shock of your lives.

  20. Re Lennon. The assault ob lennon on the sideline at tynecastle included testimony fron hearts head of security that sectarian language was used by the hearts fan during his attack. The fact that that his testimony was not enough to make that charge stick was down to the legal system in scotland. The other fact is that it shows aquinas that its definitely not sectarianism at the club itself but amongst some idiots in the crowd.

My issue, and others have referenced it, is that the MSM and not just scottish, express an daily mail websites take every opportunity to paint lennon subhuman – raging, snarling, aggressive. Jeez he kicked over a waterbottle. Look at the avuse Pardew gave pellegrini recently. 10x worse. No the media from the Sun’s infamous cartoon to the reporting of the ShameGame had told thugs and neds its ok to have a go at Lennon, heck its RIGHT TO as he brings it upon itself.

And the worst part is the this Aberdeen incident will be used by the media and others as “proof” attacks on lennon are not sectarian but because its his personality that gets him assaulted on the street or at work or has bombs and death threats sent to him in the post.

  21. macjay:

I would be surprised if Gary Parker was ever the target of the hate, but I have no doubt he felt subjected to it and he would not have slept a babies sleep last night.

I know it has been mentioned many times before, but where were the much vaunted, elite, professional and impartial – FOCUS?

  22. Stairheedrammy on

    Kitalba

Unfortunately when you decide on a bigot appeasement strategy of arresting tims for singing songs you dont like, and target your resources on a small group of wee bhoys- you tend to miss the real crimes going on around you- still the SNP and FOCUS wont mind that- both are getting what they want

  23. Stairheedrammy:

To my mind FOCUS equates to glory hunting bigots who have a fetish for uniforms and power. Some might even take the next descriptive step and denounce them pet FASCISTS. (but stringed puppets of whom or what)

I’ll bite my tongue for the moment until their actions and/or inactions unequivocally define them whichever or whatever but whatever state they think they best serve, it is a figment of their imaginations, nourished by their latent, or maybe often not so much so, bigotries.

Who created FOCUS? Why were they ever formed? What is their remit? Where were they yesterday?

Does anybody think Scotland is mature enough to be independent. Today is another insight into what protection Catholics can expect in Alex’s free state. Those uppity taigs the GB singing songs of their heritage… Let’s draft new legislation and make it an offence inside football grounds. March up and down the roads of Scotland openly displaying your hatred? Batter in.

Will Alex’s storm troopers be conducting any dawn raids on the back of NFL’s treatment today. I think we know the answer to that.

Catholics voting for independence? It would be the equivalent of Jews voting for the National Socialists.

    – – – – – –

These types of comments really aren’t going to help the situation. Ridiculous analogies with Jews only induce mocking from those who aren’t sympathetic to notions that Celtic supporters and employees are being persecuted. Scotland is not a disgusting country full of bigots. It is no different to any other country as all countries have these hateful ideas. Dare I suggest that some people on this site may be part of the problem?

  25. You think Scottish Catholics are persecuted? Find out what is happening to Hungarian gypsies for example. These are people who endure severe discrimination. Scotland’s problem does not compare. People born in Scotland/UK hit life’s jackpot. It is a wealthy country in comparison to most other places and is also more civilised than many other places. Some of the hyperbole being displayed on this site would make one think it is a hellhole for Irish Catholics. Most Scottish people have no interest in bigotry towards Irish Catholics. It isn’t Billy and Sam who cause the main problems now. Instead it is the ‘Guardian’ elite who despise Catholics. Have a look at their comments sections.

  26. Stairheedrammy on

John- I dont see anyone on here suggesting an open anti Catholic policy displayed in Scotland- most recognise though that there is an acceptance of a level of anti Irish Catholic bigotry- demonstrated in the acceptance of OO hate marches, the treatment of NL- especially the Edinburgh Jury and the SNP drive to jail Tims- that level of bigotry is so pervasive that even some of us seem to consider it acceptable

  27. John O’Neil:

Their is hatred, discrimination, prejudice, malice, violence, all over the world. But this is a Celtic Supporters site and predominately it is subject to Celtic issues primarily.

They say charity begins at home, so does hope and hate.

I personally have not a clue what is going on in Hungary, but I’m aware of many nastinesses that are going on in the world, among them the persecution of Neil Lennon and on a Celtic site I would expect the persecution of Neil Lennon to be of great concern to all Celtic Supporters on a Celtic site.

  28. Did I not warn Mags Magill about the dangers of using analogies, you must have missed it Hugh Bonkle fae Dallas and John O’Neil it was only an analogy without agenda’s malice.
